Yes, f is flechette.
And, D is DEADLY
Yes, f is flechette.
Serious sounds nastier than Medium, so why is the Ares more expensive? Is it because of the bigger ammo clip? Or does "flechette" come with drawbacks (like armor better protects against it or something?)?shaidar wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 5:32 pm L=LIGHT
M=MEDIUM
S=SERIOUS
The 'f' just means it's flechette damage.
I can't remember exactly why but a higher number is better for the chance to cause damage, but a higher damage level is also better because it's where the damage level starts before people roll to resist and armour comes into play.
I will probably do that. Should probably get at least a smartlink when it comes to cyberware.shaidar wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 6:03 pm If you're interested in the Ares Predator and have a smartlink then go for the Ares Predator II from Cannon Companion. It has a smartlink built in so you don't have to pay extra to have it fitted like the original Ares Predator. I can give specs:, damage 9M, 15 clip , conceal 4, weight 2.5, cost 550Y
As a minimum a smartlink. But I would suggest cybereyes with vision enhancements: low light and/or thermographic, plus flare compensation. Buying cybereyes costs 0.2 essence but you can add extras (such as low light vision) up to another 0.5 essence without it costing that essence.archolewa wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 6:09 pmI will probably do that. That's a good point, we should be able to hit hard when we need to but ensure we have other options. I might buy a tazer, or I remember there being guns that fire sleeping darts, need to try and locate those.Gremlin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 6:12 pm The talk of weapons brings up an interesting question: How lethal are we planning on being? There should be non-lethal weapon options (or maybe that's in later editions?) unless we're always planning on using lethal force. And I imagine having a reputation of always using lethal force might not be a good thing.
I know it makes sense from a mechanics standpoint, but Baby Blue treasures her eyes. She ain't touching them. I'm gonna play around a bit and see if I can afford some plastic bone lacing. More body seems always good, and it would help keep her from being in quite so much trouble if she's up close and personal with someone. Nevermind. Bone lacing availability is too high.shaidar wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 6:16 pmAs a minimum a smartlink. I was actually considering getting a comm-link cyberware. Baby Blue silently listening in on various frequencies seems right up her "always quiet, always watching" vibe that she's developing. Though, it's not clear to me how much actual spying she can do with one.
Waaaaaay too expensive. The cheapest is 55K. Something to keep an eye on after a few successful runs.
Yes, please keep in mind this section of the FAQ:Gremlin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 6:12 pm The talk of weapons brings up an interesting question: How lethal are we planning on being? There is also the Ares Squirt. It squirts DMSO plus another chemical of your choice. The DMSO makes the stuff seep through armor and the skin.shaidar wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 6:18 pmThat's a good point, we should be able to hit hard when we need to but ensure we have other options. I think there is a hand taser that uses Armed Combat and a pistol one that uses Pistols.
