Eldura nods at Sir Gerolt's first statement.

"A deal where both parties gain from the agreement is an ideal one, Elomia be praised."

As to the second statement.

"Agreed, I think we need some fighters guarding the hides. I would suggest Algrim and myself to stay back. Algrim is the most adept crossbowman I have ever met, and myself, I am good at staying hidden", she smiles. "Perhaps Arngeir as well, to add some more melee skill."

Sir Gerolt of Selot

"I would suggest you accompany me, and whomever else, for your own advantage. It will give you a chance to see some of the nobility, especially the ladies. If you want to walk in that society, knowing how to do so will help you. It will also bring you to their attention, both male and female. That may open doors for you, if you pursue them." He grinned, and added. "It won't hurt my reputation, either."

While his tone was light, it is easy to see that Gerolt's real interest is giving Eldura a new life.

Eldura eyes Sir Gerolt, maybe to judge if he is being serious or not. Finally, she says:

"Fine, sure, I will go along. I am quite well versed in conversing with the gentry mind you. In these rags, everyone will think me a chambermaid though, at best. But, there's not much to be done about that here and now, I fear. Even if there's a seamstress or clothier around here, it will take days, or weeks, to have a dress ready. I will follow along and stay a bit back, okay?"

Sir Gerolt of Selot

"And with a simple loan, that problem is easily solved,"
Gerolt said. He dug into one of his saddle bags and pulled out a carefully rolled bundle of cloth. Handing it to Eldura, he said quietly. "Go into one of the unoccupied rooms and change. We are close to the same size, and your scarf should make a presentable sash. If we find anything better on the way, we can see to an upgrade."

Eldura looks at Sir Gerolt, then down on the cloth and then back at Gerolt again.

"Okay, I can do that, sure." She inspects the linen, holding it up against a light source, smelling it carefully. "This one is pretty fine actually. Hardly a hole in it" she smiles.

She excuses herself, and a couple of minutes later comes back, dressed for success.

"They're...quite okay. You will not have anyone fooled close up but from a distance or at horseback, sure. Just remember, I can't dance, so don't try me. I can, however, do this"

She produces her gold coin, hands it over to Sir Gerolt, putting it in his palm. "Now, close your hand. Open it. See?"

In his hand is a farthing.

Sir Gerolt

Gerolt smiled, and returned to his preperations.

I'm good to go on whatever's next.

Murgar

"Yes now would be best to check our portents. He heads off to arrange a proper bird with the tavern keeper. Once he has secured his bird he will head outside to find a suitable place to do the reading. Once settled in he will gut the live bird and pour it's entrails out in front of him to read their fates.

Reading roll: [1d100]=64

Not sure which one would be best for this so I'll let you guide me to the right check.

Good question. Not really sure but you have both Runecraft and Tarotry, would probably allow either. You have a 64 and 68 MLs so a marginal Success either way.

Murgar studies the entrails and sees a pattern, a trial of some sort awaits the group. To prove something to the baron perhaps. Blood will be split, perhaps death. It becomes harder to read at that point.

Murgar

Thanks, wasn't sure if one better fit what we're looking for.

As the entrails fall he begins to see the message held there. "Well we will face a trial, and there will be blood" We will needs find out whether this mornings meet is that trial or if it awaits us, and is some task we must perform for the Baron. The blood spilt is unclear, but could mean harm or death, and might not be our own. Today the gods are but willing to lest us have a glimpse they don't tell us of our success."

"I am going, though if others are less enthused, I understand," Gerolt said. "And I will be there early, best not keep important people waiting."

Late morning of the 3rd of Nolus. Summer. Weather is cloudy. The Young Baron

Everyone heads to the manor, where a guardsmen greets them. He looks everyone over. "The baron is expecting you, follow me please." He then leads the way into the manor proper.

Once inside he leads you into the great hall, where Baron Jebril Rythal sits at the head of a large table. "Welcome, your message indicated you wished to speak to me."

Sir Gerolt of Selot

"Yes, my lord. We bring a gift hard fought for, and a plan that may interest you," Gerolt said respectfully. Jebril was at the end of the long table, one that Gerolt had seen before. He carried the drake head, still covered. Gerolt smiled and stepped forward slowly as he spoke.

"Kaldor is larger than us, but they will soon be in a struggle for succession. Now is the time to prepare, in case whomever claims the throne seeks to impress their demands upon our people. My friends and I fought a creature that threatened the village we hope you will allow us to rebuild. Arngier Orlygsson and Murgar are Ivanians who fought with courage and honor. We fought alongside Algrim Tirion and Volin Grimshald, strong Khuzdul warriors." Gerolt began to lift the cloth covering the drake head, and then let it fall back, so that he could point to Eldura. "The lady with us ran forward into battle. Not away, as some ladies, and weaker men, might. The lady's name is Eldura 1, and I am honored to have fought beside her."

His hand went back to raising the cloth as he got closer to Jebril. He met the other man's gaze. "Strong allies should be given chances to grow strong with us, and share their strength with us. Some battles are best won with friends."

Gerolt set the drake head on the table, as close to Jebril as proper, and pulled back the covering. "I'm not sure what farmers would do against a drake, my lord baron, except die. There are other challenges facing Chysbia, and Rythal. Our gift to you is three fold; a head you can mount as a sign of your people's strength. Secondly, the elimination of a threat that would hinder rebuilding a village to strengthen Rythal."

He stepped back, and bowed appropriately. "Lastly, that which good rulers desire deeply; a trustworthy and capable band who can implement the growth that we so desperately need. I am Sir Gerolt of Selot; Knight of Larani, citizen of Chysbia, healer of minor distinction, and, with your support, rebuilder. What questions would you ask of us, and will you support the plan?"

1. He used the term lady near Eldura's name, without calling her "Lady Eldura", which would be a social rank thing. Still, those repeating the tale may not make the distinction. :)

Arnegir has coached Gerolt on rhetoric and intrigue, and Eldura has coached him on intrigue. Some things have been left unsaid, so that we can get Jebril's strong support before going into details. The presentation should hit a lot of Jebril's own desires

Eldura, makes a formal respectful greeting gesture at the mention of her name, probably a nod of the head, quick eye contact and a slight bow with the one leg in front of the others, knees slightly bent. She's not used to local courtly customs but well versed in those of the city of Aleath, which she hopes is similar enough.

Volin likewise bows his head slightly to the Baron, never taking his eyes off the man's face. For now, the human has not earned his respect other than in title.

Late morning of the 3rd of Nolus. Summer. Weather is cloudy. The Young Baron

Baron Rythal rises and examines the Drake's head. "Amazing, he was near what village? We must have this preserved as soon as possible."

He then shifts his attention from the Drake's head to the party, studying each of you in turn. "An interesting assortment of individuals you have with you Sir Gerolt. I would like to hear more of your hunt, perhaps one of your companions has an interesting version of the tale."

Arngeir

Arngeir takes a step forward and bows to the baron

"Baron Rythal, I honoured to tell tale. My skill in your tongue is limited. May I use invocation to improve it, to do story justice?"

As Arngeir has the best oratory here, I think he needs to step in and tell the tale, and use Tongues otherwise his oratory skill will be impacted.
