TREASURE! what exactly are we talking about gentlemen? Perhaps someone can clue me in on the intricate details of your meritorious exploits.

"Thank you gentlemen for the room." Garth finishes his meal before turning to Shanny. "So, you are thinking we go back there to explore?"

Shannigans shrugs that nothing is going on below the tables, then turns to Garth.
Once again he speaks with speedy excitement. "Go back? Of course I'm in. As soon as I find me some more arrows. How many do we have? I only have 4 good ones left. I got 3 more from somewhere. They look kinda shoddy though. Treasure? Who said anything about treasure. The ranger is 'prolly right. If THEY are gone, any loot's been hauled out already. I think we should have kept the drum. When we last saw 'em was, ...., why, its been close to (?X?) hours. They 'prolly figured out who's in charge by now."
Shannigans giggles at his own revelation.
"... I was just thinking that we gotta do somethin' for the morale in this town. What's going on here anyway? Why is everyone acting weird?"

[1d20] = 6 WIS check <18
Garth continues the conversation.
"It seems to me that these folk are scared of something. Everyone is keeping to themselves, not wanting to be associated with anything that might get them in trouble. The big question is: Who or What are they afraid of."

Alordan collects Epislon's coins and rises from the table. He approaches Gustov "Gustov, payment for the rooms. Let's discuss the details, shall we?" and pulls him aside toward the bar in a friendly manner for all the room to see.

Hmmm perhaps they need a bit of inspiration.
Epsilon stands and adresses the room
Good people of O'hare please allow me to regale you with the tale of the great god Thoth and how in his infinite wisdom he was able to win a portion of light from the moon to allow Nut to give birth to Osiris, Horus the elder, Set, isis, and Nephthys.
He then goes on in embellesed detail and with as much flair as he can muster tellng the story.
When he is complete he says
Barkeep a pint of light beer for all of my new friends
let me know how much to deduct

Strom's face has darkened since the exchange between the innkeeper and the cook. He nods at Epsilon's offer to pay and replies I agree that it would be best if you accompany us, there is something wrong here.
At the talk of further exploration Strom says I concur we must wipe out the taint of evil in the caves, treasure or no treasure. We must also find the root of what is wrong here as well and cleanse it.

As the party members are enjoying complementary food and drinks for the evening, purchasing a pint of light beer for the remaining patrons would be 25 silver pieces (5*5 = 25sp).

that is 2 gold 5 silver correct. I have deducted 2 gold and 7 silver as he gives the barmaid a 2silver tip.
Please everyone enjoy your refreshment and if you have any spiritual delimas you wish to speak of or questions on the ways of thoth please feel free to talk.
As Epsilon sits down he winks at the rest of the group

Gwilt notices what
Shannigans has been doing with his food.
"Shanny, didn't anyone ever tell you it's impolite to play with your food? What exactly is it you're doing there, lad?" Shocked that anyone is concerned about any of his artistic creations,
Shannigans begins speaking a mile-a-minute.
"This is the goblin cave. I beg your forgiveness for such a crude map, but I wanted to show it in three-dimension.

Now with peoples attention, he continues:
"See this rise here, in the bread? The tunnel inside bends just like this, up and down and around. This here carrot is showing a T section that I was able to spot, but I didnt want to dilly-dally too long." Gwilt congratulates
Shannigans on a fine representation.
"Well, we will just have to explore that area a bit further, then. My only concern is that if the snarks buggered out of there, they took any treasure with them. Still... Who knows what we might find. Unfortunately," Gwilt lowers his voice so that just Shanny can hear,
"it sounds like we're about to get caught up in something here... I dare say you aren't clumsy enough to have dropped your utensils that far away. What did you find out snooping around under there?" Shannigans informs the ranger that his tactic didn't reveal anything.
Addressing the obvious subject to a wider audience,
Shannigans asks:
"What's going on here anyway? Why is everyone acting weird? The question seems to strike a chord as
Garth wonders aloud
"It seems to me that these folk are scared of something. Everyone is keeping to themselves, not wanting to be associated with anything that might get them in trouble. The big question is: Who or What are they afraid of." Upon hearing the word "trouble,"
Strom ties the two situations together:
"I concur we must wipe out the taint of evil in the caves, treasure or no treasure. We must also find the root of what is wrong here as well and cleanse it."
Epsilon performs an impressive oration in an attempt to inspire the down-trodden locals but finds his words fall on deaf ears. Even his purchase of a round of drinks for those remaining in the room returns little more than a raised glass in thanks.

