Re: Law of the Gun OOC
William knees his horse a bit to the left of the group, but on line with them to make sure he has a clear field of fire. Not much he can do about the temp of the gun, though he does make a mental note to rig up something for the future. He's riding like the devil's on his tail. Does someone have a glass to see if he's gaining?

Sorry for the long delay, and with no notice. Just back from a trip to my daughter's college graduation. I meant to post along the way, but misjudged a few things. First, this particular 21-year-old would think to inform us about the times and places of various events, inform of us any changes, that they even existed, or she and her friends add new one on the fly. Second, I didn't foresee how slow and crazy college-town Boston traffic can be on graduation month weekend.

Sounds like a missed saving throw.jemmus wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 1:08 am Sorry for the long delay, and with no notice. Just back from a trip to my daughter's college graduation. Re: Law of the Gun OOC
Sorry, my absence was work related. I work as a civilian contractor in a prison teaching forklift & MHE skills to offenders before they are released. Recently my company suffered some staff loss after one was embroiled in a prisoner conflict. So I had to cover his teaching shifts plus my other contracts, which has meant 10 or even 13 hour days each week plus trying to find another tutor who can instruct.
It will be like this at least another week until a colleague can step up.

Good luck Bluetongue.
Re: Law of the Gun OOC
Per the rules, Sebastian and William each get 1 Stature point for killing a man. A cowboy and a rustler, respectively.

So much for Doos ever getting another stature point.

You could start killing a lot of men. Killing men in BH is like finding GPs in D&D 1e. "Bad Johnny Doos, the shootin' judge."
Or bring notorious outlaws to justice. There are a plenty of those around.

Point added. The downside to just killing a lot of folks is someone(s) decides you are a mad dog who needs to be put down, or that you killed their cousin and need to be put down, or that they'd gain a rep if they put you down. At least if almost every western I ever watched is accurate! (Stature point added)
Re: Law of the Gun OOC
From my reading, it seems like it kind of went both ways for famous gunfighters. People might gun for them (and shoot them in the back), just for the notoriety of being the one who killed them. But they could also clear a room full of men just by saying a word. Once a gunfighter was known by name, the Eastern newspapers would follow him and make a character with an ongoing story out of him to sell newspapers. The writers exaggerated things and hammed it up, and sometime just made up fiction. Wild Bill Hickock let them do that, and he add to the fiction himself. "Mr. Hickock, is it true you've killed 90 men?" "Nah. It's 93."

That, of course, is the upside.
And then there's dry gulchers who write the story making themselves the hero.
Gives Pat Garrett the side-eye

I hope everyone's ok with Doos actions.
He is on a redemption trail after losing his wife and child.
He wants to be sure everyone in Texas gets a fair shake.
After talking privately with the fishermen, he will want to take the girl on a stroll and speak to her privately.
Gm, did you expect this?
