The Spiders Are Gone

Maag helps Gramble out, lending him his lantern so he can see a little better in the darkness. Watching the large room down the hall for a while longer, Maag spots no more action. By the time he reaches single digit beer bottles, he is convinced that the smaller spiders only came back for the free meal and wanted nothing to do with a dangerous fight.

After waking his relief so he can get some rest, the remainder of the night goes by uneventfully.

The morning light starts to peek in through the overhead branches, prayer, study, and other morning rituals commence. Everyone feels slightly better from a nice long rest, eager to see what lies behind the stone walls.

Having taken the last watch, he has has time to observe his morning prayers. As the others awake, he greets them.

Avaala the Grey

Avaala wakes and studies his book of lore and arcana. Once finished with that, he begins walking around, tapping the undersides of the water catches and coaxing the dew gathered there into the waterskins under them. "Any water we can gather ourselves is water we do not have to lose healing over." he says with a wink and a smile.

Jaxsen Reiter

Pleased with the prospect of not waking to yet another fight, Jaxsen uses the opening of his day for a brief set of stretching and meditation, focusing his mind on the will of Bralm and focusing his body to maintain the strength to do Her will.

Saracen awakens oblivious to last nights creepiness and centres himself to renew his light magic. Saying his benedictions to Pholtus he prays until his magic is relearned.

Standing he will ask everyone to gather all the waterskins into a pile and will cast a create Water spell to refill them all.

Gramble tells everyone of the night time visitors and to be on guard since now we know more spiders are around.

Does anyone have the spell of silence?

Saracen nods. Indeed. Perhaps we should heal a little first. He looks at Brother Gilbert.

Maag

Maag looks at the waterskins as Saracen prepares to cast his spell. His brows knit together as he prepares to articulate a brilliant idea...
...but somewhere between his brain and his mouth, it disappears.

Brother Gilbert

He looks at the group, and sees that Maag still appears to be injured. My friend, you are still in need of medical care! Let me see your wounds. He lays his hands on Maag, and prays for healing.

Once everyone is ready, Saracen refills all of the groups water vessels, leaving enough for everyone to drink their fill as well. Avaala doesn’t waste his meager gatherings either, stating that every little bit will help. Maag is about to let the others in on a really good idea, but like most of his brilliance, it fades before he can get it out.

Once prompted by Gramble, Saracen looks to brother Gilbert before he casts his spell of silence, suggesting that those in need should be healed first. The groups leader doesn't hesitate to help Maag, the worst off in the party. The lesser priest still seems to hold the favor of Pelor, as his potent spell cures the half-orc thief of all his ailments.

Saracen claps the human priests back impressed with his power.

Gathering all his items and those recovered that he needs carry, the holy champion of Pholtus moves to the strange doorway.

Before trying his spell of silence the half-orc tries a spell of curing upon his many wounds.

The light that wells forth is weak, as he suspected it would be. Saracen tries a second one also, concentrating much harder.

Once completed and feeling almost fully well, Saracen steps to the side of the gate and casts his silence spell upon it.

What's Behind The Wall?

After taking the time to heal himself first, Saracen begins to cast his prayer of silence on the area in front of the solid stone wall. Centering it on the spot just left of the copper plaque, the party is amazed at what they see develop there in the silence.

A misty doorway suddenly appears on the stone wall. The swirling, mystical patterns look like clouds upon the surface of the newly formed portal, preventing you from seeing anything in the room beyond.

The hallway is now completely silent.

Halberd in hand, Jax approaches the doorway. With sight and hearing denied him, he trusts to feel. He kneels at the entrance to the doorway and pushes his halberd along the floor into the room, making sure that there is, indeed, a floor. When his hand reaches the swirling mists, he takes a deep breath, tightens his grip on the weapon and extends his arm into the room. He then begins to sweep the halberd back and forth, trying to ascertain if the floor extends in all directions.

Avaala the Grey

Avaala, in his position behind the Monk, keeps a close eye on him, ready to attack anything that attacks Jaxsen. "Maag," he says. "Would you get a rope around his waist, in case something tries to pull him in?"

Jaxsen kneels at the misty doorway and slides his weapon through the opening. He feels a solid floor beyond the door that extends both left and right.

He feels no ill effect when his hand moves into the cloudy portal, so he pushes it in further. About 7 feet into the room, he feels a solid obstruction, possibly another stone wall similar to the others.

Avaala looks to Maag and mouths something inaudible, motioning towards his rope. Maag stares back at the mage blankly in absolute silence.

I just knew someone would try speaking.

Avaala the Grey

Avaala smacks his forehead in exasperation. He grins at Maag and shrugs. He then takes his own rope and approaches Jaxsen. He taps him on the shoulder and then wraps one end of his rope around the Monk's waist in a square knot that won't tighten if pulled. He then backs up and hands the rest of the 50' coil to Maag.

Jax looks around at his swarm. He points to himself and then into the doorway, with a questioning look on his face.

Maag

"......................." says the half-orc, cupping his hand to his ear. "..............................".

Brother Gilbert

Thought: Well, the pantomimes will be interesting. I hope we don't lose Jaxsen. I wonder where this leads.

Saracen holds up his hands, with four Fingers raised on one hand and 2 on the other. He will then hold onto the rope of the monk and wrap it around his arm also, bracing his feet ready in case something grabs the novice, ready to yank him back if necessary.
