Re: Chapter 3: The truth lies in the mountain...
"Split forces evenly for each door. Bowmen fire first followed by swords. Strike hard, drive into the room," whispers and signals Deceidon.
At first sight of a bandit, Deceidon fires two arrows:
1) http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... e&id=21175
2) http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... e&id=21176
(surpise round attack, should we get surprise on them.) If not, count as first round rolls. If that was a surprise, follow with first round bow attack (if possible):
1) http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... e&id=21177
2) http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... e&id=21178
If not (cause others have closed in for melee attacks), then Deceidon holds and lets soldiers attack first in these tight quarters. If a bandit gets close to Deceidon, he will attack with sword: http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... e&id=21179

Re: Chapter 3: The truth lies in the mountain...
Nice rolls over there for Deceidon! Once I get a response from Gustov for the surprise round, and an actual surprise round roll from one of you guys, I will move things forward. I will not expect Flynn or Whitsell to attack during a surprise, given that they made such matters clear in the first place, so I will just be waiting on Gustov.
On another note, my work schedule is actually quite busy this week, because it is the holiday time of the month. I will be able to provide an update if it is just before 10:30 E.S.T., otherwise I will not be able to respond until 8:00 at night E.S.T. today. You can expect this for most of the week, save wednesday and thursday, just as a heads up.

Gustov, Fighter/Thief
Gustov shouts to Laywin, the soldier, and Mial, "Forward, now!" and unleashes two thrown daggers at the nearest bandit, and then draws his elven dagger and a second dagger.
Gustov, thrown dagger (THAC0 20): to hit, [1d20+3] = 5+3 = 8, damage, [1d4+3] = 2+3 = 5 need to update macro, THAC0 is 17, hits ac 9
Gustov, thrown dagger (THAC0 17): to hit, [1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9, damage, [1d4+3] = 3+3 = 6 hits ac 8

I am confused on how surprise rounds affect when fighters get 2nd attack for specialized weapons, ie that counts, so Whitsell waits for round 2, or surprise, then whtsell gets 2 in round 1??? anyway if you need Whitsell's 2nd attack to go with earlier post, here it is:
long sword attack [1d20+4] = 12+4 = 16 thac019; damage [1d8+4] = 6+4 = 10

Re: Chapter 3: The truth lies in the mountain...
I will consider this your first attack once the first round of official combat begins. On the second round of official combat, you will get your two weapon strikes. Because your character, correct me if I'm wrong in assuming this, does not want to attack during the surprise round, he does not build up his 2nd attack by just waiting. The only way you can start building up multiple attacks in a single round is by attacking... does this make sense?onlyme wrote:Rukellian wrote:Nice rolls over there for Deceidon! By the way, still need that surprise roll from you guys, or did I overlook it?

Re: Chapter 3: The truth lies in the mountain...
The group was prepared, their plan moving along smoothly. Finding the doors closed in the tunnel, they suspected bandits and surrounded the two doors thusly. Using Amberlynn's scream as bait, the group pounced on the incoming bandits and caught them all by surprise. Deceidon is quick to act as the doors swing open, firing off two arrows towards a bandit to his right, effectively dropping the opponent before Whitsell could even react. The bandit next to Captain Hal and the soldier has the best of luck though as Captain Hal's longsword swing, the soldiers short sword swing, and Kitra's arrow from her short bow all miss. Right side is now down to four bandits, one is still outside the door.
On the other side of the tunnel, the two bandits that rush outside of the door are finished quite quickly. Gustov lands a solid hit with each of his thrown daggers. Mial and Laywin both finish off their adversaries with a swift swing of their blades. The left side has 3 bandits left, all down the corridor behind the opened door.
Admittedly this will be short combat session. I could explain why this is, but I'd rather do that later. Once I get Flynn's and Gustov's rolls/actions for the first round of combat, we can continue. I already have Whitsell's and Deceidon's.

Gustov moves forward to engage the bandits in melee with his knives.
Gustov, right hand dagger melee (THAC0 19): to hit, [1d20+5] = 3+5 = 8 | damage, [1d4+6] = 3+6 = 9 additional +1 for his elven blade, hits ac 10

Ah, for those that did not sleep well, you will need to roll a group initiative before we start. Deceidon and Flynn are off the hook and will always be able to act first today. Unless, you would like me to roll for you guys?

Enemy initiative roll: [1d6] = 2onlyme wrote:Roll away... that way I can blame you...
Player group's initiative roll: [1d6] = 4
You guys go first.

The marching party of adventurers acts quickly once more, taking the enemy down much more quickly thant they can react. As soon as new bandits take the places of the previously fallen, Captain Hal and Whitsell both take down their targets simultaneously. Kitra, not being left outdone, let's loose an arrow that strikes one of the bandits still in the eastern corridor. 2 bandits are now left on the right side, with one slightly wounded.
On the other side, Flynn demonstrates his wililngness to fight and impress as a performs a forward acrobatic tumble towards the doorway, jumps up onto his feet, shouts a witty taunt and then cuts down one of the bandits with his rapier. "Ho Ho! Scoundrels! A day of reckoning be apon you!" Gustov joins in on the action and cuts down another bandit with his dagger, his second strike slicing air. The elven dagger of fine make was the real thing he thought as it performed quite well, even with the imbalance in the half-elf's footing. Mial and Laywin just looks at each other in shock as they realize how quickly the second round of combat just ended, right in front of them too. Awestruck by Flynn's and Gustov's burst of speed and ability they felt slightly outclassed and stepped aside for them, out of respect. The soldiers posted at each door as stare in bewilderment as the adventurer's cut down their foes with such ease. All they can think of doing is just keeping the shields up as they were told.
The left side is now down to just one poor bandit left. Flynn and Gustov both stare the poor man down with intense eyes, almost as if they were saying "Really? You're going to try and take us on?".

Gustov attacks the remaining bandit with the pommels of his knives, aiming to knock the man unconscious.

"If you value your life, how many of you are left, where, and does your camp lie in the mountain or outside!" snaps Deceidon. "Quick!"
Re: Chapter 3: The truth lies in the mountain...
The skirmish in the tunnel is quickly resolved as Whitsell takes down the remaining two bandits on his side with ease. On the other side, Gustov shows some mercy and only pommel strikes the bandit into submission. Before being allowed to fall unconscious, the bandit is brought to the group of 15 in the tunnel and is quickly interrogated by Deceidon. "If you value your life, how many of you are left, where, and does your camp lie in the mountain or outside!" snaps Deceidon. "Quick!"
The bandit, already heavily demoralized and beaten, drops his sword and answers the group. "At least 50, outside the mountain entrance, some of us are stilling diggin' inside the mountain, its all I know!" The bandit is barely able to choke those words out, and collapses to the ground, still breathing quite heavily as he points towards the end of the tunnel ahead.
Amberlynn rushes towards Flynn during the interrogation and checks to make sure he is alright. "My goodness! I didn't know you were so talented with the sword. Watching you perform like that, it was a bit exhilarating if you don't mind me saying," she finishes with a smile.

Re: Chapter 3: The truth lies in the mountain...
Do we know if by "mountain entrance" that is an above-ground entrance into the mountain? Or an underground tunnel entrance into the mountain? By them "digging into the mountain" does that mean from above or underground? If Deceidon is uncertain of these answers, he'll ask the bandit with a dagger to his throat.
Then: "What is your mission here, and to whom and when were you to report?"
Once answered, Deceidon tells the men: "Don bandits cloaks, it may deceive foe and give us surprise later."
