Fourthmonth, Sixthday
Bastion
3:00 am

The snow only lasts for about an hour, coating the flagstones of Bastion's streets in a thin coat of powder. Feargus does his best to drag his feet as he circumnavigates the back alleys and narrow side streets. Bastion occupies a smaller area than Junction, penned in as it is by the terrain, but it compensates for that with verticality; most of the buildings here are two stories, and here and there structures reach three, four, or even five in height. By three hours after midnight all of the adventurers are tired, having been traveling the previous day, and beginning to give up hope. the snow has stopped but the sky is still cloud-covered, the streets pitch-black except for the occasional torch. The party has by now traversed the city multiple times, and have a general idea where the guard patrols go, how the alleys connect.

It is in one of these back alleys, at a point they judge to be roughly the furthest away from the standard guard patrols, that it happens. From just up ahead of Feargus there's a strange droning, buzzing sound, and a dark shape floats out of a side street. That is all Feargus, Newton, and Telemachus see before their vision goes dark.

Some fifty yards back, in the shadows of a building, Aldus hears a strange sound, almost like the buzzing of an insect's wings, and several muted thumps, as if large sacks of potatoes hitting the ground.
Adventurers are exhausted, suffering a -1 penalty to all rolls until they can rest for a day. Note, too, that this was not an encounter that was guaranteed to happen.
Random Encounter (1-2):: 1d6 2
Surprise on 1-2:: 1d6 1 Party is suprised.

The range of the drone is 60 feet. I'm going to say this potentially affects Feargus, Telemachus, and Newton: Feargus, Newton, Telemachus, Save v Spells:: 3#1d20 8 12 6 Maybe Newton saves? Nope, he needs a 13.

Can Aldus hear the noise? I'm giving him advantage on the roll: http://orokos.com/roll/749375: 2#1d20 19 7 Oh yeah, he hears that.

Aldus waves to the other party members, and sprints to a place where he can see what is going on, eager to fire an arrow, should a likely target present itself.

Round One

Aldus steps forward, towards the noise. He sees, at the very limit of his vision, a shape that could be Feargus on the ground, with some large, bulky, dark shape atop it, before the drone overtakes him and he collapses, insensate, to the ground.

The rest of the adventurers sees Aldus advance cautiously before crumpling in a heap.

It's dark, he's going to have to move closer to see. I'm going to assign a 1-3 in 8 chance he stumbles over either Aldus or Telemachus, and a 1-3 in 6 chance that, if he does, he wakes one or the other up: http://orokos.com/roll/749424: 1d8 5 1d2 2 1d6 6

Nope. But Aldus has to Save v Spells: http://orokos.com/roll/749425: 1d20-1 0
Feargus takes 10 hp damage.

I assumed, possibly incorrectly, that you guys brought your henchmen along as well? At this point, Aldus, Feargus, Newton, and Telemachus are all asleep, Gardo -- and I'm assuming at least some henchmen -- are awake, but too far away to see anything but Aldus collapsing.

Casfrea

Not known for shirking from a fight, Casfrea draws her 2H sword and sprints toward the drone, growling out a war cry.
She'll probably fail her Spells save, too, but she doesn't know that!

Gardo

"Damn! Let's go! Keep an eye upwards and a couple stay back a few steps." Drawing his sword, he charges with a fluidity that belies a man wearing armor (use some of that Athletics there).

Round Two

Those adventurers still awake, upon seeing Aldus collapse, leap into action. Promptly Gardo, Casfrea, and Wulfka are all overcome by the drowsing drone, while Ribar, on the verge of collapsing, draws upon some inner strength and fights off the compulsion. Notai and Goshawk sprint forward alongside the cleric. The trio behold a horrible sight; Feargus is on the ground, as pale as the snow, and perched atop him is a bloated, winged creature, looking rather like a fly the size of a large dog, with a long, slender probiscus -- currently buried in Feargus's chest -- and disgustingly human arms! Distracted by the sight, Goshawk trips over something invisible and, while he doesn't fall, is too startle to do anything.

The strange creature -- which also bears more than a passing resemblence to a stirge, the nuisance of dungeons -- looks up at the adventurers and regards them with strangely intelligent, but also alien, eyes!

