The Ethereal Job
The Spoils
The Dark Rock

A second spell of magic detection reveals a few more of their newly found trinkets as magical.

The gnomes continue to look through the items themselves, disregarding any comments addressed towards their actions. Grumble tosses another of the oddly shaped stones up into the air, and amazingly, it does not drop to the ground as the first one did. Instead, it slowly orbits the gnomes head, like some kind of magic halo. Grumble nods and smiles, glad he didn’t break anything else yet.

Grimble continues his attempt to open the engraved box, the determined look on his little face gets more intense the longer he inspects his prize. Maag has seen this look before.

Actions?

The total treasure haul ends up looking like this:
Approximately 14,000gp in gold or platinum coins, gems, jewelry, and trinkets.

*A velvet bag containing a few oddly shaped colored stones. (less the one Grumble broke)
*One Ring: this ring is pure gold and has 3 indentations where small gems might have once been set. Only one tiny diamond remains in a final fourth setting.

* = checked out as magical

Alordan suggests, "hey Grimble, why don't you take that box over there a little ways if you are set on opening it. Who knows what kind of trap that thing has on it?"

With little else to do, he'll take a look at the sword and armor if no one else is poking around at it. The sword is quite a nice piece of work after all.

Feanol

After finishing the sweep of magic detection will turn her attention to the staff she still holds. Examining it for any signs or clues to its purpose.

Theo stands well away from Grimble and the platinum chest. He wonders about the stone orbiting Grumble's head and says to him, Mind if I try drawing a stone from the bag?

The Ethereal Job
The Spoils
The Dark Rock

Grumble initially yanks the bag of magic stones away from the reach of Theo, but then looks inside again, as if counting those remaining. He then reluctantly opens the bag up again, allowing anyone who wants to pick one out for themselves to do so. (I would take a D50 roll from anyone willing to pick out a stone)

Feanol looks over her staff closely, finding it covered in carved arcane ruins and sigils. She has heard of powerful staves before and wonders what Powers this one might possess.

Alordan finds the sword, armor, and shield to be of the finest quality he has ever seen. Surely these items are better than any currently possessed by the group.

Grimble does as he’s told and moves away from the others. He pulls out a tiny wand and taps the platinum coffer three times. Clearly holding it upside down, the vessel snaps open with the lid swinging downwards. Once opened, the gnome is nearly buried by another wave of coins and gems that pour forth that finally stops after climbing up to the gnomes knees. This pile is nearly as large as the spoils you’ve counted already. “A Coffer of Holding?”

Torbath is infatuated with the magic ring that has the single diamond remaining, as if this might be the most important item they’ve found so far.

Feanol

Glancing up from the staff she sees Grimble offer the stones so she goes over and takes one then throws it up to see what happens.

Maag

Maag limps over to Grimble. "Not bad. Not at bad all. I thought dat yer would at least be missin' a couple of fingers".

He looks at Grumble's bag suspiciously. "Talkin' of losin' fingers...if yer givin' dem shiny fings away, I reckon' dat I will try my luck". Maag dips in his hand.

Alordan draws the pretty sword to examine it further. “Well if no one is interested I’ll hold on to this. I have this one that is quite nice”

He’ll consider the chain mail also next if folks are preoccupied still.

Maag already has a magical bastard sword and has no use for the shield or the chainmail

I am glad I came up with 30 new stone ideas so you could all roll within 5 numbers of each other.

The Ethereal Job
The Spoils
The Dark Rock

Feanol picks out a bright orange stone from the bag and tosses it up, instantly making her feel much stronger. (+2 STR)

Maag picks out a spherical red stone that encircles his head once tossed upwards, making him much smarter suddenly. (+2 INT)

Theo follows the others, his clear rhomboid making him feel much healthier. (+2 CON)

Torbath plucks out a dull grey stone that doesn't do anything after being tossed, shattering on the ground just as Grumbles did.

The grumpy gnome looks into the bag as he approaches his brother. "Only 2 left."

Alordan takes a few swings with the exquisite longsword, finding it as light in the hand as it is easy to weild. (let's call this one +3 for now, in case I forget later)

Grimble leaves the new pile of treasure without counting a coin or gem. He approaches Torbath after noticing he set the fancy ring aside for now. "May I have a closer look at that diamond ring again, please?"

Maag

As the stone swirls around his head, Maag closes his eyes and raises his hands to his temples. After a few seconds, he begins to speak.

"Der...square...of der...hypotenuse...is equal to der square...of der other two sides!"

Eyes wide open, Maag snatches the stone from the air. Holding it up, he says, "Right den. I've figured dis one out. It gives yer der magic power to talk bollocks".

Alordan admires the sword and sheathes it in place of his other trusty one. He hands the chainmail over to Theo and wishes him well with it. "I have this sword also that has served me well - it is more than meets the eye if you find a need for it..."

Feanol

She thanks the gnome. Not sure, but having felt a similar change previously (her strength is now more than twice what she started with) feels she has again gained more strength. She then turns her thoughts back to the staff she holds in her right hand and traces it's intricacies with her left pondering how to unlock its wonders.

The Ethereal Job
The Spoils
The Dark Rock

Grimble literally gasps after he looks over the ring with the single diamond and three missing stones again. He takes out his trusty wand and taps the ring lightly, nodding his head through the entire process.

"THIS! This is the prize of the whole find! Do you have any idea what you could do with this ring?" (obviously not, or I wouldn't have to do this)

The gnome looks through all the stuff again, doing some difficult math in his head before responding.

"Tell you all what! Let us claim the coffer and its contents, the horn, the tork, and this RING. You can have all the rest."

Feanol looks over her staff as Alordan sheaths his new and improved sword. The mage wonders how she could Identify what the staff really is.
