Update!

This first push is taking a few days longer than anticipated (as usual). But fear not! The ball will begin to roll shortly.

I've decided that we won't dish out magic items to begin with, since it looks like there will be every opportunity to find some fun things along the way.

If I can't get things started by tomorrow evening, then certainly by Monday you'll be able to start posting. Thanks for your patience, everyone!

The adventure thread is up! However, it's only the first half of the post, and it's really late so the actual part you can respond to will have to wait until tomorrow.

My apologies that it's taken so long to get the game going, I know I had said we'd be started by the end of last week!

Thanks! I'm trying to lean into Lucas' source inspirations as much as Star Wars itself, not just to separate us from "real Star Wars," but also to get us into a certain frame of mind about the sorts of adventuring we can expect to have.

For the curious, for this adventure I am in fact borrowing liberally not just from old Star Wars ideas, but also from a number of the oldest of old school modules and game reports. And in keeping with the whole "proto draft" theme, wherever possible I'm pulling from the pre-publication or anecdotal versions of those modules. I'm excited for this game, it should be able to branch out into several different adventure styles depending on how you want to play it, or maybe a bit of everything.

As we get started on the way to Townowi, I'll start drafting up short house rules posts, mostly on combat. The draft rules use a very particular—and difficult to parse—blend of Chainmail combat and proto-D&D combat, and it will help us all to have the details hammered out from the start.

I am not sure if I will have time to check up on these games while I am there, so it's possible I won't be back here till Monday or so.
