Up until now all of the doors encountered have been of three types: massive stone doors, pivoting upon hidden hinges, wooden doors retrofited to fit in larger openings, and wooden doors built for standard, man-sized openings. This door is unlike any of the three types. It is metal -- steel, it looks like, for it is rusted and pitted from moisture -- with a complicated looking lock. Engraved on the face of the door, and about eye-height, is a phrase in the language that only Beykoyun can read: "Laboratory of Faisim Hirti, Order of the Red Magi. State your business before entering".

Themon says, Or maybe it's "your business before entering". You never know how literal these mages are.

Quick question, before I dive back into it, did y'all search the other two corpses on the floor? I believe you lassoed one and pulled it over for examination.

We have not yet searched the other two bodies. We got distracted by the chest and then the door.

“It just occurred to me, we should search the two bodies here,” exclaimed Dirk. “Perhaps they have a clue. We got distracted by the chest and door.”

Themon turns to Megshag. Do you know anything about this door or Faisim Hirti?

Megsha shrugs their shoulders. "Nope. Weird-sounding name, but you humans all have weird-sounding names." A search of the two remaining bodies reveals something of interest: one of the corpses, long dried and dessicated, but wearing mouldering robes that may once have been red, has in one pocket a long, slender steel key that looks as though it very well might fit into the keyhole of the door.

Themon says, Interesting stuff. Looks like this key might mean we don't have to worry about stating our business first. I say we try the door with the key and have a look!

Themon says, Do we tell the truth? 'Hi, my name is Themon and I'm here to rob you blind!' Not sure how well that would go.

“Why thank you,” replied Dirk to the one-eyed cyclopskin. “You have a funny way of seeing things.”

The dervish stepped back around the corner, peeking around it to view the key-and-flattery attempt at door opening.

Themon says, Well, I'm living on borrowed time so it's time to get to living it!

He takes the key and walks up to the door.

In a loud voice directed at the door, he says, We're here to see the laboratory of Faisim Hirti.

He inserts the key and turns it in the lock.
