Sorry, thought I had been monitoring that thread well enough and guess I missed it. Will do now.Keehnelf wrote:He's recovered too, then!
p.s. Can you do your bowshots in the archery competition at Harrowing?

So what's the next step? Pack up as much silver as you can haul and head back? Wait for the griffin? Go off to (find and) fight the dragon?

Olympia will take as much coin as she can handle, and defer to Val whether or not to await the griffin.
"I'd be for returning home with all this loot, however we handle that," she says. "If we find any more treasure, would we even be able to take it, with the mighty haul we have now?"

How much space do you have? i.e. how many sacks, of what kind, how much room in your backpack?

Large sack, and the only thing in her backpack are rations and her bedroll, which might be strapped on top of the pack, if its like some camping set-ups I've seen.
Re: Expedition - Valorei/Elves II - 2 April, 1 VC
Yeah, I think we established earlier on that the expectation is that the bedroll is strapped over or under with a flap to protect it from rainfall.
So deduct the weight of your rations -- 1 pound per day -- from your 40 pound backpack capacity and that x10 is how many coins you can carry in it.
A large sack can carry 60 pounds, or 600 coins, but takes both hands to haul if you're talking long distance carrying--it can be held in one hand by someone sufficiently strong over short time periods.

I missed it and can't find it now--how many coins do we have, 600?
Olympia's backpack can carry 320 coins. She'd be willing to take some in her sack, but she's still sorta weak and would prefer to keep her hands free.
Maybe she could take half capacity in the sack?

Some magic user needs to research a spell of Transport Loot. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Floating Disc (Level 1) only last an hour, but it carries 500 pounds! A second level mage could get two hours of travel time out of it every day!
Conjure Elemental (Level 5) slows you by 1/2 but could carry a LOT, for a long time. Invisible Stalker (Level 6) wants to kill, but you could make it carry instead. Simulacrum (Level 7) could double the number of people you have to carry things around! Teleport (Level 5) would be terrifically convenient.
Or you could invent, you know, pack animals![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Oh, yeah, you wouldn't impose any travel time penalties on us for trying to bring a bunch of pack animals (and possibly a wagon) with us through the forest. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
But it's a fair point. We should start thinking about bringing wagons and guards along on these trips.

Of course there would be travel time penalties, but that's just how it would work. With no roads or anything, it'd be slower. But more likely to get you big loads of coin home than just relying on your own two hands.

Varas will wait for the griffin with Valorei (I think that's what the elf is doing). "You're a strange guy, Val, but I'll wait here with you. I think we should also let Dorvar and Olympia rest up for a bit. We can guard the eggs, too."
With ample time on his hands, Varas will fill his two saddlebags with the coins.
There should also be 6 days' worth of feed in the bags...but I'm not sure how much space that takes up.

1 lb per day, like with human food.

OK, so that leaves 54 lbs of capacity. Varas will load up Mustard with 540 coins. "I'm sorry, girl. Won't happen again" he coos as he pets her neck affectionately.
Re: Expedition - Valorei/Elves II - 2 April, 1 VC
Actually it's more about the capacity of the bags than of the horse--she can carry another 140 lbs before she's significantly encumbered, but the bags themselves are bulging!

Val simply smiles at Vara's compliment?, content to wait and guard the eggs for the Griffin mother.
Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.

April 9, 1 VC - 8:00
The day simply crawls by, after the morning is spent counting coins and distributing them among some of the group's containers to the extent possible. A thorough accounting reveals that there are 6081 silver pieces in the stash that the group managed to recover in total (do with that what you will).
Night comes again, and in the morning everyone feels thoroughly rested and very, very restless. As the group begins its discussion of what to do with the day and whether to depart before much longer, the figure of a griffin comes into sight flying low over the trees to the east, skimming against the water of the pond before landing on the small island. After a few minutes longer, the griffin leaps into the air and glides across to the trampled area near the shoreline where the party first met her.
The griffin lowers her head in greeting to the party, seeking out Valorei with her large black eyes. She lets out an avian shriek, and then begins to speak.
Once again, in Elven:
