Scythius fights off the sting from another attack from the beast menacing over them. He, again, strikes out with his long spear.

On Kindle and it's not letting me copy the link to my attack/damage rolls, but I'm fairly certain he missed (9 to-hit/4 damage)

Seeing Osric go down and realizing that the window of opportunity to turn the tide here is diminishing quickly, Viktor redoubles his efforts and stabs out at the devil-beast with his spear again. Desperation and adrenaline fuel his sudden courageous malice. "Go back to whatever hell ya came from, you bastard!"

To Hit: Spear [1d20] = 20, damage vs large creatures [1d8+1] = 3+1 = 4

When Osric falls, Cilian rushes to his aid, pouring a dose of the healing potion down his throat in hopes of keeping him alive.

dagger, offhand [1d20] = 12 [1d4+1] = 4+1 = 5

Healing dose to Osric [1d8+1] = 6+1 = 7

Hey, not bad. Apparently Cil knows how to administer healing pots. ;)

Johansen attacks

[1d20] = 19

damage: 2d4+1 = 4

Enraged seeing one childhood friend fall and another cut by the creatures wicked blade Vik stabs the creature in the ribs with his spear lodging it in it's side.

This causes the thing to writhe and expose it's back to the widly swinging Johansen who buries his axe head between the things shoulder blades.

The great centipede body stops moving and the creature slumps to the ground dead.

Cilian already at osrics side forces the potion down his throat. At first there is nothing, then you se wounds start to close an Osric begins to cough and sputter as his eyes open.

Viktor stabs the devil-spawned monstrosity a few more times with his spear, just to be absolutely sure that it's really dead and going to stay that way. "Should we cut this... thing's bloody head off? Just to be sure?" he queries aloud to no one in particular as he grabs up the creature's wicked-looking blade for a closer inspection.

Seeing that Cilian is attending to Osric, Vik will hand the creature's sword off to Johansen for his and the others' inspection and give the Death Monger centipede a once over for any possession or belongings. Or displacer beast hairs!

OOC: can Viktor tell if this was the same Death Monger centipede that he and Tub saw previously?

Sergius will also stab it some more after it falls, just to make sure it stays dead.

Sythius retreives a knife from his pack, eventually returning it with a disgruntled sigh after realizing it will most likely be ineffective in beheading the large, many-legged creature.

He brings his trusted spear to hand, remaining on high alert for further intrusions, while allowing the rest of the group to tend to Osric and search the fallen foe for anything useful.

Cillian continues to tend Osric, making sure he recovers properly from his grievous wound.

The sword is a wicked edged broad sword.

Looking the creature over this is not the one you saw earlier, this one is smaller and has less tattoos.

"As long as we have what we came for." Sythius states. "We do have the hairs, right?"

Cillian looks at Sergius and Sythius with a questioning glance.

"You mean now? In the middle of the night? In the rain? I don't think that's such a good idea... Besides, I don't know if Osric can make such a journey without at least a few hours of rest."

"Probably right," Sythius admits. "Very well," he starts. "I will stand first watch. The rest of you sleep."

Per this post, we were in the third of six sleep shifts when we were so rudely interrupted:
1. Sergius
2. Tub
3. Vik <-- attack
4. Scythius
5. Johansen
6. Cilian & Osric

How much sleep has Sythius had up to that point? If Sythius has rested well enough, he will simply finish the final three shifts (his, plus Johansen and Cilian & Osric). If not, how many more shifts will he need?

I think maybe, Tbd says as he yawns, curling up in his bed roll and falling asleep, we should put two people on watch.

The weather and fear prevent anyone form getting any real rest thorugh the remainder of the night. Just before daybreak the rain let's up and fog rolls in as the sun rises.

The beaten and weary group begin the journey out of the lonely wood to the travel's way road. The journey takes the entire day and you reach the area you left the cart with only a couple of hours of sunlight remaining.

Spell casters were unable to get enough rest to memorize new spells.
