Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
Darn. I misremembered my fighter/cleric kits. I thought the champion was the priest battlerager, which I think would be amazing to have in the group. It's actually the Vindicator. My character might disagree, but eh, I'm the one who counts. I have no opinion on the matter.
Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
For my guy, I'm thinking of taking the Wizard of the Dalelands - The High Dale kit. Since it's the 1350's, I figure he fled the dale a few steps ahead of the Zhents who took it over and has been working his way west, trying to amass personal power and friends enough to come back and take it back. Which would explain why he's second level. He's also wanted to experiment with wild magic, but didn't want to do that anywhere near his friends or family (or where the Zhents might see and take notice).
Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
The Vindicator eh? I'll have to go check it out.

No hurry mith > we don't even have a forum yet.mithrandir138 wrote:I am brainstorming and doing other things this evening, so I hope to have my character or concept posted tomorrow by noon eastern or something. Is that OK?

And remember fellers - you don't HAVE to play with the kits - you can play a plain ol' fighter, cleric, paladin, rogue, mage, etc...
Also, don't think paladins can multi-class or dual-class. Might be mistaken on that - anybody got the skinny on that rule?

Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
Paladins cannot multi-class if memory serves.

Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
Agreed. Paladins and bards can't multiclass. But I think he was talking about being a dwarf fighter/cleric and playing it sort of like a paladin.

Yeah, that's cool.Hoondatha wrote:Agreed. Paladins and bards can't multiclass. But I think he was talking about being a dwarf fighter/cleric and playing it sort of like a paladin.
BTW, I like the possibilities with your character concept, Hoon. Running from the Zhents...hmmmm...

Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
Technically dwarves cannot be Paladins either. Is that a hardfast rule Hedge?
Edit: If he cannot be a Paladin, how about a Dwarven Champion? I have perfect rolls for a Champion, or Battlerager.
Edit:: Scratch Battlerager, my rolls were too good.

If Hedge gives the okay I'll roll with a Dwarven Paladin. I mean how often can that happen? You need to roll a natural 18 just to meet the charisma requirement!

Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
Play the Champion and play him like a paladin...which is essentially what he is...well...almost.
Also, until we get an official game forum, here are a couple of maps to show you the part of the Realms where your character can be from and might be familiar with. Hoon, even your Dalelands mage is likely familiar with some of the North.

Let me know if the links don't work.
Edit: Ray, just saw your post before I submitted this. I'm cool with a Dwarven Paladin - does anyone else have an issue with it?

Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
I sorta do. I've never liked paladins or bards from non-human (or non-half-elf in the bard's case) races. Dwarves have different traditions, and different deities, and there's never been a dwarven paladin in the sources. Especially in 2e. But you're the DM, so it's your call.
Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
Hey it's no problem, I'll just make him a Champion then. I can play the character the same regardless.Hoondatha wrote:I sorta do. Edit: though now that I can move that 18 out of charisma and into strength the Berserker is looking mighty tempting.

Fair enough - appreciate that, Hoon.
And thanks, Ray, for going the Champion route.
See? We're already coming together as a group - learning to give and take. I love it!

Champion it is then, and what a Champion he'll be! I'll get his character sheet up online tonight but now I have to go watch my Redskins (hopefully) earn a playoff spot!

Hey DM, have you had a chance to review the wild mage? Can I go with it?

Here is what I posted in answer to you on page 5 - must've missed it:Hoondatha wrote:Hey DM, have you had a chance to review the wild mage? Can I go with it?
"Edit: Having read through the description, I am not 100% on this character option. I can see where it could be a lot of fun or more trouble than it's worth. Actually, some of the possible random events are pretty cool - like what you might find in a wand of wonder. Still it is a pain in the ass for the DM and for the player to remember all of the variables, and it could be potentially deadly for other members in your group.
So, not gonna approve a wild mage in this game. Sorry."
I like the Dalelands kit option though, and the brief background you gave. I think he will make or a cool mage and give a different perspective to the Western Heartlands characters.

Re: Checking Interest: 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures
No, I didn't see that. Not surprising, since it was edited into an older post, and I keep checking the bottom for new ones. Darn. I was looking forward to that. Ok, back to the drawing board.
