Moriartus

He eventually notices the object of Dougal's unnatural attention, and the gathering rodents all but confirm the source of this effect. "It's the scarecrows!" He whispers harshly. He then casts Mirror Image and moves a few feet in the direction of the one Dougal is transfixed by.

Hake

Hake raises his shield to block out the sight of the scarecrows. Moving over to Dougal, he takes hold of the strap on the ranger's backpack. Gripping it firmly, Hake attempts to pull Dougal back into shelter.

Jorly smiles and takes in the lush fields before him - oblivious to the warnings around him. "You know, I love how the wind bends the tops of the barley just so. It's like life bending and twisting those caught in it's wake..."

Village of the Damned

Startled by the woman at the crib, the invisible pair of Dufr & Dalin decide not to intrude and step backwards away from the cabin. While Dufr lightfoots his steps and can cross to investigate another cabin with smoke exiting the chimney stack, Dalin literally puts his foot in it. With the high roll such a failure, he inadvertently steps upon a cracked verandah board and his heavyweight crashes his foot through it, trapping him up to his calf in splintered wood. The noisy crack of wood is heard in the cabin and the harassed woman rises to investigate.

Actions Dalin a successful FRT skill check means you can lift your foot out of the hole, fail and you are temporarily restrained.

Dufr, any specific action?

Meanwhile outside the hamlet and away from the dwarven eyes, the rest of the group rally to break free of the Scarecrows machinations.

Jorly's mind drifts, intoning a bardic verse, a prophetic requiem that he seems to empathetically feel as a consolation with one of the grimacing Scarecrows.
"While soft winds shook the barley.
While sad I kissed away her tears,
My fond arms 'round her flinging,
The archer's shaft burst on our ears,
From out the wildwood ringing, -
An arrow pierced my true love's side,
In life's young spring so early,
And on my breast in blood she died
While soft winds shook the barley!
I bore her to the wildwood screen,
And many a summer blossom
I placed with branches thick and green
Above her gore-stain'd bosom:-
I wept and kissed her pale, pale cheek,
Then rushed o'er vale and far lea,
My vengeance on the foe to wreak,
While soft winds shook the barley!
But blood for blood without remorse,
I've ta'en at Oulart Hollow
And placed my true love's clay-cold corpse
Where I full soon will follow;
And round her grave I wander drear,
Noon, night and morning early,
With breaking heart whene'er I hear
The wind that shakes the barley!"
He remains oblivious to dangers flooding around him, caught in a mesmerizing hold that grips fast his volition to move.

"Move, move!" Perseverance Hake commands, grabbing the ranger by the scruff of his collar and marching him off roughly towards a vacant cabin. Dougal does not fight the manhandling, shuffling and tripping over his feet as he is pulled away from under a Scarecrow's gaze. He is still wrapped up in his thoughts however, not lucid and still not free of the Strawman's mental grasp.
The Scarecrow gaze acts as a Charm effect causing a 'fascination' and Hold Person type restraining. While a creature description indicates a Scarecrow being slain nullifies the Charm effect, it also says 'if the Scarecrow leaves the area' then the Charmee is released. However I am adjudicating that while 'they' remain on the hamlet fringe with 'line of sight' into the settlement, their area of control is still active even if the Charmed victim is no longer in direct view, but notwithstanding the fact that a Hold Person spell effect has a limited duration, nine rounds for a 5th level / 5HD spell caster. So whilst remaining in direct view might root a victim in place for an indeterminate time, breaking the eye contact diminishes the fascination over the proceeding rounds, per the Hold Person spell duration.

Hope that makes sense. ie: Dougal and others will 'come to' in nine rounds unless other ways to dispel the effect are used.
Moriartus goes on the front foot, invoking his own visual fascination with a number of clone Mirrored Images. Two-Birds, Ben & Jake back him up, leaving Fydmar to 'fireman's lift' Raven off his feet and cart him over his shoulder to follow after the cleric. Ash Gnolem grabs Lenore lest the Familiar Cat is driven off into the forest dangers.

Plague Rats: swarming: [1d20]=18[1d20]=18[1d20]=2[1d20]=5[1d20]=18[1d20]=5

A number of festering, drooling rodents rush squeaking from the cornfield to swarm iver the mesmerized monk. They nip and bite, tearing his flesh and clothing, -3hp but in his trance state, his bloody wounds do not rouse him to proper consciousness.

Moriartus faces down a frowning fiend,

Scarecrows gaze vs Mori, MI1 or MI2 [1d3]=3

who seems to follow the phasing motions of one of his summoned images, trying to snare the phantasm with its Charming eye contact. Advantage then to the mage.

Actions Moriartus vs Scarecrow
and Hake to other actions please.

Jorly, Raven & Dougal still currently under the afflictions.

Feywild: Village of the Damned.

Dufr retreats from the occupied cabin, crossing the hamlet to a neighboring cabin. He can creep up to a window, wiping away the grime and look inside before intruding. This second habited cabin also has a resident still in place, an older man, grizzled from age and years of farming labour. He stirs a cooking pot and seems to ladle servings of the contents into some milk churns that rest upon a table.

Dalin restrained by his boot caught in the splintered plank remains still, not moving lest he giveaway his predicament. The woman, comes to investigate the earlier crash, she sees the hole in the rickety verandah decking but not the invisible cause. She listens then lifts her eyes as on the edge of the hamlet, orange flames erupt in the midst of the cornfield.

Perseverance Hake leaves the befuddled ranger and mage in the care of Amphoebe. With Froed, the two rush towards Jorly as the monk is still entranced by the Scarecrow gaze and swarmed over by several rats.

Plague Rats: swarming: [1d20]=12[1d20]=3[1d20]=4[1d20]=19[1d20]=6[1d20]=19

The Monk, oblivious to the tearing teeth, -3hp

Actions for Hake please.

In the field, Moriartai phase in and out in shifting mirrored images, each one invoking a fan of burning flame that spurts a stream of fire towards a grimacing Scarecrow. It bursts into flame, -4hp and immolates in a sudden eruption of dry tinder and straw. It tries to grab the mage with a chilling touch but succeeds only in shattering an image.

Scarecrows glance: Mori, M1, M2 [1d3]=3[1d3]=3 touch [1d3]=2 [1d20]=15 [1d8]=7

Two other straw menaces blink in from their watch-posts to try and capture the mage in a mesmerizing gaze, but each only locks eyes upon a reflected clone.

Ben n Jake: battleaxes: [1d20+1]=6+1=7[1d8+1]=8+1=9 [1d20+1]=6+1=7[1d8+1]=2+1=3Two-Birds: Quarterstaff [1d20+1]=11+1=12[2d4]=5[1d20+1]=2+1=3[2d4]=4

None of the mercenaries can strike a blow. However the damage is done as the flaming host sets fire to neighbouring stalks of corn and in thick clouds of smoke and bursts of raging fiery tongues, the field begins to burn!

Fire damage to Scarecrows: [2d6]=9 & [1d6]=3

You cannot stay in melee lest you burn also. Moriartus retreats from the burning crop field, the Scarecrows disappear within the flames, the rodent swarm scatter. Those afflicted feel themselves come to. (Raven, Dougal, Jorly)

In the hamlet, the harassed women begins to ring a loud bell, panicked and alarmed by the sight of the field set aflame.

Actions everyone please.

Jorly is confused for a moment as the idyllic scene before him is quickly replaced by fire and ash! He takes a step back to get his bearings and the others making haste immediately registers as to what needs to happen now - run!

He double times it right alongside the others!
