Re: Everyday Life in Beachtown
Raythan nods as his friend leaves to tend to his duties. He keeps filling teacups as long as the others stay.
“That is correct princess. That was the name of the pirate slaver Captain Bings ship. I didn’t make that connection myself until you just mentioned it.”
The half-elf ponders the idea for a while before continuing.
“No matter I suppose, since that ship was reported as destroyed at sea recently with all hands lost.”
“Still, it is a curious thing, these shining flashes of light. I believe there must be more to it than simple coincidence.”

Honey, Ah don't think anything on this island is a coincidence. Everywhere you look, there's some sort of trouble, an' two puzzles behind it. Almost like someone built this whole island just to keep folks busy.
A body could go crazy trying to solve them all at once. For now, Ah'm most concerned about the Constable. Ya'll sure there's no good way to identify a shapechanger?

Raythan thinks hard for a while.
“I’ve though that same thing about this place myself many times Daisy, many times.”
“I’d bet a shapechanger wouldn’t have the same eating habits or other particular mannerisms as their assumed form. That is why I suggest watching him from a distance for a while.”

You're right, sugar. Ah guess we got a job of work ahead of us.
Ah thank you kindly for the hospitality an' conversation, Raythan. Ah better get back to the crew workin' on the clinic, tho.
Unless something else pops up, Daisy will go back to the weavers and builders.

The Princess
She stands as the others leave then finishes her cup and thanks Raythan. "Good to meet you. I'm sure that we'll see more of each other soon. And if they do get the town moved, well, then maybe we can work together to build some suitable buildings."
She bows and turns to leave.
-----
The Princess makes her way over to Marge.
"Excuse me. You must be Marge. I'm new to the Island and am trying to introduce myself to the locals. I am Princess Bonalure Summerstars of the Royal Court of Celene." She bows and smiles.

Raythan nods at the departure, glad to have made new friends today.
Sister Daisy finds her helpers hard at work weaving the walls for her future clinic. The work is slow, of course, but she can already see some progress on the eventual walls.
Marge is a larger human woman, getting on in her years, but that doesn't appear to hold her back much. She has been called the hardest worker on the island, a claim that the princess has heard more than once before their initial meeting. She is friendly enough to converse with however, replying with a jovial tone.
"Well good heavens, it is true. I had heard that an elven princess had come to our little community here, but I couldn't believe it. And here you are, seeking me out no less, and a pretty little thing too."
"It is a pleasure to meet you princess. I cant say that I know a lot about Celene, but I have heard of it before. I must ask, what brings you here? You dont have any affiliation to those nasty dwarves, do you?"

Back at the worksite, Daisy pitches in with a will, fetching cool water for weavers, cutting fronds, and whatever else she can.

Re: Everyday Life in Beachtown
Keeping the spirits of her helpers up by offering them food and drink, Sister Daisy sees some good progress being made. She estimates they could have the walls done and up in less than a weeks time, if she can retain the aid of her willing helpers.
"Hey Sister! Us folks who helped ya get first dibs on a bed in this place if we needs it, right?"
Bob, do you want a separate thread made up for this endeavor, like I did with the tower and Liam's farm, etc.?
Might be easier for tracking purposes later?

The Princess
The Princess smiles in recognition of the compliment. "Oh no, I didn't know of the Dwarves until seeing them on the docks the other day." She screws up her mouth before continuing. "In the course of negotiating an end to hostilities and the release of two fellow elves, I may have made friends with a few of them. Business deals, as it was. It wasn't until talking to more of the locals did I fully understand the nature of the Stoneguts."
"I've come to the Island on a personal quest, some unfinished business. The trail led here. But while I'm here I plan on setting up shop with Nallissa and seeing if I can give this settlement a needed boost."
She assesses Marge and nods. "Which brings me to you. The general word about town is that you are reliable and trustworthy, worthy of her place as a leader. I just wanted to let you know of my presence in town, and that I would be more than happy to assist in any way I can." She pauses for a bit. "Except maybe going in the jungle. I'm more of a city girl, you know."

Iffen ya'll need it, you'll have a spot. Ah promise you that.
I'm all in favor of organization and making the DM's job easier. If you want a separate thread, that's fine.'Beachtown Free Clinic' or something...

