(Corvin/Jalko) Treasure List

#1 Post by archolewa »

A thread for the team of Corvin, Mordred and Kasper to keep track of the treasure they've accumulated, as well as whether or not I've already rewarded the XP for it.

Hrek's magical sword [Mordred]

Vane's magical bracers [Corvin]

4 healing vials, only 1 left

Six small sacks containing about 315 copper pieces, and 87 silver pieces.
A potion bottle that looks empty, except you can feel some kind of liquid sloshing around in it when you pick it up.
8 small sacks containing 46 silver and 245 copper pieces.

a dozen fine, floral perfumes. Only 6 now as Geraint took half.

Priestess robes, protective runes

Bronze bedside lamp with continual light

a bracelet embedded with moonstones, likely worth at least fifteen gold, and a ring of keys.

The sack contains 6 gold pieces and 44 copper pieces (10 copper pieces in one silver piece).
The purse contains 6 silver pieces, and 6 copper pieces.
There is also a ceramic flask corked and sealed in wax.

Here is the stuff I had compiled in this post - viewtopic.php?p=716482#p716482

Items Found:
Jeweled bronze lamp (worth several gold)
Scented lamp oil (gallon jug)
Bracers with Dwarvish runes (Bracers of Armor +1 § Corvin has them, correct?)
Empty scabbard for a bastard sword (probably for Hrek's)
Boar spear, round shield, half-helm, and fur-lined cloak
Keys (possibly for the reinforced door or other locked areas)

Four healing potions in a small locked box (potions made from Thornwall flowers, extremely labor-intensive to create)
I think we already drank all of them?

In Hrek's Room:
Rack with Hrek's clothing and weapons (do we want the leather armor?)
Empty scabbard for a bastard sword
Small chest with a half-burned candle in a silver candlestick
Boar spear, round shield, half-helm, fur-lined cloak

Vault Findings:
First Chest: 315 copper pieces, 87 silver pieces, and a potion bottle (appears empty but sloshes with liquid)
Second Chest: 46 silver pieces, 245 copper pieces
Third Chest: Empty

Other Notes:
Basement - now investigated
Helda (possibly missing or escaped)

Need to tally my XP
Still need to do this lol

Here is the list of loot we took with us when we left the tower.
shaidar wrote: Wed Sep 11, 2024 5:15 pm Corvin

Corvin will ensure that the tower windows are shut and secured where possible and any fires are under control before we lock the basement and front door.

I think it's best we bring the prisoners rather than leaving them in the tower.

I suggest we take the following treasure:

Bracers & sword (obviously)
Moonstone bracelet
Healing potion
Potion which is invisible
Sealed ceramic jar
Keys from the priestess room
6 bottles of perfume.
Sack: 6 gp, 44 cp
Purse: 6 sp, and 6 cp
Six small sacks containing about 315 copper pieces, and 87 silver pieces.
8 small sacks containing 46 silver and 245 copper pieces.

To save having to carry all those copper pieces (566?), why don't we offer it to the family we met as part payment to push the cart and partly as recompense for what happened to the families around here. Spending copper would bring less attention to them.
The copper pieces were given to the local family.

Money totals:
6gp
139sp

I guess we can discuss loot management here?

ItemOwnerNeed Magical ID?Notes
BracersCorvinYesFound in the tower. +1 to-hit for Unarmed attacks. -1 penalty on enemy saving throws against being knocked out.
Invisible PotionPartyYesUnknown effects
Sealed Ceramic JarPartyYes?Contents unknown
Sword (from Hrek)MordredNo+1, correct?
Moonstone BraceletPartyNoNon-magical
Healing PotionPartyNoIdentified
Keys from Priestess RoomCorvinNoLikely mundane
6 Bottles of PerfumePartyNoNon-magical
6 gold piecesPartyNoTreasury
139 Silver PiecesPartyNoTreasury

Did I forget anything?
It seems we need to identify the Invisible Potion and the Sealed Ceramic Jar?
Do we need/want to identify the bracers?
And to sell, we have the perfume and that's it. Yes?

Otherwise for shopping, I am guessing we can replenish rations and waterskins and such?
We do not have money for horses, do we? I will check the price.

The bracelet is party loot, Corvin was just looking after it. So there is that and the perfume to sell.

I know what the bracers do, +1 to-hit for Unarmed attacks. We might want to consider getting them and the sword properly identified in case they have other powers ;) although I wouldn't want to go off adventuring without them, so maybe not.

