Gaughan's “warband” have settled apart from the other Guardsmen near the southern pool. As they arrive Gaughan cautions his men “Don't drink it, now! There's some poor fella's guts blown all over just a few metres upstream”.

Carrying his falx Gaughan looks like some ancient warrior. He has his CES loose to his waist and his broad shoulders bear deep cuts that will need stitches. He is covered in blood which can't all be his own but, as Jess approaches, a cheerful smile breaks through his dark brooding countenance and wincing he waves at her with his red right hand. Behind him the saturnine Lannigan sits silently on a rock his dark eyes watchful as he cleans off the butt of his ACR. The cloth snags on something and Lannigan draws his bayonet to prise free an embedded tooth.

Gaughan greets Frank and Jess “Colonel Cross, sir, and the Sergeant Major! It's turning into a lovely day for it so it is. I'd salute but I've taken a bit of a knock – all the lads have. We're also not in the Guard anymore because we voted to leave”. He adds “Or deserted - I suppose”. He continues “We all need a medic true enough but the Guard medbay's nothing a man would want to look on... for fear he'd remember it. You should probably report that to someone, sir. The fellas that did it...” He glances at Lannigan who nods once and discards the unwanted tooth. “...are all dead. They called themselves terrorists and yet they seemed awfully fearful men when it came to it. Ine Givar men so they said they were - but not any more”. Gaughan gestures dismissively at the other prisoners “These other fools were just making up the numbers”.

Gaughan raises an eyebrow at Frank's last and winces at the effort “More folk coming to visit? Well, there's a thing!” He asides “Lannigan - weapons and ammo. Take Costello - and Quigley in case there's locks. Then see what that mad auld fool Guylai will take for a loan of his trolley. If anyone argues remind them that military discipline doesn't really fit well with deserters”.

"Strictly you might call it desertion, but from what I know of your officers they didn't deserve to be followed, so I don't have a problem with that. Our medical ability is limited, but we will do what we can. As for the newcomers, they're just arriving in orbit, sent fighters in advance. You might have heard them overfly earlier. If my hunch is right they are Vagr, Outworld Coalition. So it seems that the local issue of workers rights has blossomed into the Outworld Coalition wanting to keep this place out of Imperial hands, not that the delegation is Imperial as such, but I can see how it might look. If the Vagr is who I think it is then we've worked with them before, and I'm hoping we can negotiate something. If we can't we should be ready, but I will be honest and say the odds will be against us, they are formidable"

He will set off steadily north moving with Dog as escort to Freya.

Charlie's irritatingly chirpy voice comes over the team channel "Ma'am, I'm 'ere to 'elp aht. Sarn't Major always says you can't do enough for a good corporal! I'm at the left 'and side of the norf 'atch. I've 'ad a butchers but can't see a dickie bird”.

Having introduced himself to Prerna's chain of command he drops off the comm but Prerna can hear him good naturedly trading insults with Baker from his position at the hatch.

Freya is using the bot to look through the glass-ceiling; Take a picture, Take another a minute later; compare the two for movement below. Take another a minute later...compare back to picture one. As an indoor space, there is almost no natural movement (except the water surface) so anything moving outside the water should stand out. Even if the target is invisible, the things they are touching will get moved. There are places she can't see, but the chances of someone looking up to the roof for a stealth drone while there is the potential for ground combat seem minimal.

(I'll also take a quick swing round outside just to check we don't have 300 drop troops on the roof or descending on it)

Kit can now be anywhere he likes in the lower pool room and actually one square through either northern hatch although check Prerna's tactical situation first!

(OOC: This is something of a placeholder just until he can declare where he'd like to be! )

Kit continues his planned path and joins that band heading into the northern room looking for the sniper via the northwestern door. While the team is using the probe to try to locate the sniper, after he has reached the northern wall, he lowers his weapon and and again looks at his portable computer to see if the near useless "security system" can give him any additional insights either about the sniper or other active insurgents.

"Major Nayar, since the SEMC was nice enough the loan me a rifle, I thought it was only fair I joined this Charlie Foxtrot." I hope that I understood the Major's location correctly.

Just as clarification Prerna's (now reinforced) team are "doin' it old skool infantry stylie*" via the eastern/righthand north leading hatch (above the fountain) while Freya (and her escort) are adopting something more "new kids on the block/scientifical" with a drone via the western/lefthand north leading hatch.

Both hatches lead to the bigger/swimming pool room (see map).

Prerna's team have actually entered the swimming pool room - drawing fire in the process.

* As is entirely evident from my discourse above I am down with the kids! ).

Not at all! On your route northwards you are ideally placed to assess what's occurring at both doors. Therefore please feel free to choose which one to be at!

Jess smiles back at Gaughan. Tell me ter be careful, turn up lookin' like steak tartare yerself.

Now, let me glue yer up fer now an' I'll move on er the ones as are wounded. 'An put yer frellin' suit on properly. I'm runnin' short on supplies, won't patch yer up again. she grumbles to herself as she seals his cuts with tissue adhesive and steri-strips: Tryin' ter work here, an there's you distractin' me..

Jess sets about assessing the Guard's injuries and administering first aid.

"Sargent Gaughan, I shall leave you in the good hands of the Sargent-Major and Sargent Dawson. Do you have comms? If so, I can link you into our system if you wish. If your men are that injured then I suggest you meet with the rest of the SEMC in our quarters, there is safety in numbers. I'm also happy to accept any that feel up to searching out the final insurgents and finding this sniper, in a controlled manner of course."

Frank and Jess

Gaughan replies to Frank “The lads have fight enough left in them but if it's a few stragglers you're chasing then fitter men might serve better. We might be wise to gather up our kit from the accommodation before things get awkward with the Baron”.

Jess casts her eye over Gaughan's band – they are all bruised and bloodied but in no way beaten men like the other Guard. Each has a weapon, ACRs mostly, although a couple have the support version but are using rifle mags possibly for want of ammo. There's a dozen all told. Some are more seriously wounded than others but from the confident look of them and their weapons handling all are quality infantrymen.

Gaughan cleans himself off in the pool and then sits patiently as Jess tends his wounds. He replies innocently “Did I distract you now?” and then winces as Jess applies “distracted” first aid. He continues with a more than a hint of mischief “Join someone else's army? That didn't work out so well for us the last time but I suppose I could ask the lads if they've a fancy for it. Will you be stayin' on?”

He continues “If we did join you then the lads would need to be kept together. You see they're terrible shy with new people, then there's their special dietary needs to manage and they can take oddly to the discipline side if it's not explained carefully to them. Sure, they're no bother at all”.

Jess then “medicates” the unit. While Gaughan isn't much better she is confident that all of the walking wounded will improve with time and that the two stretcher cases are stabilised (and actually now on stretchers).

Both Frank and Jess now become aware of a "contact" in the main pool room to the north.

Prerna

Prerna and Easy sprint up the stairs and hurl themselves prone onto the southern balcony. It seems their precautions are wise as the (solid) balustrade/parapet at the stair's top erupts from multiple high energy strikes causing the stonework to melt and smoke.

As she gathers her wits Prerna realises she saw none of the distinctive flash from a plasma or fusion high energy weapon.
