Shall we turn-turn-turn the obelisk? Pick a direction, any direction?

"Hold up Rooney! They are going to turn the obelisk and lock us in here, we better get back quick."
She waits for Rooney and heads back with him, but she doesn't allow him to get locked in alone.

Skips back from his scouting.
"Sure, secret door first. Might be some treasure left unplundered."

"What are the odds that in all of that thing's positions, nothing bad happens in any of them?" muses Burkus. He ponders waiting outside the room while others fiddle with the obelisk, then realizes that the result would probably be getting split from the party. So he waits with the others and hopes he's wrong.

Re: Chapter I: Volokarnos
After everyone takes position, a few of you once again set to work turning the obelisk another 90°. Rooney and Nym watch as the door they were on the wrong side of just a moment ago closes in sync with the rotation. At the moment the KEY arrives in the southern position, you notice two things: The eastern door locks with a firm click and a door-sized portion of the southern wall slides open.
In the secret niche, barely enough for 2 people to stand shoulder to shoulder, the face of a bearded deity leers down from the opposite wall. Underneath, a large brazier stands, laden with an eclectic pile of shining coins.
The new obelisk position:
......EYE
ARM..X..DAGGER
......KEY

Basalt
Anybody recognize this guy?
IF NOT, Basalt will examine the brazier for obvious booby-traps, then collect the coins from it.

Nym will examine the hidden alcove, everything except the coins for now.

The room looks pretty full - So I will pick up my bow and go and talk to Adras and pet Ingwe.

"The Green Man? Silvanus, Moradin maybe Bacchus?" he lists a few shrines he may have liberated of unwanted offerings.
I suppose we could take the coins, shut the secret door, open it again and check if the God has manifested some more.

Might as well conclude each turn of the Obelisk' and know what it does it case we need to fall back here.
He continues his watch out for orcs.

Weezel
The dwarf's eyes light up at the sight of the coins and he joins Basalt and Nym at the newly opened door. He gives a glance to the portrait hanging in the alcove, but he is far more interested in the loot lying underneath. He stands back as Basalt examines the brazier and then offers a open sack to help collect the coins.

Re: Chapter I: Volokarnos
Burkus backs away from the alcove when he sees the bowl full of coins, seemingly there for the taking. When he sees Basalt collecting coins, he looks for a safe place to take cover.
“You don’t think a bowl full of coins just there for the taking is maybe an obvious trap?” he asks.

Re: Chapter I: Volokarnos
No traps are obvious in or around the brazier.
A mostly square space with flat, unadorned walls (other than the carved face opposite the entrance). It was probably painted once but it has long since chipped and faded. Dust covers the floor, but not much due to the almost air-tight seal of the door.
Mr Basalt collects the coins without any noticeable effect, counting 900 sp and 30 gp, mostly in old Kassadian currency. Weezel helpfully provides a sack to place them, tho given that the coins total 93 lb it takes up one of his large sacks and half of the other.then Basalt collect the coins from it.
That is a total of 600 XP, 67 XP each. The first of the campaign, congratulations!

"So guys, where to now? Open that east door again and explore. You want to go ahead Rooney and Nym or someone else?"
We can rotate scouting sessions so that shares the risks out.

Rooney
"If we are ready, fall in and let's go."
He will be fine repeating his last foray down the east passage and checking out the first door on the right.

Basalt
Basalt contributes a sack, so the weight can be divided better. Anybody got a problem with waiting until we finish this trip to divide up the loot?
I'm sure Lance has a handle on it, but I'm going to try and keep a running total of treasure in the notes on Basalt's character sheet.

May I remind you that Adras here is employed as a carrier.

Weezel
Weezel turns to Adras and starts to hand over his sacks full of coins. He gives the porter a hard eye-to-eye stare, and pauses, before finally handing him the heavy burden.
"Don't lose those."
He then walks to the obelisk and waits for Rooney and the others. When they are ready, he turn the obelisk counterclockwise so that the key faces east.

Re: Chapter I: Volokarnos
Eronin makes a note of the coins in his ledger along with the solution to opening the doors. "I can carry some if the load is too heavy for Adras to bear all of it."
