Round 2
While a beat slower than the party, the nimble rats, with their natural weapons, are able to draw first blood... and, in some cases, do. A yelp is heard coming from Fulp as he battles against a pair of the large rodents (r3) (r4) , after evidently being bitten by one them. The stick-wielding human brings his solid wood weapon down on one of the offending rats eliciting a pained squeal as its life escapes it.

One of the rats (r2) moves on from the fallen dwarf and turns its attention to Ciar, but it and the halfing exchange meaningless blows.

Moments before Sylvan is able to cast his spell, the rat at his foot (r1) bites him and interrupts the casting. Sparrow, leaping down from the rock, lands next to the druid, but is unable to land a blow with either his club or his dagger.

Kassal maintains his illusion, having his four fake ranged attackers keep their bows trained on the rats, but not actually fire into melee since all creatures are currently engaged with a companion.

Fulp fights back the urge to flee against such overwhelming odds and swings his walking stick one more time against his recent nemesis, r4.

Sparrow continues his feeble attempt at trying to kill the rat in front of him, wondering why he ever got into the fighting business in the first place.

Round 3
The nimble rats, with their natural weapons, are again able to attack first. While Sylvan is able to escape harm, both Fulp and Ciar somehow manage to get bitten, with Fulp teetering on the edge of consciousness. After Ciar, Sylvan, and Sparrow all swing wildly, Fulp fights through the pain and cracks down hard on the rat he's engaged with, eliminating yet another threat.

Kassal continues to maintain his illusion.

Sylvan sees the health of his allies wane, but fights on before tending to them. He hacks again with his scimitar.

Sparrow also presses the attack, again swinging club and dagger at the giant rodent in front of him.

Good thing we didn't just barge in there. We can't even kill the kobolds pets!!!

Fulp will exit the battle as fast as he can. Once clear, he will look to bind his wounds.
if he can squeeze through the 70/54 section he will. If not, he will stay behind Ciar and retreat that way, keeping an eye and stick on the remaining rats.

Round 4
The rats continue to attack quickly, but are unsuccessful in their efforts. Fulp backs out of the immediate area of conflict and begins to tend to his own wounds. Meanwhile, Kassal enters the fray, moving to Grim's side, where he finds the dwarf to be unconscious, but stable.

Ciar ends his streak of ineffectiveness with a well-placed strike that slices through the hide of the rat he's been battling, ending its life. After Sylvan is unable to land a successful blow, Sparrow clubs the rat the pair have been battling, dazing the creature, then follows up that strike with a slice of his dagger which ends the threat.

Fulp quickly calls out to his fellow rat killers,
I believe my wounds are beyond what I learned in school. I need a zap of that wand, please.

Oh, and we need a better plan. We almost succumbed to a handful of rodents.
He looks at his hand, to make sure no fingers were bitten off.

We either need to recruit half the town, or come up with a net or other trapping mechanism before we go after an army of kobolds.

"We could do with utilising more missile fire before melee is engaged." says the gnome with a sigh.

He will assist in helping Grim, calling the Druid over with his magical wand.

Fulp quickly replies,
Yes, but it doesnt seem we have the knowledge or skill to do so. I certainly dont. And a few stone or arrows will only remove the first two or three before the group is fighting among us. No, we need more than just an archer it seems. At least before we attack this tunnel.

Grim continues to lie on the ground, not moving.

Ciar shrugs, "First things first. Let's get Grim back on his feet and anyone healed that needs healing. Then we should get these dead rats moved out of here and make sure this tunnel is secured."

He leaves the healing to anyone who can heal and begins dragging a giant rat body out of the boulders and to the north just a bit.

Once all of the rats have been moved, Ciar volunteers to enter the tunnel again and see if there is anything left alive in it.

"But first, after the pit trap and a rat bite or two, I could use a hit from that wand, as well..."

Im good yet, says Sparrow with a wave of his hand. He helps move the dead rats and agrees that we should check out the damage, if any, to the kobolds lair.

I purchased a net in town. I though it might come in handy out here in the right circumstance. If we can scare a few more into running outside, we could trap a bunch of em at one time.

Ciar grunts as he drags a rat corpse, "If... they're... all... rats..."