Epislon (-3gp) and
Alordan (-2gp) split the nightly payment.
Alordan collects
Epislon's coins and rises from the table. He approaches Gustov:
"Gustov, payment for the rooms. Let's discuss the details, shall we?" and pulls him aside toward the bar in a friendly manner for all the room to see
(PM forthcoming). Gustov reminds the party their rooms are 7, 8 and 9; at the top of the stairs on the right, before being pulled aside by the ranger.

Thinking ahead to the nights stay,
Ewell offers:
"Folks, shall we draw lots as to who bunks with whom?

Strom rises from his seat I would prefer to room with Kaltar. He turns to face Kaltar directly I will take the first watch my friend.

I have no preferance on whom I bunk with, but would prefer the 1st watch as I will memorize a new prayer in the morn.

"Let's check out the rooms, first, and see what that brings us. I suggest we continue any further discussion when we can better secure our privacy."
Gwilt makes sure the party has keys to the three rooms then heads up to check them out. He suggests everyone gather in the middle room.
Are the rooms attached to each other by doorways? Or do they all open out into the main hallway only? Either way, I suggest we meet in the middle room to discuss anything further during the evening, to avoid eavesdroppers on the side walls. If they are attached, we can either have guards post in the middle area with sleeping areas in the two end rooms or we can make the middle one big communal sleeping area and post guards in the two outer rooms.
If they are not connected, then... not sure. Doesn't seem like an ideal situation. We don't want to split the party up into three groups, with three different rotations of watch duty. Maybe one big rotation, with the person(s) standing watch in the hallway?
Thoughts?

Gustov hands the keys to the rooms to Alordan during their private conversation.
Alethan wrote:Or do they all open out into the main hallway only?
This.
They are all individual rooms, sharing a wall, with doors opening into the main hallway.

Taking the carrot , Shannigans gets up and heads in the direction of the rooms. Going up the stairs, he begins thinking out loud.
"Garth and I should take the central room. You six can split 'em three apiece." Without going to the door to open, he finds 7, 8 and 9. He then pops his head over the rails and continues, with a mouthful,
"I'll ...tidy ...us a comf...ortable ....setting for ... study."
He then disappears over the rail again. Door number 8 fails to open. If not with key, then with (non-destructive) tool he tries to let himself in.
open 40% [1d100] = 100
"Hey!!! It's locked!!!" He says loud enough, in an attempt to let all hear.

Garth follows the group, laughing out loud as the halfling makes his remarks. Extending his left hand and giving a deep bow he adds: "After you my friend."

Once everyone is upstairs, Gwilt says, "OK, let's knock this out of the way. There are eight of us, so that's one hour shifts for each of us. Alordan, Ewell, Strom, and I will take the middle four hours, since we don't have any kind of spell preparation to worry about. The other four should take the first two and last two shifts."
10-11 Kaltar
11-12 Epsilon
12-1Alordan
1-2 Ewell
2-3 Strom
3-4 Gwilt
4-5 Garth
5-6 Shanny
Room 7 - Kaltar, Strom, Ewell
Room 8 - Garth, Shannigans
Room 9 - Epsilon, Alordan, Gwilt
Just a suggestion. Feel free to adjust or offer other suggestions as needed or desired.
For example, Strom might want more continuous sleep.

Alordan agrees with the plan. "Gustov had nothing to add about what's been going on when I talked to him, by the way...", he mutters tiredly.
