Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Xale investigates the end of the tunnel. The dwarf does notice something odd—there's a thin vein of sedimentary stone running vertically through the igneous rock. That doesn't make sense. And what's a very poor-quality quartz of all things doing over here? He presses the quartz, and the end of the tunnel slides open along the sedimentary seam.

"Well found, dwarf!" says Elsa the half-orc to Xale. She readies sword and shield for what may lie beyond.

Eduardo is impressed. He was sure they'd have to go back to the big room and try something else. He also readies his weapon and walks up nearer the door.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Xale returns to the hall of spheres and reports what he found. You return to your original marching order and crawl through the tunnel to the secret door.
You see what is obviously some form of chapel. There are scenes of normal life painted on the walls, but the people have rotting flesh, skeletal hands, worms eating them, etc. Yet there are also depicted various religious symbols of good alignment!

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex says to Mason, "I hate to keep asking you to put yourself in danger, but it seems prudent to have you examine the room for traps before any of the rest of us move into it. We can tie a rope off to just you and let you check it out and pull you back if something happens? Are you up for it?"
Abrex thinks to himself that he should have checked the local thieves guild for a pay as you go rogue. Snickering to himself at the thought.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
If Mason does decide to examine the room, Abrex will have to step into the room to let him past. The tunnel is only wide enough for one at a time.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
OOC - Is the tunnel exit at floor level or high up on the wall?"
Abrex looks back and notices Mason can't get by and says, "I can go first, but I won't move around too much in the room. Let's both tie off before we move in. I won't move until you say the room is clear ok?"

The tunnel exit is at floor level.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex tells lucky in his backpack, "If anything happens duck back down into the backpack. Everyone just hang tight until Mason gets a chance to look the room over."
Abrex crouches and steps out into the room just enough to slide to his left into the corner. Once Mason is out he slides back into the tunnel and waits for Mason to clear the room.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Does Mason have a light source?
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
OOC - Abrex gave Elsa and Eduardo continual light coins so far. Abrex is using his Continual light headband which should illuminate most if not all the room I think.
IC - Abrex says, "Mason if you need a light source, here take this coin with Continual light on it."
Abrex prays there is nothing weird in the room. Be ok, be ok, be ok, be ok as if he is trying to will it to be ok.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
"Of course I will, and thanks for the light." Mason enters the room and takes his time searching for traps. He's looking mostly for any triggers or catches that might cause problems.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Abrex steps into the room just long enough to let Mason past, then crawls back into the cramped tunnel.
Mason accepts Abrex's light stone and enters the chapel. On the floor, he sees a mosaic path similar to the one in the first great hall. The path leads to an opalescent blue altar. On either side of the path, great wooden pews face the worship area. A 4' high wooden railing divides the room. South of it is the altar. Behind the altar a raised dais recedes into shadows beyond the reach of Mason's borrowed light stone. A pair of tall brass candelabra with five lit white candles in each dimly illuminate two large white pottery urns in the far corners of the room.
What will Mason investigate first?
I'll need to know what Mason plans to check for traps and how he plans to get there. In general, characters can only check objects for traps, not entire rooms. A similar rule applies to searching: the more specific your search, the more specific the results.Status: Abrex (R9/MU11): 103/103, Ula: 20/20, Lucky: 4/4 ; Eduardo (F10): 84/84; Mason (Mk10): 35/56; Elsa (F10): 58/58; Malibran (C10): 64/68; Zoster (F9/D12): 75/76, Ulla: 12/12; Xale (F8/C8): 54/54; Worren (C9/MU11): 53/53; Malvexa (F0): 6/6

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Mason will look for floor traps and triggers as he walks up to the front row of pews.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Will you walk along the mosaic path, or take a different route?

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Malibran will enter the room and move out of the way to the wall on the right. Once everyone is moving (or done moving) he can ready a find traps spell on this new location.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Elsa the Fair will step in and to her right, on the mosaic floor, sword ready.
Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Mason carefully follows the mosaic pattern, checking for floor traps and triggers on the way. He finds none and triggers none, reaching the front row of pews safely. Eduardo and Abrex exit the tunnel to make room for Elsa and Malibran to take postitions to the right of the exit, along the wall by the mosaic path.
With Mason’s light now illuminating the entire room, you see an nicely carved and padded chair on the dais behind the altar. On the west wall of the room, just beyond the railing, a human skeleton in black chain mail points to an archway filled with vividly glowing orange mists.

Re: Ch. 3: Back into the Tomb
Malibran will advance along the wall another ~20feet and cast find traps to cover (as best he can) the altar, chair, and surrounding area.
