:)

Karcsi
Oh, and yes, someone should go check on Karcsi. He'll surely wake up before the 9 hours is over. :)
Zaki is still monitoring him regularly - he is her patient until he's cleared for duty.
Karcsi wakes up feeling fully rested and feeling fine before the crew has their Common's Meeting.

Zaki and Karcsi, now sans vacc suit, walk into the Commons joining Doug, Donovan, Sigrun, and Flighty just as Flighty begins telling what happened during the recent "spirit journey" from his perspective...

GM: The entire crew is in the Commons. You can monitor anything needed from here and everything is running smoothly, so you don't expect to be called upon to do anything related to the ship for a few hours.

"I saw something real. Not just a dream, not just the drug—it was more than that.

When I closed my eyes, I felt myself drifting through colors and light, like I was a leaf in the wind. There was nothing solid, no ground under my feet. I felt peaceful, but lost. Then I heard something—a deep hum, like a song that had been playing forever. I followed it.

I found a chain made of light and sound. When I grabbed it, I started moving—fast—and with me came something else. A shard of light. It was like a small piece of something bigger. It used me to find its way home. And I saw things... memories of my life, like I was watching from the outside.

I thought I was in control, but I wasn’t. I was just part of the journey.

The shard led me to a place—bright, full of singing, not with voices, but with meaning. It felt like home, but not mine. The shard’s home. Something... sacred. I saw my sled, my dogs, my people in the snow. And I understood it wasn’t just a dream. It was the idea of home, the feeling of being where you truly belong.

When the shard returned to its place, everything stopped. It was like time and space went still. And then something spoke to me—not in words, but I understood.

It said I’m just a small spark. Not the sled, not the chain, not the rider. But I can still carry warmth. I can still keep the fire going for others. That’s what I brought back."

Karcsi pauses, placing a hand on his temple.

"Psionics isn’t just power. It’s a path. Maybe it’s where we’re meant to go—all of us, someday. I don’t understand it yet, but I know now that I want to. And I think I was meant to see it, so I could help others find their way too.

"I went on a vision quest using hallucinogens, and it worked—I connected to the psionic field in a raw, spiritual way. I helped return a lost shard of psionic essence to what his people might call the spirit-home, or 'Luomisen Henget.' They told mi I'm not powerful yet—just a spark—but acknowledged me and gave me a small boon. I've come back with a new respect for psionics, not as a tool, but as a calling or sacred path.""

"Doug, do we have any maintenance purchases that need to be made? Let me know and I might be able to get a bargain for us."

<spirit journey snip>

Donovan brought up the holographic display showing the system of Wochiers. "It is a environmental and governmental hell world. A nasty dictatorship and an equally nasty environment."
We'll probably have to come back to some of this shortly, but I want to get it on record for you now:

1. Arrangements for transferring the freight will be easy here on Regina Up. It won't even reduce your payout for delivering it due to the current maintenance being down on Regina Down.

2. You have internal storage for 2 J1's. Fuel Bladders are available for 50,000 credits each and you will need, at least, 2 to get you to Wochiers through empty space. You might want a 3rd so you'll have fuel to make a "quick get-away" if that's required.

3. Each Fuel Bladder will occupy 25 tons filled and 5 tons empty. You have 82 tons of space in your Cargo Hold, if you run empty, so you could get 3 filled bladders in there and have room for 7 tons of something else.

4. Your Fuel Purifier can deal with turning water into pure protium so that isn't a problem, but you'll need to buy the unrefined fuel (water) here, no wilderness refueling.

5. Although, you don't need to do repairs right this minute, there are 3 issues that Doug could point out: A flaky "Jump Fuel Injector" that could cause a misshaped Jump Bubble and a pair of Grav Modules that are working, but at well under nominal. All three could be purchased now and installed in flight. Refurbished or used would be cheaper, but you'd have to go to a "boneyard" to pull them.

6. Yes, Wochiers is Amber, probably bordering on Red in truth, and just as nasty as Donovan says. However, Flighty's vision was for Gas Giant 3 (60au) while Wochiers Prime orbits Gas Giant 1(8au), so you don't even have to go within several billion miles of the main world if you don't want to. It should be extraordinarily empty around Gas Giant 3. There's a good chance that area has never been explored, just cataloged as being far out in the deep black at the edge of the Wochiers system.

7. While I'm thinking about it, you might want to skip Algine, too! An interdicted Red World where you have to report to the Imperial Navy and refuel at the gas giant under their supervision might not appeal to your group. :)

We have one bladder already, don’t we? Or were we only talking about getting one?

Thinking about getting one, but haven't gotten it yet. The ship has actual tankage for 2 J1's built in. If you upgrade computer, power plant and J Drive you could have a Jump 2 ship...easy-peasy! :)

Doug gives a report on the ship systems and conditions. Overall we are doing pretty good. Normal maintenance to do, but there are two more import items. We have a flaky Jump Fuel Injector and a pair of Grav Modules acting up. The first could cause a misshaped warp bubble and the second are under nominal. Neither have to be done right now but we have two choices buy the new parts or find refurbished or used parts at a boneyard. They can all be installed in flight. The quickest would be to purchase them now new but cheaper to hit a boneyard but would take a little longer. Doug pauses and then says There is something else I want to bring up. We burned a ship ID coming in here under a new name. Once we leave we are going to assume another I imagine. We may continue to use that one or not depending on what happens next. Right now we only have so many of those prepared and will need to watch how we use them.

How many ship ID's do we have? I am assuming I have made badges for each and we have uniforms for each. Can we make more ship IDs or was that a special job done at a base somewhere?

"I'd need to know what costs for each you'd expect to make a call on that," Flighty said. "We have a total of 4 IDs. I'm not sure this one is burned, but Dealer's Choice might be. If we can find the right people, we could get the transponder reprogrammed for new false identities. We have the following identities.

Skidbladnir flagged out of Sacnoth/Sword Worlds;
Gremlin's Castle flagged out of Arden/Federation of Arden;
Dealer's Choice flagged out of Lunion/Third Imperium;
The New Chance flagged out of Glisten/Third Imperium."

Doug shrugs, Costs are not my department, that would be fleet logistics. Well, this one is listed as coming out of Jenghe to Regina. After all the brouhaha as we left there someone will figure out eventually that what left there under one name didn't show up here and what showed up here under another name didn't leave there. All they need to do is check the logs of incoming and outgoing for 200 ton ships in the right time-frame. I figure we have a few days minimum since our jump here only took 3 days. There will be other ships jumping here right after we did and at least one of them will have a report on what happened as we left and the Navy here will start looking. We don't have long in my estimation.

“I disagree. The three day jump will cover us. That just doesn’t happen. Other ships that are more likely to be the ones mistaken for us will arrive closer to time. Besides, they won’t be interested in us. We only ran. Still, we do want to get gone before the bad guys get here.”

Ref Question/Assumption:
OOC: I take it you're also planning to disappear for a month and then reappear 4 parsecs away from Regina....far out in space around a gas giant? Then probably make another long series of jumps through deep space putting distance between you and whoever is after you. At that point, it would be a long time before names of the ship really mattered...probably. Have I got that correct?

"I've already changed ship names, so that is covered. We should be off their screens, I think, but we'll still want to move along quickly. Donovan, why don't you make inquires for parts? We also lost some sensors in the blast, didn't we? Let's check on those as well. We'll want three jumps worth of fuel bladders and no outgoing cargo--or not much--and no passengers. We disappear now."
