Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Mason will likewise advance to the feet of the skelly as he continues to search for hidden floor switches or trip lines. He will advance slowly, trying to control the weight applied to each step very deliberate.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Elsa the half-orc fighter follows behind Mason as he checks along the way for traps. She will follow his footsteps literally if such movement does not set off traps. Elsa also observes if the pews are bolted into the floor or freestanding. She surveys the ceiling and walls for any unusual or suspicious features.

Likewise; Xale will follow his taller companions into the room cautiously; with his shield and hammer at the ready....

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Eduardo steps out of the tunnel and follows along behind those on the path, but hanging back onwards the last row of pews. He scans the shadows around the alter area and behind for any movement, pulling one of his javelins from its sheath, poised to throw. He experiences feelings of malaise.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
The rest of the party files into the chapel, most hanging back by the wall for safety.
Mason advances to the feet of the skeleton. The floor remains solid underneath his feet. As he approaches the skeleton that pointing toward the archway filled with orange mist, he sees that its black chain mail is badly worn and torn.
Elsa follows in Mason’s footsteps, looking about her as she goes. The pews are attached to the floor. She sees nothing unusual about the ceiling or walls, other than the scenes painted on the walls.
Eduardo also follows, stopping at the front row of pews. He scans the shadows around the altar area and behind for movement, but sees none.
Malibran stands in the middle of the north wall and intones the words ”gotchus deprehensio”. Red auras of warning appear in his vision around the front row of pews and the altar.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex says, "Well, my hope was that Mason could clear the room of any traps before everyone came in. Less chance for any traps to catch more than one of us. I will cast Detect Magic and scan the room. Ula, Stay. He puts Lucky in the tunnel and says stay here for a bit.---Cigam Tected" Cast Detect Magic.
Abrex starts at his location and scans down the side wall then pivot and scan down the back wall and walk forward onto the path pivoting to scan each rows until I get to the middle and scan down the path towards the alter and step forward 10 ft. Abrex doesn't leave the path. From the center path he will scan left and right toward the alter as he moves closer to the alter 10 ft at a time. Near the alter he stops and scans left and right. This should detect magic for the whole room if he makes it that far.
OOC-This would be more fluid than it seems written out.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
"Mason, ware the front pews and altar there... my detection spell has evoked a warning in those areas for traps!"
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex intones the words "Mumbo jumbo deprehensio" and methodically moves about the room. The altar reveals itself to be magical as well as trapped. The arch filled with orange mist is, unsurprisingly, also magical. The chair also radiates an aura of magic. The rest of the room is almost disappointingly mundane.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Shield raised against possible threat, Elsa the Curious tosses a dead asp into the arch, and another one onto the chair.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Xale and Malvexa move into the room cautiously and the Dwarven warrior-priest goes to stand near the asp-flinging Half-orc and raises his Shield and stands ready to assist her if any traps should be set off....
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Elsa, ever curious, tosses an asp into the arch and onto the chair. She hears the first asp land on the other side of the arch with a soft plop. The second asp disappears as soon as it lands on the chair!

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Elsa the Fair
"There be strange sorceries here," says Elsa to the group, pointing out the disappearing asp on the chair. She is still amazed at seeing magics, despite her long career and experience with things arcane. "Did the asp disintegrate - but no ashes? Or did it teleport somewhere?"

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Elsa ponders the strange magics in this place. None of her companions offers an answer to her query about the fate of the snake she tossed onto the chair.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex will look at the walls to see if there are non-magical writings there, while on the path.
Abrex says to all, " The altar reveals itself to be magical as well as trapped. The arch filled with orange mist is, unsurprisingly, also magical. The chair also radiates an aura of magic. The rest of the room is almost disappointingly mundane. He then responds to Elsa saying, I believe it teleported since there is no residual ash or something similar to a teleportation. Living tissue may differ from dead tissue with effects, so be careful everyone. I suggest everyone stay on the path and go back to the tunnel until this room is figured out."
Abrex studies the chair and arch more closely but does not touch them. As Malibran has pointed out that the front row of pews and the altar are trapped so we can surmise that they are not beneficial to us in nature and should be left alone.
He tells Ula and Lucky, "Stay in the tunnel my friends. There are still concerns within this room."
Abrex then tells the others, "Should we risk activating anything in this room, it might be best to station the rest of the party in the tunnel while the brave soul(s) activates any object(s). Mason can you examine the skeletal remains more closely during your search of the front part of the room? To the rest of ya, if you chose to remain in the room the risk is on your head."

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
The monk responds "Aye, I will take a look." Mason gives the skeleton a careful going over, intending to pick the chest piece loose. "Place this on the alter perhaps?" He asks the group.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Xale will risk the room; moving along the path; being careful not to touch anything; especially the areas his fellows have warned him are entrapped and/or enchanted. He will carefully visually inspect the room; not touching anything; but checking out the stonework of the walls, the floor and the ceiling and of course the pews, archway and Altar; though not touching anything other than the pathway....
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex reports his findings to the rest of the group and recommends that they retreat into the tunnel until the room is “figured out.” He sends his animal friends back into the tunnel.
Mason gives the skeleton a careful going over. The skeleton’s black chain mail is badly rusted and torn. It appears to be a normal human skeleton. Nuke66, I don’t understand what you mean by “chest piece.” Do you want to pull apart the skeleton and take part of its ribcage or sternum? Are you wanting to remove part of its chainmail shirt?
Xale moves about the room along the path, visually inspecting the walls, floor, and pews. His vantage point from the path gives him no additional information of interest.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Do you still want to do that, now that you've seen the condition it's in?
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Mason tears the chainmail shirt from the skeleton and hold it up. "Should I toss this on the alter?"
