Morphin takes to his new duties well while Jing Ji-ho convalesces and sees the men content with their duty assignments.

Morwen extracts as much of the dark magic as she can. It had been an exceptionally rich vein but that doesn't translate to greater amounts of power available to her as it fades away faster than expected. Within the first week the necrotic power is effectively gone and no extra effort is needed to purify the area beyond recovering the remains of the victims and performing their last rites properly.

Over the next few weeks several more of the troops come down with ghoul fever but no one dies due to Darfilla's treatments.

In that time the healthier people inspect the barrows led by Morwen as she locates the magical goods she detected.
Among them she recovers:
28 scrolls, 6 of which bear religious inscriptions, 8 are protective wards and the rest are of arcane nature.
17 potions, 2 are the same as 2 of the unidentified potions from the ogres. The Alchemists will be busy.
a sword, clearly of Ravenmake bearing an aura of transmutation.
a suit of (human sized) archaic heavy armor, its adornments and symbols of protection have been defaced.
Because the area is secured random encounters become weekly to see if anything interesting wanders by.

In a rare moment of organization, Darfilla instigates the investigation into the nature of the newly discovered magical items. She does occasionally mutter something about "job description" now and again, but seems happy.

Armor Darfilla Investigate [2d6]=5

Sword Darfilla Investigate [2d6]=9

14 arcane scrolls
Darfilla Investigate [2d6]=4 [2d6]=11 [2d6]=3 [2d6]=3 [2d6]=3
Darfilla Investigate [2d6]=5 [2d6]=6 [2d6]=8 [2d6]=4 [2d6]=10
Darfilla Investigate [2d6]=8 [2d6]=4 [2d6]=10 [2d6]=11

18 potions (since 4 are the same and one is healing) (+2 for Brew Potions, +1 for Alchemist)
Darfilla Investigate [2d6+3]=4+3=7 [2d6+3]=6+3=9 [2d6+3]=9+3=12 [2d6+3]=7+3=10 [2d6+3]=6+3=9 [2d6+3]=7+3=10
Darfilla Investigate [2d6+3]=8+3=11 [2d6+3]=8+3=11 [2d6+3]=7+3=10 [2d6+3]=8+3=11 [2d6+3]=8+3=11 [2d6+3]=5+3=8
Darfilla Investigate [2d6+3]=3+3=6 [2d6+3]=8+3=11 [2d6+3]=7+3=10 [2d6+3]=4+3=7 [2d6+3]=5+3=8 [2d6+3]=9+3=12

Addendum She changed her mind and tested the "healing" potion, just to make sure: Darfilla Investigate [2d6+3]=9+3=12

Darfilla learns...
Nothing about the armor
That the sword can transform but she hasn't determined how to do it yet.
She can read Arcane scrolls: 2, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14 (I have given her +1 INT so 8+ succeeds)
She identifies all Potions except: 1, 13, 16

Arcane Scrolls (each spell is a separate scroll contained inside the same container, one roll identifies them all once its opened as they were penned by the same caster)
Scroll 2 (Gust of Wind)
Scroll 8 (Detect Good, Ogre Power, 2 x Stinking Cloud, Web)
Scroll 10 (Lower Water, Spiritwrack, Stone to Flesh)
Scroll 11 (Air Breathing, Blink, Feign Death, Darkvision, Protection from Normal Missiles, Suggestion)
Scroll 13 (Clairvoyance, Fly, Gust of Wind, Darkvision, Lightning Bolt, 2 x Protection from Normal Missiles)
Scroll 14 (Antipathy/Sympathy, Monster Summoning VI, Otto's Irresistable Dance, Trap the Soul)

Potions (I put the ogre potions at the end because I had already numbered the ghoul ones)
1 Unknown
2 Philter of Persuasiveness
3 Potion of Clairaudience
4 Potion of Fire Resistance
5 Potion of Flying
6 Potion of Frost Giant Strength
7 Potion of Ghast Control
8 Potion of Growth
9 2 x Potion of Heroism (1 from Ogres)
10 3 x Potion of Invulnerability (2 from Ogres)
11 2 x Potion of Levitation
12 Potion of Longevity
13 Potion of Dark Water (Darfilla failed, but Morwen can ID this one instantly since its distilled necromancy)
14 Potion of Speed
15 Potion of Stone Giant Strength
16 Potion of Sweet Water (Darfilla failed, but Morwen can ID this one instantly as its the exact opposite of Dark Water)
17 Potion of Treasure Finding
18 Potion of Gaseous Form
19 Potion of Healing

Morwen

After watching Darfilla trying to figure out what the collected items were, she decided to take a crack at it.

