Okay, gone over the Werewolf's sheet & going back through the IC threads.

You should have gotten 1 Advancement in Scene 3, now that I'm going back through the threads. I should call out your XP & Rukellian's as you earn them since Metal Fatigue has his down.

Seth should have 1 XP mark in Scene 4, I think. So you're at 1 box for XP.

Go ahead and pick a Werewolf advancement for Seth!
Going with Unstable, since Seth obviously isn't very shy about becoming that darkest self. Which brings another question, I doubt it will happen but say he actually changes twice in 1 scene, is that still 1 XP or 2 now? So does he mark XP for EVERY change?

As for the strings, I took strings down as a last resort kind of thing and so far my rolls haven't been so bad or the situation hasn't been dire enough for me to want to use those strings to succeed. I may be thinking about them wrong though...

Carrying over the conversation in scene 4...

I will try to get out of my habit of posting and waiting for a response routine, when in this game. I'm always used to waiting on some other player to respond, or giving them the oppurtunity to respond. For example, Metal Fatigue, if given the chance, would have wanted his character to interrupt Clark in mid-speech with a punch to the face. In a face to face situation, I would have respected that decision and stopped, but I guess I can't do that in this style of gameplay. If I post, I will have to make sure I convey what I want to see happen, and make it happen. That means talking in complete speeches, listing out full action sequences and not cutting it short to wait for another character's response, midway. This would mean trying to abuse every single oppurtunity I get in pulling off a successful move, gaining experience as much as I can.

I know you keep on saying that I need to be more proactive in my decision and move making, but I always fear that I may take it too far... :? *sigh* sorry for being such a problem right now. Eventually I will catch on to what I need to be doing, eventually.

Ruke, you're learning a new system. Don't worry about it, you'll get the hang of it ;)

As for Seth in Scene 4... The whole Vanessa thing seems to be kind of an ender, or can there be more? Like a fast forward to after the forest rump? So far I've just been chilling until Scene 5.

yes, it's tough to switch over to a more player-driven system. DnD is way more about the DM throwing crap at you, and then deciding. This game is the opposite, but I can always do the DnD route in a bind.

Think about ending a post with a Move every time. How does your character drive up the drama? DnD is about de-escalation, whereas sh.t gets out of hand in this game. You're going to clash with the system for a while, but that is natural.

Darkest Self is a harder thing. It's like Werewolf puberty.

I should have played it harder for Seth in Scene 3. Maybe the nurse didn't hit the deck, and stood up to block Seth. Then he would have had to tear her in half. No option.

So you only hit Darkest Self one time so far, really.

Max 1 XP per stat or skin move per scene. So, 1 XP in that situation.

She launches herself at him through the open window, smashing and clawing, trying to do as much damage as possible to this thing that must have come back from the dead to trouble them all, if her vision from yesterday is correct. Lashing out: 2d6+2=11. Dealing great harm, so Clark has suffered a cumulative total of 3 Harm. I'll stipulate that the Shut Down already went through, but if it hadn't, Summer would spend her String on Clark for a further 1 Harm.
Oh my... Someone woke up on the wrong side of back alley today...

Ah, works for me.

Thanks again for helping me and Ruke out, It really does help a lot to have someone who's played it before

I reeeeally think we're getting close to scene end here, and I repeat what I said earlier about session end.

We can wrap up the session after this scene. I'll also see if anyone is interested in being a transfer student & joining us mid-game.

Wait, so nothing about my post got carried over, other than being interrupted and mauled by Summer?!

Damn. Would my character have at least done the logical thing and roll up the window before he received any fatal damage? You know, speeding off in his vehicle...

Who carries on monologuing while being clawed to death by an angry girl?

Trying to shove Summer out the window and drive away at high speed constitutes Running Away, as the MC said.

When you post something with multiple paragraphs of dialogue in the middle of an action scene, you have to be ready to go back and edit if something interrupts you. That's just how it is, in any game.

I see... sorry. My old DnD habits are getting in the way again.

So, I'll be honest with everyone, I started this game just to try it out since I've never played it and it seemed interesting. I didn't actually think too much of the game and didn't really think it would be something great.

But I have actually really come to enjoy the game, and playing the game with all of you. I'm having a bunch of fun playing the werewolf of this story and hopefully you all are having as much fun as I am.

Same. Perhaps this will gain enough momentum in the future to kick off a new campaign, allowing us to try different skins and character types. It would be cool if we could complete one storyline and then start a new one in the same world we shaped and as different characters, interacting with our old characters who are now npcs, or at least the ones that are alive :P

Maybe even continue on with our current characters but not having the limitation of school holding them back, having graduated and all that. What was it the reference guide called it, seasons?

Once you graduate, the world changes. Monsterhearts is really designed for the sweatbox of high school, not the looser environment of college. But I don't think we're going to get through anything like the whole school year this season. We might pick up after Thanksgiving for the second season, or something.

Changing characters is one of the end-of-season advancement options, but only one. You can also change the skin of your existing character (there are actual rules for doing that, as opposed to the handwavey way Q.Q did it in mid-season, which is fine btw), or get kick-ass "growing up" moves to reflect that your character has learned something.

all of that would be awesome

And as for new skins, on the off chance that Seth doesn't make it or ends up leaving with his pack before the game is over I'm rolling up an angel from the additional skins area.

I'm thinking an angel that was cast out because of the choices he made with a certain... dark emissary? I'm thinking they knew each other back in heaven before everything went to shit and now he is back to either stop her or turn her back to the light.... I don't, I saw the skin and thought that would be awesome, two angels for a final climactic battle of good vs evil!

Always cool.

BTW I'm thinking Summer may eventually take the "Final Showdown" move from the Chosen skin and try to kill the Emissary, once she finds out there is such a thing. Just so you know.
