Gull's Landing
Re: Gull's Landing
Mave
At the sight of Athan, Morwen and Liviel, Mave stops dead in her tracks, her jaw slightly agape. She had no choice but to continue her ruse for the benefit of her brothers, so still a bit in shock, she runs to Athan and throws her arms around him exclaiming, "Athan my love!" Planting a passionate kiss on his lips, she then holds him tightly as she whispers in his ear, "Please play along and I will explain."

Athanasius Brownstone
Athan returned his friend's hug, truly happy for finding her here. But he was completely caught by surprise when she kissed him - he felt himself blushing tremendously, but eventually managed to shake the stupor away.
"Huh what... What is going on Mave?" - he asked, trying to divert the attention from the whole thing - "Where are you rushing to?"

Re: Gull's Landing
Erel and Garet both look Athan over almost as if sizing up an opponent on the list. Garet puts his hand to his beard as if contemplating a particularly hard problem, "So you are the rogue who has stolen my sister's heart." Erel merely shrugs and states plainly, "There are people in trouble and no time for a discussion right now. Later on certainly, but not now." And with that the elder brother takes off once more, quickly followed by Garet.
Wilwarin hears the three bolts fly past them and immediately goes into a protective stance shielding Mediphera and De'Athyra. She cries out in elven that they are under attack and tries to make herself the bigger target as she contemplates her next move.
From her point below, Niserie likely can hear the sounds of battle and certainly Wilwarin's cry.

Hearing her allies and her Charge above in trouble, Nis creeps back carefully as she readies her bow; firing at the first threat to her sisters.

Mave
A bit embarrassed herself at the unexpected development, Mave blurts out in almost a run on sentence, "Wilwarin may be in trouble and we are hurrying to offer help, if needed. Please come along if you can." Then softer to Athan, "I will explain when we have less ears about."

"Lead the way then" - the man nodded grimly at Mave - "We will follow" - he added, looking back at Morwen and Liviel, then leading Folly away.

“Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides.” ~ André Malraux
Morwen looks at Athan and then at the ground, "I had no idea you and Mave were so close." Liviel her mouth agape says, "If they were any closer she would have been behind him." Mave and her brothers Garet and Erel however, hear none of this as they rush to the scrivener's. Liviel says, "Lets follow them! Wilwarin may need us!" And then Athan's two companions start after them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Niserie crept back through the trapdoor, it's cover shielding her ascent from the three brigands. Nocking an arrow and dextrously placing one foot on the lip of the opening for balance, she looses her arrow striking the nearest of the rogues sending him staggering back in surprise.
Mediphera steps in front of De'Athyra as she intones in a calm voice raising one slim finger and pointing to the rogue in the middle, "Golden slumbers kiss your eyes, Smiles awake you when you rise; Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry, And I will sing a lullaby." The rogue's eyes close even as he stands and his crossbow clatters to the floor. He then also falls beside the bow and begins to snore loudly.
Wilwarin flies at the last standing rogue like a spear thrown by unseen hands. But this rogue appears more skilled than his brothers and dodges aside dropping his bow and drawing a slim blade which he slashes across her right shoulder drawing a thin line of blood.
The injured rogue drops his bow and flees to the room he originally emerged from.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thena calls upon Tempus and he answers, Rover cleaving into the leering ogre's flesh and he squeals like a stuck pig as it cuts deep into his side. The ogre manages a feeble attack in answer but his god is not listening it seems. His companion fares no better his attack missing as Thena presses her attack on his brother.
The heavily accented voice hiding in the darkness calls out, "I've sealed the passage. We must kill them or die here!"
Bryne had fought many foes in her days, but out in the open primarily not in the seedy basements and through she tries to strike the large ogre before, she unfortunately is unable to connect with the injured creature. But her deft movements, even missing a boot, allow her to evade the ogre's attack.
The drooler makes one more thrust with his hooked spear into the ceiling of the passage and more debris clatters around Torvik, but he was a warrior birthed in the forge of underground fighting so he ignored the wood, rock and mortar falling upon him and he moved past that spear and emerged covered in dust looking like a revenant rising from its tomb seeking revenge. And revenge and destruction was what he delivered as his sword tore into the drooling aberration mixing the thing's blood with the dust anointing his face with a crimson mask. The thing uttered one hideous scream as it collapsed spilling its innards onto the stone floor before Torvik.
Kade called out, "Commander, I can't get through the passage now. I'll try and dig it out as best as I can."
Somewhere in the darkness of the room the heavily accented male voice begins to speak words in a language none in the room understand.

