Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Theo's life decides that it's time to start passing before his eyes again. He he gets to the part where when he had first arrived on the now very far away island. And he found the remains of a party of dead adventurers. One of whom had an orange stone that he put in his belt pouch, never learned what it really was, and continually forgot about. Then, he moves onto the even less appetizing encounter with the giant swarm of biting insects flying over the rotting marsh, and the rank hut of the dung-eating Eldar giant toad-like thing with a speaking face near its backside. The rocky mountainous place, which was pleasant enough (despite the stern and bossy steel golem nurses, until the strange steel ship inside a cavern inside a mountain exploded....

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Theo's life resumes flashing before his eyes at a fast past. The day he was awarded the beautiful glowing bastard sword by his friends in the Eldar's retch-inducing hut. Sure, nobody else much wanted to handle the thing which had required surgical removal by an Unseen Servant from the things backside. Still, no one had disputed his claiming of the magic item. Which, from the stories told by the old veterans around the campfires in ranger school, used to be quite a squabbling thing. It could disrupt things among certain party members for weeks of Friday or Saturday night gatherings for missions briefings and deployment-- for eternity.
Moving on, he saw older ranger Alodorn, brave Amun who tried and dropped along the way, faithful friend to all Tlachga and his god or goddess closing his wounds, mighty and mirthful Maag, and wise half-elf party leader Androniche, sadly later bodily transformed to Aliendon. And Torbath. Who valiantly risked all to pull his boots and head also out of the fire. The tunnel of light is approaching, So long, so long, good friends! The stars, our destinations!

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
At some point in the future.........
Alordan, Torbath, Feanol, Maag, and Theo all feel themselves being pulled away from their current locations, as if floating away on some kind of weird cloud.
Surrounded by a shroud of swirling pink mist, they get a feeling of peace and tranquility as they float around in the nothingness. A sudden feeling comes over the fallen that can only be compared to as a comfortable numbness.
Soft music can be heard playing in their minds, but from where it originates, they do not know.
Something about a....... a bike?

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
This will start after Andron has time to pray for fresh cleric spells.
The Ethereal Job
A Basket, A Bell That Rings
The Dark Rock
As the music flows around them, Theo, Maag, and Alordan eventually awaken from their strange trip through the pink mist to find themselves in a familiar place, with their grey alien friend healing the worst of their wounds.
Though it takes a while to recognize it, they arise in the safety of their magic cabin. Apparently, here in the floyd, the magical abode looks a whole lot different. The music is constant and unable to alter in volume, though it is soft and easy to listen to. The functionality of the cabin seems normal, but the decor and design has changed, the interior now bathed in an array of misty pinkish hues. The door and windows have changed in shape and size as well, tinted a darker color now and shaped like a teardrop.
Also inside the cabin is a very unsettled looking Amun, who greets each of you as you arise. "The short arse there says we need to sit in here for 6 more days!"
Grimble shakes his head at the comment, his concentration often focused on his brother Grumble, who is currently encased in a strange see through rubbery membrane of some kind. Grimble pokes and prods at the material, as if testing its integrity often.
Feanol and Torbath are there as well, though both lie unconscious, remaining in their psychedelic beds.
Alordan looks around hazily inside his magic abode, seeing the ceiling area starting to revert back into cube form. He wonders how long they have been unconscious for, knowing time does not work the same here inside the Ethereal Plane. He finds it a bit startling how even simple magic works differently in this alien place.

"Aside from the different decor of your hut in the Floyd, Amun was able to kill the last monster. The hut is abutting the tunnel, so we should be safe here from the others, for now. Torbath and Feanol's wounds were quite severe, and Feanol very nearly died."
"You've been unconscious for over twelve hours. The hut hasn't reverted back to a cube yet either, obviously. It may be due to how time flows differently in the Floyd. The hut certainly took much longer to form on this plane, though."
"Mr. Grimble was able to actually skip us ahead the twelve hours." He says this with a slight intonation that suggests while he accepts the phenomenon, but is still baffled and amazed by the effect.
"As Amun said, we missed our window of opportunity to return to the Ethereal Market. The next window arrives in 6 days. We still have that starry portal to investigate, but our immediate concerns are the remaining monsters and their eggs. If they hatch, we could be swarmed by them."

As Maag and Theo try to find their voices, Alordan and Andron discuss what happened......and what they should do next.
Grimble looks up at the slowly dissipating cabin ceiling with a concerned look, while Amun grabs a torch and some oil, ready to take care of the remaining eggs in this chamber at least. "If those ugly bugs haven't hatched already!"

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
Is there any windows that can be opened in the cabin or just the front door?

Re: Quest #44 "The Ethereal Job"
As pointed out, the cabin looks a lot different than normal, and is slowly reverting back into cube form.
The window at the back, facing the main tunnel, doesn't open. The windows on both sides that normally open, are pinched in between the tunnel walls, making them unusable.
So yes, the front door appears to be the only openable option at the moment.

Alordan observes, "We need to do something, no doubt, but we are in no shape to face this things head on...."
He observes the cabin changing as they watch it. "Well, I suppose at the least I can man the door, quickly open it, while someone readies an arrow to fire or oil or something if needed?"

"Amun is right. The door exits into the cave we were fighting in. There are host bodies we need to burn along with their implanted eggs." He moves to the rear window, checking for any Xills in the tunnel. "I think Feanol also discovered their weakness. It looks like she was burning one of the bodies and one of those monsters apparently threw itself onto the fire in an attempt to smother it. We may be able to try a similar approach with the others."

That was actually Feanol's idea, but ya, it's a good one.
They do indeed seem to protect their eggs at any cost, even their own lives.
