In preparation for our journey, I have obtained torches. Had to purchase as a lot, so anyone who wants one (or 2 or 3), here you go...
Anyone need any other supplies while we are in Helix? Don't be shy, I've the coin.
(Post however many you want so can subtract from my sheet)
Durgo, what is the hireling plan?

Durgo

"Brother Fydmar, The mercenary guild has supported this expedition by sending veteran torchbearers Rickford and Duval. both torchbearers for the Harpy assault and Mummy Barrow expeditions would be ideal. I've covered the initial cost of 48 gp. 2gp/day once we get back. All of us St. Ygg willing. Praise be to St. Ygg."

As 'Torchbearer' standard hirelings, the fees are detailed (from the first page of the thread), amounting to 48gp covering hire, two days wages,
Torchbearers:
Rickford 10/10 +2gp daily wage
Duval 10/10. +2gp daily wage
No xp share but 1/2 share of treasure.

Excellent Durgo, I should've figured you'd already taken care of it. In that case I'll give the torches to them. Here, for my share (passes over 24gp)

Dufr

July 6th 1066

Dufr walks into the Brazen Strumpet, looks around and heads to the bar.

"Could I get a good strong spirit and the meal of the day please?"

Cadeweed

Cadeweed will enter the Brazen Trumpet (on July the 6th), hoping to get an ale, smoke his pipe and see if anyone has information on this Adventurers Guild. Perhaps Sven or Orgoth.

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern
if anyone has information on this Adventurers Guild. Perhaps Sven or Orgoth.
Cadeweed arrives back in Helix having completed a long trek through the Blackened Forest to the edge of the Merisc River and exploring some recently defiled sacred groves. Inside the tavern patrons and adventurers mix, a hive of activity much in the same vein as the Trog Beehive with much 'to'ing and fro'ing'.

Inquiring in regards to the advertised Adventurers Guild, Cadeweed can meet up with guild steward Deucalion.

"Many preparations are underway for another delve among the Barrow Mounds. So unfortunately Sven and Orgoth are detained elsewhere and are not expected to be available for a while ... "

"Still, I can deal with any questions." The steward explains that over the next few days, Sven and Amos are committed to some ritual prayers and study regarding a relic they have recovered, Orgoth is rebuilding the roof and chimney on the Cromm elder's cottage, Gerdal is locked into her alchemy research in Mazzah's tower, Cosmo, Sigrid & Sundance are 'engaged in a threesome' in the tavern private suites (which I think means spell research trying to Identify minor items...) and Sir Dewey is over in the Chapel having some days of fasting and prayer to appropriate paladin blessings and renew his ability to Cure Disease through the laying on of hands.

"However new members to the guild are always welcome and certainly I am looking for some support for future endeavours both in Helix and Ironguard."

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern

Dufr a stout dwarf, typical of many itinerant labourers arrives in the settlement, choosing local brewed ale and locally grown vegetables with fish from the carp pools as his welcome meal.

The place is busy and though many 'player characters' are in the village, most are engaged in activities which take their time and focus, preparing as it were for future endeavours. You can get a few days labouring on the Helix Civic labour force; dry-stone walling the churchyard or rat catching from the public latrines. Basic wages and work which covers basic Upkeep at the tavern until July 10th. I am synchronising all players to leave on future endeavours at the same calendar date.

In the meantime you can fellowship in the settlement locations to gain contacts and information. Cadeweed the halfling, is at least in town and free of commitments, currently talking to the steward of a local guild.

Dufr

Dufr will find some work on the Helix Civic labor force to pay his bills.

Asking around, "I heard there was a maze like area near here people were exploring. Does anyone know if anyone is putting to together a party to explore?"

Sheet updated.

Moriartus

Arriving back in Helix, he enters the Brazen Strumpet and books a VIP suite for the next 4 days. He casually asks about Dalin, if anyone has seen him around lately.

Cadeweed

"Guild Steward Deucalion, I great enjoy a run down of what some of the members are doing, but I have no context - I have no idea whom those people are? What is the cost of being in the guild? What is the benefit of being in the guild? Can we start there?"

and replying to Dufr

"I am not sure of a maze, but I have been adventuring with multiple missions lead by Moriartus - look there he is now! We have gained coin and renown under his leadership!"

Deucalion nods, sitting down with Cadeweed to answer a few more specifics.

"Sir Dewey, Sigrid and Cosmo you may know from trekking with them to the abandoned quarry some weeks ago. Others possibly you have seen around the village.

The Guild came about as a way to build upon some experience of the Barrow Mounds following several costly and dangerous expeditions. The aim is to consolidate personal gifts and skills together under one enterprise that allows members to share knowledge of the labyrinth and crypts, building an overall picture as each member adds their own piece to the jigsaw as it were.

There is a seasonal fee, paid in advance of 100 gold pieces. Which may seem a hefty amount but the Guild underwrites many endeavours, not just in exploratory scouting but research into ancient relics, crafting augments, sponsoring the acquisition of spell knowledge and divine favours. Investing in upgrading member skills.

We have leased premises that are being cleared of scrubland and erecting a new meeting hall and base accommodations. In time it will host a shrine to Arcantryl.

Members all share in equal footing, though Master Jolly takes overall chairmanship. The endeavours are with equal risk and reward in terms of trove and experience. The benefits are you gain from discovered knowledge. You commitment in return is to adventure under its auspices, agreeing to certain codes of conduct and membership etiquette.

If that is of interest, we could take your application."

You commitment in return is to adventure under its auspices, agreeing to certain codes of conduct and membership etiquette.
by this an example could be joining the guild and getting access to any maps then just deciding to recruit other players or npc's to go and delve using that secret entrance or trap password/ trigger to go do your own thing or for example where the Guild might have an agreement with a maze denizen not to intrude in one particular crypt and you go blatantly against that. That sort of thing general to most fellowships.

it should also be noted the Guild is run by the players not the GM, so while I might determine random minor stuff like 'how much to build xyz', the actual management of the project, how info is shared, how you gain benefits, where and when to explore, how to interact and plan together; that is all Guild member led.

"Dufr the Far Traveler? That's very good. We have traveled quite far ourselves into the forest far to the southwest. I am indeed in need of help, yes. Our current mission is to cleanse the sacred groves of Sylvanus from a plague caused by the cult of Impurax. It's not necessarily rich in treasure, as opposed to digging up old tombs in the Moor, but most certainly if we fail, this small refuge would be in dire danger. What say you, Mr. Dufr? I can offer a full share of any treasure we find and equal fame if we succeed."

"That sounds honorable enough. I will join you."

He is wearing leather armor and armed with a long sword and sling. Carries a well stocked backpack.

"Excellent! Welcome aboard, Mr. Dufr. We leave on the 10th to visit a hermit druid named Bjornak . He is caring for a man who is apparently turning into a tree! A rather disturbing condition and one for which I expect the cult of Impurax is responsible."

Dougal enters the Brazen Strumpet and also rents a room for four nights. -8gp deducted.

He introduces himsel to Dufr and shares some drinks with him and Moriartus. -5gp for several bottles of wine and mixed grill plates.

Dougal is a ranger. He wears practical travel ropes that allow him to blend, to certain point, with the wilderness. He has leathery skin, red beard and hair. He's accompanied (if allowed in the tavern) by a big Irish wolfhound called Conmhaol.

Perseverance Hake

Hake arrives in the Brazen Strumpet, glad to be somewhere a little more cosmopolitan than Crooked Yew. He books a double room and pays in advance for food and drink during his stay. -15gp

With only a few days in town, he has several errands to run before his next departure.
