That is your roleplay in-character decisions to make.

I’m sure the Bogtown festival will be just as fun. Probably.

If only it was that simple... a day or two in the stocks would have taken care of that type of issue...Leitz wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 8:28 pmMost of us walk through town with our clothes on...just sayiin'...GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 8:07 pm Right but it is uncertain due to certain events if the group can even enter Helix again.

Unless we get trapped two days, I would expect the 'spider silk six' to be at the festival. If we survive the expedition that is.

This is one of the downsides of not reading all the threads. I have no idea WTF.Right but it is uncertain due to certain events if the group can even enter Helix again.

If it IS a patrol that would imply that there are more Lizard Men somewhat nearby. Also, failure of them to return may lead to more being sent out. Which could be good if we defeated them piecemeal before taking on the whole encampment, bad if they show up at an inconvenient time. Of course, Isvand is assuming that they are evil/hostile.

I don’t know how much you’ve dug into the general workings of the Barrowmoor, but I would bet this group is a patrol from the Moorwash River and likely have nothing to do with the burial mounds we are headed to. These lizardmen probably occupy the river banks west of the Old Dwarf Bridge, more concerned with sacking caravans and travelers along the roads.redwarrior wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 6:26 pm -Barrow Mounds commentary

I will stick to my opinion that we don’t need to fight them, but if Leitz is of the same mind as you, we can readdress the situation.

I've actually made a point of not reading too much of the story thus far, In keeping with having just hit town and knowing nothing, at least until Isvand has been in town & with the group a few days.

Ogre Mage was quoting the general information found in the Campaign setting topic which gives a background on some of the regions key locations.I've actually made a point of not reading too much of the story thus far, In keeping with having just hit town and knowing nothing, at least until Isvand has been in town & with the group a few days.
Certainly areas of the Moor south of the Moorwash are regarded as wilderness settings. The north banks and area have been contested and are a 'no man's land', though the 'rangers in danger' expedition are about to enter an old ruined stronghold that lies on the north bank.
You might also conclude that any wandering undead encountered in the Barrow Mounds area would also threaten any humanoid groups in the vicinity too. So it would be reasonable to think it unlikely that permanent tribal settlements exist within a one hex radius of the Mounds.

Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
I don't think it is wise for us to confront this group at all. Going on random killing sprees isn't what we set out to do. I think it will be an unnecessary drain on our current health and resources.
Everything I have seen from the DM so far, here and in private, hints towards interfering with them being a dangerous and foolhardy objective.
However, I am not interested in arguing about it for several more days either. When I see comments like "we should do this or just go home", that leads me to believe some characters aren't going to change their perspective.
So if we must do this despite the majority of the group being against the idea, lets just get on with it and see what happens.

If you feel strongly that this is unwise, I will accept that choice. I have not been in this game for long, and I have not studied a lot of the matierial. Steban is a soldier, and limited in his few.
Decide, comment here, and I will support you.

Posting our actions in the game thread and then discussing them afterword here seems counterproductive.

Well, as long as we're going for it, I'll note that it is a well thought out choice. Sounds like I didn't communicate that IC.
1. We avoided the tree with the bodies. My guess is that the 'tree' itself was the monster. However, since it seemed immobile Steban recommended just going around it. The lizard men are mobile.
2. Steban glanced at Gerdal before pushing back with Sven. Steban isn't willing to put her at risk, knowing what the lizard men, or any men, would do to a female captive. If the group were weakened when the lizard men found them, it would be painful and final for the guys. It would be worse for Gerdal.
3. Steban is in chain, carrying a large shield, and wearing high hard boots. This isn't a family of migrating lizard men but a scouting party. If they can't track and outpace Steban, they are pathetic.
4. From a soldier's perspective, leaving an enemy force to your unguarded rear is suicide. Literally. You'll wind up fighting on two fronts, and the lizard men don't seem to be a weak force. Hence the comment about going home; if you're going to kill yourself, do it without Steban.
5. No one has offered a way to parlay or befriend the lizard men. The scalps suggest they are willing to kill, and have done so. Absent another way to neutralize the threat, what?

I cant say I disagree with any of that logic.
I also cant say that I have never been wrong about an in-game decision before.
Especially in one of Spearmints games.
Like I said, we don't need to debate out of character for several days about a decision that can be viewed from multiple avenues. All that does is slow the game down.
Lets see what happens and learn form the outcome. Hopefully they are on their way back to their tribe with bags filled with treasure.

Re: OOC: out of character comments and questions).
I am roleplaying Gerdal as waiting for the others to decide, for several reasons, so she will not object strongly to any decision. Speaking out of context, it's a close call. I can kind of enjoy as well how our (mis)communication sometimes not lead to the best strategic decision in-game, mimicing the sort of stress and panic that our characters must feel.
Let's do this fight now

Let's just say if you see or hear about one of the watch coming back injured with a crossbow bolt protruding from him.....it may have been my groups fault for interpreting a scene incorrectly. We didn't know it was the watch or town guard we were fighting at the time lets just go that far...