Yer story might sound a bit mysterious and dangerous, but I dont blame ya a bit fer not wantin to go out in the filthy jungle. I am the same way, deary."

After Daisy has decided on a location for the clinic, she wanders the town, looking for any of the Town Guard- especially a younger one with less swagger and overdone machismo than the others.
She's still working on trying to figure out what's going on with the Constable.

Daisy spots Liam speaking with 2 of the only militia members she knows over near the cook fires. The man seems upset about something and in a great hurry.

Only if Liam's way doesn't work- but I'll need a new angle if that's the case.

The afternoon of the scene with Glisandi, Daisy posts a message on the 'jobs board' at the base of the Treehouse.
TOWN MEETING
Everyone is invited to a meeting tonight, one hour before sunset. We will meet here, under the Treehouse Tavern.
I, Sister Daisy Broadfoot SCR, wish to discuss the leadership of BeachTown. If you have any interest in how we do things here, please attend!

Evening, near sunset, at the Treehouse
Daisy stands near the ladder, looking worried. She has dressed in her best robes, and has braided blue ribbons into the hair on her feet. She paces and fidgets, clearly having a lot on her mind.

Re: Everyday Life in Beachtown
The Announcement
Without much other excitement to choose from in town, Daisy manages to gather a fairly large crowd in response to her note on the new message board under the Treehouse. This doesn't make her any less nervous, however.
Along with the friends she's made while attempting to construct her healing house in town, she sees quite a few strangers milling around as well. Marge is there too, standing next to Caleb and Raythan. Randall even pops his head over the railing above, curious why so many folks have gathered, but only a few of them have climbed up to his tavern. (obviously anyone else who is in town at the moment can join in on this as well)
The halfling hears plenty of murmuring throughout the crowd, catching tidbits of concerns on what this meeting will actually be about. She also hears things regarding the constable, Liam's farm, the invasion of the dwarves, and something concerning kobolds. It seems that most of the people gathered think that this will finally be an announcement about uprooting the town and moving closer to the river. Though, the ones who can read are pretty sure it has something to do with the recent death of their leader, Nehru.

Daisy
Daisy scrambles up the ladder and speaks loudly from behind the railing in the Treehouse. She does her best to be heard, and pauses between topics to take questions.
Hello, Everyone! For anybody that don't know me, Ah'm Sister Daisy Broadfoot. Ah called this meetin' to help clear some things up.
Ah know a lot of Ya'll aren't happy- ya'll see folks coming and going, you hear about plans to move the town, you hear about plans for a Town Council to run things, and a lot more. Ah hear these things too, and Ah'm getting tired of all talk, no action.
Afore Ah go any further, here's what we know about the Constable. He was posessed by something- something physical, not a demon or devil. It was wearin' him like clothes, and he had no control- or knowledge of what the thing was doing. He's clear of it now, and recovering. When he's fit, he'll take his job back. Until we figger out what the thing was that posessed him, Ah'm going to ask everyone to work and travel in pairs, so the thing has less opportunity to possess anyone. It looks like a glob of phlegm or snot- about enough to fill a bucket.
Now-the main reason for the meeting. We need someone to be in charge- to give the leadership this community needs. The idea of a council is great-Ah'd love to have a council runnin' things. But a lot of ya'll feel like folks are draggin' their feet and not bein' serious about the idea of a council. Ah don't know- Ah suspect the main problem is that no one wants to be givin' orders. Adventuring types are independent as a hog on ice, an' don't want to give or get orders. Ah don't want to be in charge, either. Ah'd rather just spread Arvoreen's help an' take care of the wounded and sick.
However: since no one wants to step up, Ah'm going to. Ah propose that Ah take over an' lead the town until somebody better qualified turns up. But Ah'm not stupid enough to just say Ah'm in charge. Ah need everyone's support- So ah called this meetin' to discuss the idea. If you got an opinion (or a better idea), PLEASE speak up!
She waits for the swarm of questions- She'll repeat the question before answering it.

Liam had walked up to the meeting to stand near Caleb and Marge. He nodded politely to them both, keeping quiet for now to listen to Sister Daisy for the moment. Once she is done, he will look around to see what everyone's reactions are before turning to look at his two friends as if to silently ask what they are thinking.