We don't know the contents of the jar are magical we could open it and see what's in there, but it does make sense to have it looked at with the other stuff.

Ok, I have updated the table.

Since we are pressed for time (and cash :P), maybe leave the bracers and the sword for further identification later. Which means:

ID the potion.
ID the ceramic jar.
Sell the Bracelet and the perfume.

Sounds good?

I don't have Detect Magic, only Read Magic, so I cannot tell if the ceramic jar is magical.
Hesitating in opening it, in case something bad comes out

Thanks, I thought there was something else about them. I was going to take a look back later, but no need to now.

For the Adventure 2 interlude at Thorncity, since you guys need to pool money to pay for the things you want to pay for, I'm going to track expenses here, and we can divvy costs up appropriately once everything is bought and accounted for.

Plate Mail for Astrid: -5 gold, 5 silver.
Trading in Astrid's Banded Mail: + 2gold, 5 silver

Corvin's training: -25 gold

Maybe I post here so we can have it noted down:

Mordred had 12 gold;
- The trade for Astrid's Plate -3 = 9 gold left
+ Kasper and Sebastian both have 8 gold between them = 17 gold left
+ The 10 from the bank = 27 gold in total?

But that means we end up with 2 gold left between ALL of us if we spend 25 gold. I don't think we should do this :D

So I think I will go with the 10 gold option
1 from Kasper + 1 from Sebastian + 1 from Corvin + 7 from Mordred = 10gp and a 65% chance to learn the spell using the Lab in the basement.
Mordred keeps 2 gold for 'expenses'

Think we should update this.

Mordred ended up going with the '10gp option' with the added kind bonuses provided by Master Jordan. So:

Mordred has 2gp left (character sheet updated: viewtopic.php?p=705452#p705452)
Kasper and Sebastian both have 6 gold between them.
Corvin contributed with 1gp (not sure how much you have left :D)

As noted above Corvin contributed 1gp to Mordred. He borrowed 25gp from Kasper/Sebastian (which he will repay).

He has 6gp, 10sp, and 10gp in the bank.

If I can keep the 2 gp Mordred had, my grand total is 20gp and 4sp.
Alas, not enough to train.
Since I lack the resilience to evaluate the best options, I will go with what makes sense. Jalko will either train his short sword or shield or sling, when the time comes.

I am thinking the shield might be more versatile, allowing me an off-hand attack if needed.

If we are close to having enough to train all then I don't mind having Corvin lend out some of his 10gp in the bank, others have done the same for him.

He also has 4gp and 14sp in his pouch, but we are going to need cash for food etc, but we could dip into a big of that if really needed.

Jalko started with only two Weapon Feats. I assumed he took them in short sword and sling. So are you proposing getting Basic Proficiency in shield? Note that the earliest you can start attacking with a shield is Skilled (i.e. two Weapon Feats) with a Tower Shield (which Jalko can't use). Bucklers and Normal Shields don't allow you to attack with them until you become an Expert (i.e. three Weapon Feats spent on shield).

Assuming your basic proficiencies are in Short Sword and Sling, it really boils down to: Do you want Jalko to mess it up in melee, or primarily fight at range? If Jalko is going to primarily stay at range and use his sling while Corvin/Astrid/Kasper mess it up in melee, then go sling. If you want Jalko to be on the front lines, then go sword.

Either will work well. The Skilled Sling's stun effect is nice, while Jalko's high death saving throw means enemies will have a hard time getting past a Skilled Short Sword's Deflect ability.

Yep you’re right, I did not spend a proficiency in shields.

Hmmmm, I will probably split my feats between the three things nonetheless. Would like to be good with a sword, shield and sling :)

Don’t have gold yet though, so it is a moot point for now, but thanks for the breakdown.

P.S. no penalties (hitting allies or cover) for shooting the sling into melee at close range (only), right?

The henchmen will be happy to contribute, just like they did with Corvin. Both Kasper and Sebastian have a little over 20 gold each (after Corvin pays Kasper 10 gold). Nobody can afford training at the moment, and getting someone trained is going to improve everyone's survival significantly. And Jalko makes sense because unlike Kasper and Sebastian, he doesn't have spells.

That is correct. You in fact get a +1 bonus to hit when shooting at close range (defined by your weapon, and grows larger as you get better at it). The downsides to ranged attacks are you can't use ranged attacks *at all* if in melee, and you can't both retreat away from an enemy and shoot in the same round, though you can close on one and shoot.