Torvik calls back to Kade "Be careful." and he tries to locate the strange voice speaking unsure of if it is friend or foe. He keeps his sword ready but does not attack unless he finds the source and can easily tell if it means him harm. If it does appear to mean harm to him he will try and attack.

Athan wanted to explain, but now was not the moment nor the time, so he pressed onward, picking up Mave as he went along and offering her a ride in Folly - "We'll get there faster"Revenant wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 6:04 pm “Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides.” ~ André Malraux

Mave climbs up behind Athan onto Folly. As they ride she explains, "My parents were trying to enforce a marriage arranged long ago and I lied and told them I was already betrothed to you, not thinking you would show up here. Now I'm in a pickle because of that lie. Any ideas on how to extricate myself?"

The knight is unable to keep from smiling - "Mave..." - he shook his head - "You can count on me, but I am sure we can reason with your parents, no?"

Re: Gull's Landing
"It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled." ~ Mark Twain
The look in Mave's eyes at the mention of her family told Athan all he needed to know about reasoning with them. But rather than continue that discussion now he urged Folly onward especially since he heard both Misty and Sunspot riding closely behind sparing them a glance he saw Erel riding behind Morwen and Garet behind Liviel, the latter two having an animated conversation about how to best maneuver a riding horse through the cobblestone streets. After several minutes the trio is joined by two of the mounted guards of the city waved on by Erel. Luckily those on the streets this time of night were pretty sparse so the now five riders reach the scrivener's relatively quickly. Just in time to see a dark-clad figure running from the abandoned building next to the scribe's.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nis gets off one more shot that slams into a wooden beam beside the fleeing rogue and he is gone into the next and from her sight. Mediphera says something to De'Athyra in Vagary and the girl stays close and behind the elder witch shielding her from attacks.
Wilwarin quickly recovers from the slight attack and strikes out at the sole remaining rogue slicing through his cloak and ripping it from his shoulders. The rogue must have had enough because he then runs for the exit and out into the street directly in front of the five riders as they arrive.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The injured ogre growls as Bryne misses with her sword, but plunges the dagger home, but delivering a minor cut to the creature. He tries to attack the nimble ranger but she easily evades his slovenly attack.
Thena moves between the leering ogre and his brother in arms to stand between the voice in the darkened part of the room and strikes out at the leering one but unfortunately Tempus does not guide Rover this time and she misses the hulking beast. He makes a feeble return attack but she has put the fear of god into him and the attack is half-hearted at best and he merely gets in the way and causes his brother to also miss his attack against the crusader.
Torvik moves further into the room and his keen eyesight makes out the slim form of the man speaking in the strange tongue. He is dressed in dark clothing and his skin is near as black as the darkness that surrounds him. Before Torvik can react, he stops his incantation and three glowing bolts appear beside him. The man sends all three at Bryne each bolt hitting her and inflicting damage. Seeing now the threat before him Torvik brings his sword to bear and strikes out at the mage who cries out in pain. His face a mask of fury now focused on Torvik, he begins to speak the arcane tongue again.

Re: Gull's Landing
Hold that rogue! He's attacking women! Nis calls out to the riders in the night before recognizing at least her recent dinner companions.
Mave! Wilwayaisawen is here and safe, but I fear Thena and Lady Bryne are in trouble! Ogres and others are assailing them just beyond! She points to the building she thinks the passage would lead to. A hidden tunnel has cut us off from this side, but it must come out there! We may be sble to dig through here, but if there is another way around it will be much faster!
====
thought is that the now collapsed passage either leads to another building or the other side of this building. She is trying to send others around to find a separate entrance to where the ogres are while Torvik and Kade hopefully can excavate enough to get through

At Nis' words, the young knight is spurred into action, and steers Folly to overrun the fleeing rogue - "Stand down! You cannot outrun us!" - he shouts.