Let me know if Ribar and Notai want to do anything during Round Two. They're about thirty feet away from the creature and Feargus.
Since Feargus has the Lucky Knack I'm going to go ahead and reroll his save for him now: http://orokos.com/roll/749458: 1d20-1 9
Ugh, crappy rolls!
I've got a feeling he's going to take the second reroll (the first happens during Round One, the second during Round Two: http://orokos.com/roll/749460: 1d20-1 9 Damn, that's not good!
Feargus takes 13 damage: http://orokos.com/roll/749459: 4d4 13

Initiative: PC's first:: 2#1d6 1 2

Gardo, Ribar and the creature act simultaneously:

Gardo:http://orokos.com/roll/749462: 1d20-1 8 Well. I'm going to assume he makes use of a reroll here: http://orokos.com/roll/749464: 1d20-1 3 Well, that's not great.

Let me make saves for the other characters: http://orokos.com/roll/749468: 5#1d20-1 11 2 6 15 16Notai and Goshawk save. Ribar is going to take that reroll: http://orokos.com/roll/749469: 1d20-1 19
Ribar charges out
Wulfka charges out
Casfrea charges out
Notai charges out. While Notai does get a +1 bonus to initiative while out of doors, I'm going to rule that Bastion is still rather claustrophobic for her, given my previous descriptions of it.
Goshawk charges out.

Chance to stumble, which PC, chance to wake up:: 3#1d8 8 8 1 3#1d2 2 1 2 3#1d6 1 4 2
Goshawk loses his action for the round but trips and wakes Telemachus up. Telemachus can act in Round Three.
EDIT:
Gardo rerolls:http://orokos.com/roll/749624: 1d20-1 2 Ugh, the rolls are just not in y'all's favor on these saves!

Can you clarify the Lucky re-rolls that you've used for Feargus? To me it looks like:

1. Failed Save
2. Lucky Re-roll (not so lucky)
3. Round 1: 10 Damage
4. Round 2: 13 Damage

So can I get a re-roll on round 2 damage? 13 on 4d4 seems pretty unlucky and I need a little luck.

Goshawk stumbles to a stop in horror, seeing his employer brutally being savaged by a...thing. He glances back to see what he stumbled over and sees nothing.

I actually went ahead and rerolled the Save twice; both were fails, which is extraordinarily unlucky. I'm somewhat loathe to reroll damage, since you knwo that second roll was a failure, but since I didn't ask (I presumed you would want to succeed on the save again, as the attack is basically an autohit while he's asleep) how you wanted to use it I'll let you reroll damage and cancel that second use of Lucky.

Telemachus

The mage stumbles to his feet, sees the horror in front of him, and casts Sleep on the drone.

Ribar

While horrified by the disgusting creature, Ribar keeps his wits and sees if he can wake Gardo.
Round 2 action. Chose Gardo because he must be the closest of the PCs, and he's a warrior

Round Two, cont

Ribar kneels and quickly rouses Gardo, while Notai slings her spear and shield and, setting an arrow to bowstring, launches a missile at the foul creature. It flies true, sinking deep into the flabby flesh, and there's a momentary pause as the creature turns its disturbingly human-like eyes towards the brave.
Intentions for Round Three: Gardo, Goshawk, Notai, Ribar, and Telemachus may act. It takes one round to wake a sleeping individual.
Creature: 40-4
As noted in the edited IC post and OOC post, Gardo still fails the save, but Ribar wakes him. Both he and Telemachus will be able to act in Round Three. Notai will fire an arrow from her short bow: http://orokos.com/roll/749626: 1d20+3 22 1d6+1 7
And that hits! Sadly, non-magical weapons only inflict half damage upon this creature, but still, finally a good roll!

Ribar seems pleased that he managed to awake Gardo, and heads over the Aldus to wake the sleeping thief.

Goshawk charges straight in, polearm forward trying to get the creature off Feargus.
If he believes that a trip attack will break the thing's grip on Feargus, he'll try that since he's proficient. If not he will attempt a Force Back maneuver unskilled (Come on Nat 20!); If the thing falls asleep, he'll charge point first with the polearm

Gardo

Pulling himself out of slumber with the help of Ribar, Gardo gets up and continues his charge, abandoning all thoughts of subduing the creature and going for outright slaughter.

Do you want Notai to act?
