Off Duty (OOC)
Re: Off Duty (OOC)
I saw a BMW the other day. Reminded me of a Toyota. Anyway, back to the Firehouse, since the RP is quickly reaching a point where we need to know where this is taking place location wise. Is there a place you guys are interested in? I know some of you have been scouring maps.

I like this building tbh:

I think it has a similar shape and feel to the NYC while being unique. Plus the square footage. I just roughed out a floor plan so If we wanted to go with it we could plan it out, or if the GM already has a layout i can go off that.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Works for me! I can tell you that the building has two full floors as well as a "half floor" on top for attic space. There is also the basement garage with ramps behind the building leading down into it from the back alley. It'd be a great space.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Yeah, we're going with that one. I like it too, but I'm going to do some cosmetic work on the exterior. I was going to play with the floorplan, myself, but if you'd like to take that on, Taaz, that's great.
One thing I'd suggest is try not to make it too efficient/modern. I'd like the building to have brick interior walls, old wood, poor wiring, maybe even some asbestos here and there that's better off not disturbed. ;P We can work on renovating it over time, but at the start, I'd like it to be pretty rough.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
sweet, ive been looking around the neighborhood on streetview too. Ill get more done on this but yeah assuming renovations are acceptable i was going to do a front lobby/waiting room can easily get 4 large rooms in the back, especially if there is an underground garage. So offices, labs, workbenches and stuff are options, conference room comes to mind. Upstairs living quarters so that depends if we wanted full sized like efficiency apartments or go full minimal like a dorm or just cots in a room. Den/living room and Kitchen/Dining room could go in the back there are lots of windows back there. Ideas? Im open to however much we are allowed to dictate this, and wanna make sure everyone digs it.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
I assume the containment system would be on the garage level? It seems like he safest and most convenient place for it. Jake's going to want a workspace for the Ecto as well as his motorbike though. Maybe someday we can install one of those caged service elevators. They're pretty cool and I dig the industrial look.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
I do love the crap out of them, but id be ok with a hydraulic lift with a steel floor cage and they are simple enough Jason could build that given the time and materials.
Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Well, funny you bring up how much you can dictate! This goes back into how much you want to invest to begin with. This first investment is very much what gets added. It takes $2k as a bare minimum to pay the bills, meaning lights and water are on and Julia is getting paid. beyond that each month that you invest more it equals out to more creature comforts and equipment that exist off screen to in general make life easier. Things will start off rough anyway, like has been mentioned already. As you continue to invest, the building itself will improve.
Right now what you have is:
Basic barracks beds
basic kitchen
offices with simple desks and chairs
basic tools downstairs for Ecto
basic lab
Charging station for Equipment
Containment Unit
Backup generator that is hooked up to the Containment unit only.
Basic cable internet for the computers.

Well remember, the original Ghostbusters were eating the last meal they could afford with their petty cash when they got their first call. Let's hope it doesn't come down to that for us. We're still waiting for at least one or two more though, yeah?

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
This is what I have so far for floor plans I wanted to see what everyone else thought. There were a few places I wasnt sure what we wanted to make the room. I know we need lab and workshop, maybe a gym. I also didnt know how furnished to make it but i wanted some stuff to just get a sense of the room and help remember what it was. im not married to anything so if you want to suggest changes hit me with them.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
I love what you have done here! Only things I would add are partly from the tour of the original building I once got and something to help later.
1st, the basement garage is as large as the base of the building minus about 3 feet one all outside walls (Precaution against the clay heavy dirt in the area) so you have a lot more room for garage works than you thought.
Another thing is to remember there is a large half floor (3rd) for an attic space that can be storage etc. So you need access to that and from there is also access to the roof.
One other thing, I would say have 6 bunk since I plan to allow up to 6 in the game at any one point.
AWESOME work!

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Both the Ecto and the firehouse look good! I heard mention of a gym- Lionel is DEFINITELY in favor of a big gym.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Excellent, yeah I was going to model the roof too, I was even going to put a ghostbuster logo put like a helipad, even if we dont have anything to land there or whatever it would look cool
Excellent on the basement. Is the current containment system like the films, red box on the wall or more like the super up cartoon one. I personally hope it's the later but either way.

I'll tell you what, graphic people. Go crazy. What kind of Containment do you want? There is new tech involved since 30 years ago, so you can really go crazy!Taaz wrote:Excellent, yeah I was going to model the roof too, I was even going to put a ghostbuster logo put like a helipad, even if we dont have anything to land there or whatever it would look cool![]()

Far as the basement goes, I would say have a section reserved for utilities like water and sewer coming in and out, a Boiler for heat, Upstairs is where I would imagine the hotwater tank being. AC unit could be on the roof, but to be honest most of the older buildings in that part of town only have a couple window units.... if you are lucky. Once we resolve the money issue, I will give you a better idea of what can or is already being done to improve things.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
Awesome, I am a fan of the beefed up one i saw someone remix them where it was the large round platform from the cartoon but it had the movie styled box as the same input system. I always thought that was pretty cool. Yeah there will be sections i just block off as like "utilities rooms"

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
The gym needs to be on the 2nd floor, I think, near the showers, lol. Maybe swap that space with the library? The workshop can be sectioned off from the garage. I prefer the suped-up containment unit from the cartoon, personally. We'll leave a couple of areas open on the first floor for the time being until we decide what to do with them. Let's leave space for the bbq and hot tub on the roof too.

Re: Off Duty (OOC)
You... i like you. i already planned for a grill and some patio furniture for up there. I figured the gym might be in the basement too and would have its own shower stall, but second floor might make more sense there. I guess i should actually look at firehouse and dorm floor plans since im mostly winging it off of how ive seen old buildings retrofitted.Zeromancer wrote:Let's leave space for the bbq and hot tub on the roof too.
