Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Anton admires his trusty hammer for a moment and then returns it and the plasma torch to their places on his tool belt.
Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
The Gam'A Zone; 346D/81 (Evening)
Max recovers from his momentary sensation of spinning. He tries to reason if the vision was another being’s memory fragment or precognition. His mind’s eye position, relative to the wall, was inconclusive.
Silvestri and Needle confer and ask if it’s feasible to break through the meshing mechanism or find a means to traverse the wall.
Saiph, securing his daggers, volunteers to investigate going through the wall.
Anton, Denslow and Kurot stand at the ready.
Podo, positioned at the edge of the entry hole, hears a >'POP'< sound from high above the outside of the entry wall.

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Max explains about focusing thoughts on the wall to open it up. He begins to do so.
Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Denslow rolls his eyes, shrugs a bough, and thinks “open” at the wall.

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Anton begins juggling three of his hand darts in a relaxed manner.
Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Roll an Invoke Patron EDE at a 1d20+1 base. I would look at HEXACODA as an example of the required roll.
Based on the result, we will determine the appropriate outcome. Basically, don't get a natural '1'.
Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Podo
Podo steps inside the room and positions himself against the destroyed barrier, peaking out from around the side and focusing on the direction the noise emanated from to see if he can distinguish where or what the popping sound was from cover.
Strange, did something just pop into existence, or is whatever this strange tower may be finally coming to life
Affording a glance back to his companions he says in a low voice, "Something is happening, I heard a distinctive popping sound from high above. If we cannot get through the wall, perhaps we can shear the axle that is holding the shredding mechanism in place with a spike and hammer? If we can separate how the rollers are being held to the wall, it should just drop into whatever is below"

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Max screws up his eyes and calls aloud, O mighty, bits and bytes, hear my plea! He begins chanting in hexadecimal and using his spirit fingers.
Invoke Patron EDE [1d20+1]=12+1=13
He’s willing to burn luck if that isn’t good enough

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Needle has limited familiarity with artifacts (at least with weapons and armor) and investigates the meshing mechanism to see if there are any mechanical attachments he might has seen before to look for a way to loosen the meshing "arms" from the sides.
Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
The Gam'A Zone; 345-346D/81 (Evening)
Max chants in a bizarre, mechanical-toned language and flutters his fingers at the wall. After focusing for several minutes, multiple illuminated two-inch squares form on the surface.
OOC: A roll of 18 was required, costing 5 luck points.

When the spots disappear, a hole appears where each block vanished! Soon, a 10ft by 8ft section dissolves in front of the neuronaut, affording passage through the structural barrier! A corridor bathed in red light is revealed with ten curved alcoves running from the floor to the 10ft ceiling. Objects float in three of the recesses at the far end, where a curtain of streaming white light cascades down from the ceiling, blocking the corridor.
All visible surfaces are constructed of the same smooth, seamless artificial stone.

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Needle tries to make sense of the meshing cylinder mechanism. He understands how the two parts work together, but is frustrated by the lack of control attachments or obvious fastening devices; they are either hidden or non-existent.
Podo leans out and looks up the outside face of the structure. At the very top above the blasted entry, six objects eject from inside the structure.

OOC: Red line is the ejection point.

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
OOC: I will spend 2 points of Luck to add 4 to grey's roll so he only has to use 1, if allowed. I know it takes a while for Max to get it back
Podo
Are the objects that were ejected flying or falling?
Speaking in a low voice to avoid detection, Podo says:
"Something has just come out of the structure above us, I think it might be best if we find a defendable position or make haste somewhere else. Are you able to reverse the effect on the wall once we are inside?"
He will try to stay in the cover of the wall as much as possible but still keep an eye on the objects that are airborne.
Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
The objects are descending in a controlled manner.

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
"We may be safer from the things outside in the hallway even though we don't know what's ahead of us" Anton offers and begins walking that direction without waiting for a response. The juggling of the darts continues, he tosses one nimbly over his shoulder from behind his back, switching up the pattern of their flight. "That's one thing being heavy has going for it." He says to no one in particular.

Silvestri
"If we can't close the wall then it might be easier to defend the hole in the wall than the corridor. We don't know what those floating things in it are or what that white light is"

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Max feels like he was luckier than he should have been. He glances around the room and makes a sidelong smile at Podo.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Kurot listens to the mechanical-toned language Max speaks, trying to make sense of it. "Of course!" he says. "To open a door in a machine fortress, you need to speak machine!"
He looks around, not quite wanting to be the one to suggest they move on in...or wanting to be the one to take the lead.

Re: CHAPTER 12a: The Fortress of the Plain
Podo
"Their coming.", referring to the 6 objects descending from the sky. Podo reaches down and grabs a large piece of debris from the shattered wall. He leaves the cover of the wall and begins to follow Anton saying "Your right, maybe it will be safer in the hallway." and peers down the strange corridor for the first time. The smoothness of the walls reminds him of sleek underground caverns that are worn away from ages of flowing water. Spotting the last three alcoves with unknown floating possibilities, he squats down to slide the large chuck of stone down the corridor.
OOC: I am going for trying to slide it past the 3 floating objects and into or through the white light

Needle
Despite the comfort of his battle axe back in his grasp, the current situation is making Needle extremely anxious. He gives up on the meshing gears and joins the others to look down the newly opened hallway and watches for the results of Podo's experiment.
Needle's fight or flight response is getting very high.

Saiph
Without saying a word, the diminutive humanoid joins those at the entrance to the corridor. Staying close to the bulk of Podo, he peers down it at the things inside.
