Andronichishche
Realizing he has only seconds to wholly exit the vault, something still felt off about the entire situation and him being as dexterous as an ogre, he didn't relish the thought of being caught halfway outside ...
He's dodged death numerous times since arriving on the island. The fear of death has no power over him.
So, he stands, and he waits.

Theo turns on his heels and dashes for the hallway while he's still in the flesh?. "Don't leave me now," he mentally says to himself-- hoping that he won't soon be in the great gig in the sky and saying instead "wish you were here."

Is Maag still around somewhere?
Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Maag
Maag presumes he's safely outside the vault. He waits with a coil of rope in his hand. If anyone is desperately lunging for the exit but looking like they might not make it, he throws them a lifeline and pulls hard on it.
Sorry. Thought I'd posted a "Maag stands there and doesn't do much" a couple of days ago."

The Ethereal Job
Greed is #3
The Dark Rock
Feanol grabs ahold of a decorative wooden staff just before she comes to the realization that something is dreadfully wrong inside the vault. She rushes back towards the entrance and runs directly into Theo, also attempting to flee before he fades from existence. They nearly knock each other over trying to escape, but the much stronger Theo just makes it through the doorway with an arm full of miscellaneous items from the vault.
Alordan and Torbath warn the others to get out, but don't get involved with the rescue mission themselves. Torbath starts going through the treasure he dumped on the floor, glad to see it is still quite solid and real. A silver tork lights up in his hands with a pretty halo thanks to his magical detection.
Maag spots two things that really disturb his normal sensibilities. The first is the frail Feanol, suddenly being knocked aside during her attempt to escape. As she is about to fade away completely, the thick thug reaches inside to grab the thin elf, easily pulling her outside with one strong arm, likely saving her from disappearing with the rest of the contents inside.
The second thing Maag sees, he can do nothing about. Everyone in the group looks on in horror as their normally wise alienesque leader stays put right where he was in the vault, defiant, and showing no signs of fear or concern. Along with all the remaining contents of the vault, including the thick gold walls themselves, Andron simply vanishes from sight. What is left behind can only be described as a black void where the vault once stood. The walls, ceiling, and floor, along with everything left inside, are no longer present where they once were. The silent blackness left behind gives the group no indication where their fortune and their friend have gone.
The two gnomes stare into the emptiness left behind with blank expressions on their scrunched faces. "What the hells just happened?"

"Mighty magic just happened. I guess Andron decided to ride it out and see if he could figure it out. Thanks for the hand Maag." Turning to Torbath "If your detect magic is still running can you hit this?" She says holding out the staff she retrieved.

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Theo is stunned at seeing Andron choose to just simply disappear. He can only guess that the man of prayers and spells chose to test some personal theory about the Floyd. He believes that Andron still lives-- somewhere. But if he will ever return to this plane of existence... that remains to be seen.
Speaking of which... how are the remaining friends to leave this place and return to the tavern of portals? The young human ranger with the large ears, large wide nose, and weak chin covered by spare gingery beards turns to the gnomes. Err... I suppose that was the wealth "beyond your wildest dreams" we were told of? We got a lot of it, enough at least. So are we done here? Is it time to travel back to the tavern? He takes another look at the black void where living Andron and the ashes of his fellow ranger Alordan had been just seconds ago.

Maag looks at the void and frowns. Then he turns to the others and says "Yer know, 'e is pretty smart, even for a pointy 'ead. 'e 'as probably got a plan for dis. When we woz out on der island wiv der minotaurs an' der killer trees, 'e even managed to wander round on 'is own wivvout gettin' killed. 'e will probably be alright".
After a few moments thought, Maag cocks his head to one side. "On der other 'and, everybody's luck runs out sometime..."
He shrugs. "I reckon dat we poke around 'ere for a while. See if der is a way to bring der vault back. Or if Andron can send us a signal from where 'e 'as ended up." Maag walks cautiously forward, looking for a tripwire, or hidden buttons or levers.

Torbath
Torbath will use the last of his Detect Magic to see what magical stuff we got out of the room and let the group know. When that is finished he will look for the controls that granted access in the first place and will see how they are set now.

Alordan listens with a distant look to his eyes as Andron fades quietly into oblivion. "What do you mean 'what happened'? This was your little mission - don't you know? How do we find what happened to him?"

The Dark Rock
Looking over the staff that Feanol holds, Torbath is able to tell that it too is magical before his detection spell wanes.
Grimble peers up at Alordan with an angry look. "This was it. This was the place we were looking for. And now its gone. I warned you all not to touch anything, and that idiot woman grabbed the gem that started this contingency chain." He looks to his even more angry looking brother Grumble who says nothing, instead rushing into the dark void in the stone where the vault once was. He moves around inside looking for anything left while Maag checks the area over too, finding the same amount of noting.
"Gone. It was right here, right in front of us, and now its all gone again. Along with your friend. Why would he remain inside when you all fled..........unless........"
Though 3 chests in total were pulled from the vault before the remainder faded, along with an armful of other items, both gnomes suddenly look furious that the majority of the haul they had been searching for had simply vanished.
"Where do you think the rest went?" Grimble continues. "If the protections on this vault were so powerful they could disintegrate a person, and then make the rest of this stuff simply teleport away to.....Glittergold knows where, what makes any of you think we can find it again?"
Grumble seems to becoming more and more angry as he stomps around the area where the treasure used to be, throwing his little arms up in disgust over and over.

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Alordan can't argue with the fact that grabbing the big gem wasn't probably a good idea. "Okay, listen. Let's take a breath here and think about this. That's what Andron would have meant to say. That stuff didn't just disintegrate - the Wizard Tribe would never have done that to their own stuff. I wouldn't, would you? Maybe this was just a safe place they stored all their crap but since, well, it wasn't safe today they pulled it back... and Andron was pulled back to them right along with it!"

Feanol
"I agree that Andron may have suspected riding the teleport might take him to the true heart of the matter. But, now we are faced with a problem." Looking at the two gnomes. "You hired us and held back crucial information, that has led to this place and time. So now its time to tell all, so we can find a way out of it as you two seem unable to do anything but cast your failures on others. The lore that revealed this chamber to us, may take us to where it went, but we need the full story now." With that she crosses her arms and gives a hard stare at the two gnomes.

"Der is no point in shoutin' about stuff", says Maag. "We will just end up standin' ere in ten minutes wiv nuthin' solved".
"Maybe it is sumfin' simple. When we came in 'ere der first time, der was a star pattern.
Den when we came back, it 'ad changed to der controls. Maybe it just resets each time. Wot if we just leave an' come back? It might show up once a day or sumfin' "