Armor - Scholar skill [_2d6]=(1+4)=5 Armor

Sword - Scholar skill [_2d6]=(1+1)=2 Sword

Failing to identify the magic imbued in the sword, Morwen pauses. "Perhaps it would be best to have Corbin take a look at these items..."

Potion 1 - Scholar skill [_2d6]=(1+3)=4 Potion #1

Morwen, feeling a bit defeated, does recognize both Dark Water and Sweet Water.

My assumption is that Cuvine is also welcome to help.

Cuivne's Apprentice skill let's her help Morwen. Its of no help on the sword.

After much debate the mages determine the obvious: the armor with defaced sigils is cursed. What that curse is they have no idea.

Grave Treasures

Aside from the magical goods the main barrow contains many treasures sunken into its muck. They were once held in magnificent chests or displayed on intricately carved stands. But wet and rot has ruined much of the wood and spilling its gilded lines and precious stones into the mud. It seems the barrow was once an excavated space with room for a dozen crypts and even a lower floor but while the stone floor and chamber is intact it has filled in almost entirely.

It would be the work of many days by strong arms to dig everything out.

Just to be clear, this is an OSR game so while things may be cursed, you are expected to retrieve treasures from tombs, graves, et al. So long as they aren't inside civilized areas of your religions that is.

Morphin

Once the area is cleared, there will be time to dig and sift treasure from the dirt. It becomes the usual standard of half of the hands digging, half watching. It will take longer, of course, but safety is key.

Cleric Scrolls
Borav Scoll ID [2d6]=11, [2d6]=7,[2d6]=9 IDs 1 and 3. May try again with study on 2.
Balin Scroll 2 ID [2d6]=6 Try again later.

Scroll 1: (Bless, Protection from Evil, 2 x Sanctuary)
Scroll 2: Pending
Scroll 3: (Animate Object, 2 x Harm, Lose the Path)

The other 3 scrolls are not actually clerical and no one present knows how to read them.

Protection Scrolls
Protection from Elementals Scroll
2x Protection from Lycanthropes Scroll
Protection from Magic Scroll
2 x Protection from Petrification Scroll
Protection from Possession Scroll
Protection from Undead Scroll

You will need to take the sword and armor to another mage if you want to know more. Or spend time studying them (time not spent doing anything else useful).

Morwen

Sighing softly as she continued studying the armor and the sword, Morwen finally speaks in a solemn tone. "I can take these to Corbin, and once they're identified, bring them back so we can decide what to do with them. Is there anything else I should take back with me?" She waited patiently to see if anyone had anything to add.

Jing Ji-ho

Assuming this is said once he's a bit less under then undead flu.

"The idea of it is fine, the risk of it is high. The land between here and there is not yet settled and too small of a group could get killed. Let's wait for the next resupply run, and that will minimize risk." Ji-ho said. "What do you think?"

Unless Morwen wants a side adventure. :) Then she's more than welcome.

Woo-hoo! I'm pretty sure we have plenty of food and supplies to spare.

On the sword, if it's something only a Ravenfolk can use, Morwen could either 'buy' it for Macnav, or sell it to Corbin. Otherwise it's something the group would have to discuss.

The most likely option is they are out digging in the marsh to find the fallen treasures.

A summary of Morwen's dealings with her mentor.

Morwen readies to depart midmorning, after the fog lifts, on Macnav's advice. Travelling with just their own light loads they can make it back to Ravenswell well before nightfall so no need to risk the mists. All is going apace with Macnav handing their bags to the silent porters containing the items they have yet to identify. As they make to depart Morwen, quite suddenly, directs her troupe up the hill atop the fort and stops there.

For awhile she looks off to the east and seems to talk to the air until she places several things into a rucksack, pours Black Water over the magic sword and says something in Blacktongue (the language of the Ravenfolk). To the amazement of all those watching the sword transforms into a raven, grabs the sack and flies off to the east. It returns several hours later, alights on the floor in front of Jing Ji-ho, caws and clatters to the stone as a sword once more.

Jing Ji-ho

I'm assuming the sack is there as well.

"Well, that's interesting," Ji-ho said, looking at the sword and the sack. It was a time of quiet rest for him, one of many lately. He shrugged, leaned over, and examined the sword. "Yes, the same one. Darfilla said the sword can transform, and Morwen said the sword is of Raven make. Let's see what it has brought us."

Ji-ho put the sword beside his own.

Things in this color are said in his native tongue.
