I thought your Dalelands kit idea was brilliant. Do you need to be a wild mage for that to happen?

RT: No, I don't need to be a wild mage for the High Dale kit. It's just that I've been wanting to play a wild mage since I bought the Tome of Magic new, and have never had the chance. Plus, I like being more than just a walking Sleep spell, and Nahal's Reckless Dweomer would have given me a chance to make sure something interesting would happen once I ran out of spells.

DM, how are you thinking of handling starting spells for wizards?

You know what - it's a new day and almost a new year, and I've been rereading through the Wild Magic/ Wild Mage info this morning, and I've changed my mind. Hoon, roll up that wild ass mage from the Dalelands! I wanna see him!

As for spells, in my games, all wizards begin having Read Magic automatically. At first level roll 1d6 and that is how many spells you have in your spell book - your choice of spells. As you progress in levels, you will gain spells by finding them in other spellbooks, scrolls, or from a higher level wizard.

Your wild ass mage will start play at 2nd level with 2500 xp and max hp. Cool beans?

Yay! Thank you very much. I'll try to get the character done today, and then figure out what the heck I'm supposed to do with the site's character sheet.

And Brund: yes, that's entirely possible. Though it's more likely that your beard will simply fall out, or grow even more. Fun times.

Ok, quick question on languages: do we get any for free aside from Common? And how are you handling reading and writing?

If you're a spellcaster, you can read and write your native language.

As for additional languages, we'll just follow the 2E rules.

And fellers...we have a forum!! Thanks Tonixx!!

I'll be adding threads as the day progresses and into tomorrow. So, let's carry the conversation over there, okay?

Hey Guys,

Sorry you haven't heard from me i've been busy with the new year and other life happenings. I am back and rare and ready to go. I'm taking a Dwarf fresh out of Dwarf Fortress but haven't decided on class other than most likely a melee flair. I'll throw it all togther tonight.

I wouldn't "throw it together" -- looks like we aren't starting for a week or so, I would put some thought into it -- flesh that sucker out. :) I am spending the extra time pondering. :)
