Having stashed his companion in the safest place he could find Klaus moved to get a view of the inbound attackers.

Cautiously he takes up a firing position on the troops streaming across the taxiways.

Bracing himself in a prone stance he flips the rifle to full auto and positions replacement magazines ready to hand.

Frank assesses the situation and changes location to join first squad

He sends an priority message on the command channel:

"This is Cross. First squad is pinned down in the lift and taking critical fire. We need an assist ASAP."

He switches his rifle to grenade launcher, locates a target in the centre of the enemy unit and fires off a HE grenade.

Voss - Gaugin's team in the Gatehouse...can a fire-team be detached from there to catch these attackers from that side?

And then she gets her team to get the drones to take a look in other directions...most of our guys are concentrating on the tactical disaster on the open flight deck. A second wave incoming now would find almost everywhere else (except the gate) uncovered.

Jess uses her unit comm channel: 'Arry, Mike, with me. Charlie, grab some anti-armour while you're at it, an' quick about it, the Boss an' First Squad are in trouble.

Jess takes the people she has on hand and makes best speed to join the fight.

Jess is relying on Freya to put her in a position to engage the rear or flank of the force engaging the rest of SEMC. Perhaps Charlie and Kingy can be directed to arrive from a different location, for more FUD?

OOC: While there are possibilities to emerge from various places on the Flight Deck (see OOC for Prerna's options) the apparent need for immediate intervention up top limits the available options to available time.

Jess therefore has the following choices/routes:
1. Use the personnel lift which delivers passengers to the Flight Deck just a few meters west of the craft elevator. Those riding the lift platform up could go prone facing the known nearest threat (east) by way of generating themselves some cover (unless they can hotwire a lift like Kit).
2. Use the stairs (in combination with the co-located personnel lift) to emerge on the Flight Deck via a hatch adjacent to the personnel lift platform. This would allow one shooter to emerge in cover with the hatch effectively making a "Tobruk" defensive position with only head and shoulders exposed

NB Charlie and King are still unarmoured and therefore not (really) available for a firefight topside.

Voss - Designate Charlie and King in the Armoury with Freddy and I. We can be the Colonel's Reserve - or the Armoury Guard as you see fit.

Jess - If you want to get topside quick, take the main vehicle lift...preferably in something armoured from the vehicles parked by the hanger entrance. Some extra firepower would help up there.

Kit orders his unit to open up with maximum impact and keep that crouch down to maximize the cover (I was hoping for 75%)

Given the math (on the other list). Kit will fire a HEAP grenade trying to take out the other sides leader or biggest gun if I cannot tell whom the leader is.

Flight Deck Firefight Round 2

All
The hostile airborne forces close in and regardless of losses seek to use the sledgehammer aggression of overwhelming firepower to force the issue and win access to the hangar below.

Frank slips an HE grenade into his underslung launcher and fires it at the on coming pro infantry. Alas, the round misses not only the guy he aimed at but also the guy he could have hit! While the frag effect no doubt hits about half the fireteam the only noticeable effect is one attacker taking a "ding" to the head.

Klaus, knowing that nothing wins a firefight like sustained firepower, opens fire with his issue ACR selecting a mag of DS rounds and full auto. He hits an advancing Para with three bursts and sees rounds penetrate his CES armoured right leg and "wing" his left arm but the already wounded enemy comes on undaunted.

Prerna finds that the SAW is ready to rock n' roll. She selects an already wounded para slogging forward and starts the music. She's not sure whether she ever fully penetrates her target's armour but when the SAW's can runs dry she sees his armour running with blood as he pitches forward onto his knees and then his face and lies still.

Able stirs as First Squad return fire. He drags himself up to deck height blindly firing over the parapet urging "Go on First Squad! Fekkin' give 'em it!" Dog and Ink blaze away both getting hits. Ink cooly asks "You OK, hijo?" Dog returns "Leakin' - fek they're 'ard to stop". Ink slams in another mag and getting a lucky leg hit that drops her target declares "Stopped!" Killer and Johnny both put full mags on target but the Paras' armour is too good for their DS rounds. Route One peppers his target but the tough para keeps coming. Nuts recovers his aim at the para who launched a grenade at him "You fekkin' saucey canute - gertcha!" The PGMP's bolt of plasma hits the para centre mass - it doesn't stop.

The squad of Avastan(?) Paras continue to fire and maneuver throwing down a torrent of accurate automatic fire. The Para engaged by Klaus fires back but his aim is "off" and he only hits Klaus once. Credit for center mass but that's where the armour is - and it worked. In the Merc "firepit" that is the sunken lift Dog takes a hit and as he collapses mutters " 's awright Inky - the armour stopped it... fek..." Switching onto the Command channel Ink calls "DFSOS my pos - all you got". Another Para staggers forwards but due to his wounds he can't bring his AK to bear accurately. An unwounded Para crests the lift/firepit and hoses rounds into Killer who staggers backwards under the delivered kinetic energy but then bewilderedly turns in his pincushioned armour to Johnny to relate "Ruddy 'ell - I'm alive!" As he does so a RAM grenade passes through the space where his head would have been. Johnny can but comment "You fekkin' lucky barsteward!"

She fiddles with the controls, trying to work out the emergency stop function before it’s too late: Either of you know how to stop this thing?

Going prone 'Arry artlessly replies " 'S awright Ma'am - it stops on its own when it gets to the top".

Jess is formulating a truly blistering reply when the deck plates above her retract and the crack of ricochets and the odd tearing sound of rounds in flight focusses her mind on the immediacy of the firefight.

It doesn't really help that Sugar now chooses this particular moment to inform her in nervous sotto voce "Ma'am - the Zhodani. They've got... robots".

However, the nagging doubt caused by her squad continually informing her of the bleedin' obvious has to be put aside in favour of matters of musketry.

(OOC: Rolls duly noted - might get another round in tonight! :) ).

OOC: If you've checked the rolls luck was hardly on your side - in fact it was AWOL! :P

Frank can now see the appeal of the Automatic Grenade Launcher. Clues are in the name but autofire bonus and grenades! :twisted: However, the ammo weighs a lot and, after blatting it all off in one spectacular "moment", there's little to do except embarrassed thumb twiddling...

Horses, courses, swings, roundabouts! :)

Target preference noted - Frank may yet wreak his revenge tonight! 8-)

Jess is formulating a truly blistering reply when the deck plates above her retract and the crack of ricochets and the odd tearing sound of rounds in flight focusses her mind on the immediacy of the firefight.
