Under The Ethereal Marketplace
Zuhma's Sewer Quest
Smelly, Humid, Wet

As Maag and Andron whisper to each other in the dark tunnel, Theo suggests Alordan move to the back of the group.

Andron casts a spell that will help him understand the tiny writing in the book they found, guessing by the initial perusal that this is some kind of log book recording multiple business transactions.

Percy returns to the group, wondering if they will continue their trek forward into the sewers or if they are contemplating other ideas.

He holds up the dossier. "They may not have been sent to retrieve something valuable, but this portfolio certainly is. It appears to be logs of business transactions. There may be records of Zuhma's tome in here. We'd need time to study it, though. I wonder what the last entry is ..." He attempts to identify the most recent transaction.

Percy thinks for a moment before speaking. "We could take a longer route around this passage, but it will add a lot more time and a degree of danger we didn't account for." He looks back up the tunnel. "I we have been spotted, we are already no longer safe in here regardless of which route we take."

Andron pages to the end of the log book, reading the final transaction. He doesn't see anything about a magic tome, but there are plenty of other incriminating transactions logged throughout the book. Oddly, the very final addition appears to be a completely different script than the others, written in a sloppy rough hand. It contains what appears to be an address for a building in the Marketplace above.

"I don't see any entry referencing a tome, but there are plenty of incriminating entries that I'm sure Garzanthanon would not want to fall into the hands of the authorities. The final entry though is written in a different script than the others and it refers to an address in the Marketplace. I think it will prove worthwhile to investigate this building."

So, to the marketplace now? As Percy said, we've been spotted. And some of us aren't in very good shape.

Yes let's go check out this place. Maybe there has been a change of leaders or a change of places.

Zuhma's Sewer Quest

Percy seems confused initially, but he does as he is told.

Without interference, the group is escorted back through the stinking sewer tunnels to the area where they entered.

Percy leads the way, crawling up through the pipe entrance as before and addressing the group once outside in the Marketplace again.

"This address is not close by, and I am not terribly familiar with the neighborhoods inhabited by the high society folks. I would guess it will take about an hour to travel there from this point."

An unknown merchant walks past the empty alleyway containing the entry pipe and gives the foot soaked group a strange look before continuing along his way through the loud and crowded Ethereal Marketplace.

"That is a distinct possibility, Miss Feanol. The last entry was written in a completely different style of writing. We may not be the only ones pursuing the Book of the Dead."

"A high society neighborhood?" He responds to Percy's comment on their destination.

"That is certainly far closer to my element than a sewer, at least. We are poorly dressed for such an area, though. Let's see how far we can get. Perhaps there is a tavern we can rest in and gather information nearby, as well."

Theo feels bad about being the only one who can walk above the repulsive muck. But he was already as vile and filthy as everyone else when he found the ring. He goes along the group, his bastard sword providing light.

Torbath does like the sound of that more than the sewers, but either way he urges the group on.

Zuhma's Sewer Quest

Once Maag mentions something about buying a ladder, Percy leads the stinking group through the back streets and alleyways of the Ethereal Marketplace, attracting plenty of looks and jeers along the way.

After walking around the busy avenues for nearly an hour, seeing things (and creatures) they have never seen before, it becomes clear that one could likely find anything they needed somewhere inside this massive never-ending function.

Moving through a guarded gatehouse into what appears to be a cleaner section of town, Percy stops outside a building with a sign above the door that reads: Ye Olde Tavern. He turns to the group and shrugs his little shoulders. "Never been inside this place before. I hope they have a bath house."

"Only one way to find out," he replies into Percy's shell. Offering the compendium of logs to Torbath and Feanol, "Care to continue where I left off? I suggest working back from the most recent entry. There maybe additional clues as to what happened with this last entry."

He then enters the establishment and hails whomever appears to be the proprietor. "Hello, my friends and I are in need of a room, bath, and our clothes washed. I assume this would be sufficient and then some?" He proffers a small white pearl (25gp).
