The Princess

Once they get to the mouth, she starts creeping along to scout out deeper into the cave. Heading towards the previous crying and snoring.

If she spots anything that should be making noise, she will remember to keep her distance so as to not cause a silent disruption. Things like a crying princess, for example.

Wes secures his safety line with three spikes along it's 10' length. The remaining 40' of rope, he hangs on a fourth spike.

Movement and other actions are possible while the CL is in effect, but he wouldn't be able to summon any other magic with another spell already in motion. (at least I think that was how I ruled on that before)

Elnaerel casts a protection spell upon herself as the others head into the dark opening in the mountainside. (Was Lerrick going to do that as well?)

Wes keeps banging away on the spikes he is securing in the hard, frozen stone, leaving ropes hanging in his wake as he moves around on his private lower ledge.

Tlachtga continues with her magic, watching the sky above becoming darker and darker.

Princess and Cresty move in, leaving no trace of sound, tracks, or odor behind. As they move past the specific spot where they heard the crying and snoring earlier, all is silent around them. In fact, they hear absolutely nothing, including each other, while the spells are in place. They can however, feel the intensity of their rapidly beating hearts.

When the scouting pair rounds the next bend in the huge tunnel, it feels as though they have entered a much, much larger chamber. However, with no light source at hand, Cresty sees nothing but darkness ahead. Princess lets her heat sensing vision adjust to the darkness for a moment, though once it does, she too sees only the faint outline of a huge chamber ahead. She spots no heat whatsoever in here. She can't tell if it is because of the extreme temperature, or if there is actually nothing alive within her current range of vision. The frigid air in here gets colder with every step.

The Princess

She keeps hold of Cresty's hand and starts to follow the chamber walls around. She's looking for residual heat or outlines of branching chambers.

The Princess steps carefully and keeps the wall within arm's reach as she moves.

Does that new dragonslaying sword of Cresty's supposed to do anything while in the presence of dragons?

The fighter moves forward with his left hand holding The Princess's hand and the other clutching the hilt of the dragonslayer sword...hesitant to pull it out of its scabbard. He'll do so after more investigation of the large area, totally relying on The Princess to guide the two of them through the blackness.

While those outside wait for..........well..........anything to happen, Princess and Cresty continue moving into the vast chamber in complete silence.

Cresty can see absolutely nothing through the frozen darkness, still holding tight to the frail elf's hand, glad to have all his protections from the bitter elements here.

Moving in a semicircle direction around the west side of these cave walls, nothing is found after another minute of cautious infiltration. Then Princess suddenly thinks she spots a weak heat signature in the distance, likely somewhere along the back wall of this chamber. The figure appears to be about human size, but it must be right at the edge of her infravision, as the view is quite faint.

She squeezes Cresty's hand a bit and pulls him towards the weak heat source. Still trying to stay within arm's reach of the wall.

While Wes, Tlachtga, Elnaerel, and Lerrick wait outside the mountain, with their spell durations slowly passing, they hope their freezing friends fare well on the inside.

Squeezing each others hands for warmth as much as physical reassurance, the 2 person invasion team moves further inside the dark chamber in complete silence. Wondering if they are missing any audible clues as they search, Princess bravely follows the heat source she sees ahead.

Sticking close to the outer wall, they bump into what must be a iron gate or cage of some kind. Seeing only dark shapes beyond, they step around it and continue forward until they spot a second cage like structure, this one containing the human sized heat source seen earlier. They hear no talking, snoring, shouting, or any other noise as they eventually locate the small padlocked door in these frozen iron bars.

The figure beyond remains still, likely laying on the ground in the center of the small cage by the looks of the heat signature. The silent stillness is almost as creepy as the feeling of being watched from somewhere beyond the darkness.
