ask the scientist if they are involved in genetic modification?

The scientists admit that they are working on bio-weapons designed to attack Sathar life forms only. No genetic alterations are being done here. By the way, you are about 1 hour from shift change...

"How do we want to handle tonight?" Daz asks the others. "Should we consider having someone try to go through the ventilation ducts? I know I won't be able to fit into there. My thinking is we stick to pairs and patrol the facility around where the staff is sleeping. If we stay mobile, we should be able to respond quickly to anything."

"Do any of us have ideas on how we can leverage their security system to aid us in monitoring tonight? My thought was that one of us could be watching all the rooms the scientists are staying in to see if any of them get attacked. I'd prefer to intercept the creature before it attacks someone but if we move quickly we might be able to save the victim."

"The other thought is to set a trap by having one of the staff be bait in a room by themselves some distance from the rest of the staff. I'd suggest that a pair of us be very close by with at least one of us watching a video feed. Maybe we could have the intercom system on in that room so that we'd hear anything."

GM: How feasible would it be for Daz to write a program to analyze the video feed of the pool to detect disturbances in the water? If she could do that and access the feeds live then we might be able to have an early warning system.

Daz, you will need to make a manipulate program skill roll for me.

do the vents extend into the sleeping quarters?
the rooms themselves?

Staying groups of at least 2 is a good idea, Rick thinks and then agrees to it when Daz mentions it. "I don't be thinking that anyone here is wanting to be bait for our trap. We probably be needing to be our own bait.

The vents extend into every room in the facility.

Daz, you have successfully modified the program.

Teflon wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2020 3:58 am Sorry, it slipped my mind, to take pictures. But I describe what i saw, size of the puncture marks, and distance between, that kind of thing.
“Any difference between the holes? Or were they identical? I’m wondering about how you pull liquid blood out of a body like that. Think about it... if you drain a bladder Of oil, You put two holes in it, it will dribble out slowly. Even if you suction it, you will collapse the vessel before you get it all out. There’s just not enough pressure to do otherwise.”

“If you have one entry and wound and one exit Wound though, you push air in one way and pull the blood out the other... much quicker.”

“What if the body is injected with some substance or creature or engineered agent... that enters the blood and then does its Dirty work destroying or converting blood into... whatever... and then Exits out the body near the entry wound?”

“It wouldn’t explain what it is, but the mechanics of it would make more sense.”
Questions were here, addressed to the group: Was there ever any discussion or opportunity to review these questions? If Lloyd needed to go look at one of these dead bodies if nobody has a recollection of it.

I have some thoughts, so Lloyd will speak them for me to the group.

“It’s apparently invisible to cameras and possibly the human eye in visible light... what if what this is is just too small to see?” Lloyd is thinking of nano-machines or nano-particles of some type.

“So, if it’s airborne, or using the ducts to move, it Should leave some trace... if it isn’t just diffusing, it would still disturb the air. Could be we could measure its presence using air pressure changes.”

“If it’s alive or has any substance, maybe we can detect that, as well.”

To their scientific friends, “Do we have access to any vacuum samplers? I worked once in a Cathelium Distillery, they had a problem with some of the batches. They were able to sample the air for some very low concentration chemicals coming off the batch. Basically a timed valve on a fitting on the canister lets a little air and other stuff in at a time. Maybe we could setup some of those, if we have them, to try to see what is in the Air, or grab a chunk of it?”

If we don’t have access to those kinds of things, maybe vacuum pumps with trap jars or filters?

T'prin ask to be shown the area where the air circulators are located.

If Dakk is around and agreeable, Rick will patrol the compound with Dakk, looking for anything out of the ordinary. He will keep his chronocom on the group's common channel and will be using his wireless earbuds/microphone.

T'prin, the air circulation unit sits on the roof of the lab. Not accessible unless you want to swim out there.

At this point, everyone hears a message over the intercom; "Attention. Shift change. Day shift is released. Night shift, make your way to your stations. Remember, the buddy system is in effect. That is all."

After this announcement is made, everyone sees the lighting change to a soft blue. Everyone you see headed toward the elevators are glancing around nervously.

OOC: I'd hope we can hammer out these details of how we're handling the night shift before it actually happens but I see that we haven't ironed that out yet.

My suggestion is two patrols with a central person sitting with the security person watching cameras. We ran out of time to establish a sufficient trap with bait so we can just go with the patrol approach. Daz would suggest we have the two primary combatants join the non-combatants in patrols. Assuming you all agree, who wants to sit watching cameras and who wants to be out of patrols? Daz is fine with either spot.

I’m not sure if we ran out of time or not, but i never heard any feedback from the GM about Lloyd’s thoughts. I did not mean for that to happen in the 30 minutes before the change, but it’s not my clock running.

Lloyd will partner up with one of the techs and be their buddy for the shift. He’ll try to learn something.

Okay, sounds like we've got a working plan. Daz will stay in the Security room monitoring cameras with their security person. I'd suggest Dakk and Lloyd do one patrol while Rick and T'prin do the other.
