LOL, I could never figure out why Hold Animal is a 3rd level Druid spell when the more powerful Hold Person is a second level Cleric spell.

Probably because the druid gets Animal Friendship and Speak With Animals at 1st Level. To a druid, Hold Animal means putting your arm around it and telling it "everything is gonna be alright."

Not sure I agree with that. To me the D&D Druid is about balance (and nothing like any sort of historical Druid/Shaman of history). Balanced is maintained by death as much or more than by life. Rabbits don't over run the world because they are eaten. Humans are the apex predator and thus their place in maintaining balance is through killing as much or more than nurturing. A hungry Druid is just as likely to use Hold Animal as a hunting technique as combat. They are not wasteful, and will use all the animal and only kill what they need, but kill they will.

I feel like I’m getting my head stomped in another game, so let’s do something fun in this one to counter that.

We have a bit of a milestone coming up here on BSI, so let’s try something unprecedented.

I would like everyone to calculate how many XP each of their characters needs before they advance to the next level(s).
