"I should be ok Kravoud - looking at the size of these beasts, it could have been much worse" - Tellurion nodded with a smile.

Don't remember exactly how Lay on Hands works in 2e - is it you can heal 2hp/level? Tellurion is at 17/22hp, so that should be ok for now I think. Or you can just 'blip' me for 2hp? :)
Yes, btb it's 2hp/level each day. You can dispense it in 2 hp increments. So a lvl 4 paladin could give 2 hp to one person, 4 to another and save the last 2hp for later.

The group sets to killing most and saving the "best one" for interrogating. Tying up goes well having some familiar with rope use. It takes a good rope or two to ensure the ogre won't be breaking free. Eventually the ogre comes too seeing his friends dead he looks panicked. Head whipping around looking around it is then he realizes he is gaged and cannot move. A muffled "Mphhhs Rnnnhhh grmmmmph." sound comes from him.

Tellurion

"Are there any more guards ahead? How many and where?"

Tellurion kept the dagger to the ogre throat - "I will remove the gag - speak the truth and don't scream, and you will live. Do you understand?"

Reywald stays some ways away from the interrogation, keeping an eye on any other entrances/ exits to the room.

What is the layout of the current room and it's exits? Do we have a map?

Ogre Cavern Map you are at the red X you came in from the pit though the passage is a lot longer than the map shows from the cave to the pit
Ogre Cave you are here.png
Ogre Cave you are here.png (148.02 KiB) Viewed 872 times
In northwest of the cavern is a passage leading to an alcove, sits a bound captive, a live lizard man. Just outside that alcove is the small fire the orge's previously were gathered around, over which hangs a boiling kettle. A drawing of pictures on the cavern wall (just west of the north corridor) with a piece of charcoal is something one of the ogre's was drawing, another passage in the east leads to another alcove. A large pool of clear water in the western pan of the cavern is used by the residents but poorly cared for, now becoming polluted. A passage to the southwest leads to an unknown location.

Ogre Captive "Two more of me kin. But there be other things down here like them frogs and more them lizard men." the captive answers craning his head in the direction of one of the alcoves and then another. One of which is the alcove the tied up lizard man is in the other towards the passage to the southwest when referring to the frogs.

Del will walk into the alcove with the bound lizard man.

She will ask in common - "Nod 'yes' if you can understand me."

If it answer yes, she will follow-up with "Do you know about the light coming from this area?"

Trist and Jivet

Trist sends Jivet about invisible to scout the area out but at the first sign of any concern Jivet will come back to Trist, "Jivet my dear can you help us get a better idea of the layout down here and what might be lurking about?

Jivet comments, "Oh sure, I can do that, but I'd like a nice treat for my efforts when we get time for a snack."

Jivet flies off and goes invisible looking around and landing on ledges or places to roost safely.

Lizard man only capable of speaking it's own language doesn't understand and see the freedom as an opportunity to try and run. It tries to bull rush and knock over Del as it tries to run out the nearest tunnel.

Ogre bound shakes his head at the word home "No, dis not home. We trapped, too many enemies we not find way out tunnel you come from. We just survive."

Jivet scouts around and reports back with a description of the map

#23 - This area, southeast of the main cavern, is littered with bones and filthy animal skins. Jivet spotted 3 giant frogs within this cavern.
South passage - passage to the pit same way the party entered
North passage - direction the lizard man is trying to flee
Cave marked with L - where captive Lizard Man was found
Eastern cave - room with dead Lizard Man

Trist and Jivet

Jivet comes back with the information, "Whew that was a bit of a chore there. I hope good snacks for later please."

Trist nods and replies, "You can hunt your snacks safely or if we find a some good snacks you can pick a few for sure."

Trist looks to the group, "I can cast from my spell book a way to comprehend languages, I won't be able to speak it though. IF someone want to capture it to tray and talk to it. Maybe the ogre can speak to the lizard men."

Trist wouldn't want to lose the spell casting it from the book if that removes it.

DM Amendment apparently my tired eyes/brain read that wrong Del didn't cut loose the lizard man so he is not actually fleeing he is just currently scared and wanting to flee but unable to and now is being spoken to by a dark elf in a language he does not understand.

Grappling Egon trips the attempting to flee lizardman and is able to pin him down since he is still partially bound. Since gurusql was content with the DM slip up we're rolling with it, partially. The lizardman hisses and says somethings or so you think.

Ogre captive cranes his head trying to see what is going on hearing the scuffle. "We trapped here by dem an big frogs. Me home was out in swamp, had ogre town away from lizards big town." he tries to answer. "Other enemy above but we not try go above first floor dem frogs ate one dem lizards. Outside you defeat all enemies?" he hazards to ask.

"No, not all" - Tellurion replied - "We approached as carefully as we could, without much fighting"

Gang, I am ready to let this ogre go, or have him join us if he is so inclined.
Of course he may just end up attacking us, that is a risk.

Egon

If your character is willing to vouch for him then Egon would be willing to allow him to join the group, but he can't be on a watch, etc. Need to be smart and take precautions until he proves himself.

Kravoud

I agree with Egon. I think we treat him with extreme caution if we let him stay with us.

Does our big friend have any idea on what they were planning on doing with the slippery little bastard that tried to run away? If you had one of em why were still stuck here? Is the lizards big town here or someplace else?
