Qleceec will look around the outside area of the circle and try to determine direction of coming and going.
"Not yet, but I am working on trying to."

In the Jotens - Half-Ring of Stones
Starday, 15th day of Planting, 597
10th day since leaving Loftwick
Qleceec (AC 1, HP 53/63)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 54/65, Armor 26/26)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 53/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 47/48)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 46/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 25/27, Armor 8/8)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8)
Boff (AC 5, HP 58/61)
Frannie (AC 4, HP 26/26)
The group of adventures checks out the half-circle of stones. There are seven stone total in the half-circle.
Raffi tries find traps, but is unsuccessful in finding any - hopefully that is the good kind of unsuccessful.
Siouxsie wonders if the rocks themselves are dwarves, but if the dwarves were turned to stone it would a taken a powerful Druid's Stone Shape to erase all the dwarven features from the stones.
Nah Olos joins the examination of the stones and notices that on the eastern side of the stones they are smoother and there are crips & cracks on the western sides of the rocks. Perhaps the rocks have been used as cover during an attack or two.
Garrant suggests to Rex to determine the numbers and direction. Rex studies the tracks for some time and notes that there was about 10 dwarves but they tried to hide their numbers by marching single file. Her best reading of the tracks is that they travelled both directions. They marched from the east to the rocks, had lunch and marched back the way they came.

"I think they came from the east and returned that way."
Is the town we are heading to in one of these directions?
Clarified direction.

Re: Chapter 1: Journey through the Jotens
Clarification. The dwarves marched from the east made a U-turn and headed back in the same direction. And yes, Silver Springs is to the east the direction you are all heading.

"Seems likely they were a patrol of some sort as they came from the direction of Silver Springs and went back the same way."

Siouxsie
Looks around. No sign of dwarves or dangers.
Shall we keep moving to the settlement.

In the Jotens - Dusk

10th day since leaving Loftwick

Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8)
Boff (AC 5, HP 58/61)
Frannie (AC 4, HP 26/26)
The party continues to push, one foot in front of the other. By the groups own calculations there was a strong hope that they would be arriving near the end of the day, but it could be early tomorrow. Obviously the calculations from Loftwick were dependent on the group having horses. As the sun begins to set the group pushes harder hoping to find this small dwarven mining town. Dusk begins to set-in and the light is harder to come by. There is a decision to make - keep marching into the darkness or camp for the night. As the group pauses for a moment to discuss and come up with a course of action, the ground begins to shake, first a slow wave, once, twice and then like a whip there is a snap and the ground trembles.
Everyone please make a easy (3d6) DEX Roll or lose your balance.
The snap is followed by a loud crash that starts about 10-12 seconds after the snap and continues for 5-7 more seconds. The bang and crash sounds came from the east (the direction you are travelling).
Is that a sign or just a coincidence?
Actions?

Androgst also rides the wave of the ground. He frowns at not knowing what could be out there making that noise. An attack? An effect of nature? "I don't like not knowing, but we are tired from the trek. Continue and search or camp and wait til light?"

Re: Chapter 1: Journey through the Jotens
Nah Olos looks to the east as if to penetrate the darkness and distance. "There's the source of the earthquakes, but is it mining or something sinister?"

As the earth stops its shaking for the moment Garrant loses his balance and got down to one knee catching himself at that point. He is able to stand back up with little fanfare.
Nah Olos bolds staring into the darkness says "There's the source of the earthquakes, but is it mining or something sinister?"
Androgost wonders on cause of the earthquake - perhaps nature or an attack of some kind? He re-asks the question the group had stopped to answer "Continue and search or camp and wait til light?"

Re: Chapter 1: Journey through the Jotens
Nah Olos "Given the earthquake, i say press on, at least for a bit, but i can't speak for those of you who can't see in the dark. I don't think we should light torches." He rests his hand on the scabbarded hilt of his sword.

Re: Chapter 1: Journey through the Jotens
Hex nods at the ranger. Agreed. Besides, most of the dangerous things out here have infravision anyway. We should either move on with light or stay and rest until the morrow.
