Re: Chapter 8 - Into the Swamp
Continuing on the group moves the raft to stay further away from the lizardfolk and are not pursued. The rest of the day and evening go by without incident. In the night you see some larger than normal and normal sized fireflies they are outdone though by the strange green glow of the beacon still in the southerly distance from you. Travel through the night is easy to know which way to the beacon but harder to know which way will make you avoid the lizardfolk. But the group manages to make it to day break without incident. You suspect you must be getting closer to the beacon as there is a unsettling lack of wildlife in the swamp or at least significantly fewer than you have seen. Just after breakfast you notice something moves in the water near the raft to the east, then another moves past the raft on the west. Then some bubbles and water ripples beneath the water directly in front of the raft. Though you cannot currently see what it is being made by all you can do is speculate.

Trist and Jivet
Trist tells Jivet to take flight invisibly and stay aloft or roost nearby to keep an eye on things.
Trist heads to the front of the raft and will call out to Egon any course changes in case something imposes an impasse in front of the raft they might need to steer around. "Egon, there are bubble directly ahead, but go slow and if something gets in the way I'll try and guide us through it. Something maybe after breakfast though and we might look like a nice plate. How they can tell though is beyond me. I have Jivet aloft looking as well. She'll let me know if she spots anything too. Everyone to the middle of the raft. If we get tipped, being in the center will give better balance. Grab onto anything secured. We should have made secured foot holds to put our feet in on this raft. Something for later on maybe."
Trist looks for a way to brace herself and allow her hands to be free for her bow and give her some stability.

Weston
Not particularly at home in the swamp, Weston takes Trist's advice and moves to the centre of the raft and looks for something to grab onto.

The man draws his daggers, and stays attentive, trying to discern what might be underwater - "Crocs? Hippos?" - he whispered.
Damn! We need a Druid

Re: Chapter 8 - Into the Swamp
Speculating at what is making the movements and bubbles eventually is made known. When a big angry lizard like creature pops up out of the water. Green scaly almost leather like hide, big head, rows of very sharp deadly looking teeth snap at the raft. feel free to roll a wisdom check. The creatures does not look like the lizardfolk you saw observing you and any familiar with nature even those not can tell this thing means business and that would be making a meal out of at least one of you. Though right now it acts more like it is testing you, as it misses biting anyone and slips back into the water unseen but for a moment before something bumps the bottom of the raft, then again. Then nothing movement in the water and it emerges again mouth chomping those teeth that show it means business but it doesn't bite anyone everyone is too quick to dodge.

Trist has her bow ready as well.
"If we have any fresh meat, we can toss it away from the raft and let it go after that and leave us alone. If so we just move quickly away while it's going after the free lunch. What do you think? We can fight it off too."

Del
Del offers up some information that she remembers from somewhere "That looks like a creature I heard of once - I think it was called an Allie-gator. I think it can swim or walk on land and does loves to eat meat. They are very good swimmers at that. I think the Allie-gator has grab and death roll maneuver to subdue and dismember prey. The 'death roll', involves rapid rotation about the longitudinal axis of the Allie-gator. I think it was named after a young woman named Allie that it killed this way."

May know it is an allie-gator as well and wishes it was a bearded Mermaid... Arms his crossbow knowing he does not have any fresh meat or food to distract the beast.
