OOC Chatter
Re: OOC Chatter
Agreed. It is one thing if we just met but that isn't the case.
Re: OOC Chatter
That's cool, and I do appreciate it.
Re: OOC Chatter
I really like both the rules and setting of Hyperborea, but if it overdoes something it is the chaos thing is over played a bit much.

Re: OOC Chatter
Tracks in the Desert crew - I think the most well liked option for resting here is in area 2 between the gate and the pit. Short of trying to clear out the areas next to 10 - which feels risky short handed, I don't see a better option.
Re: OOC Chatter
Agreed, none are good options but between the gates and pit seems the best option.

Camping under an open sky between locked gates and a large open pit filled with scorpions or snakes. Just where do we run to when trouble comes?
I don't see what the problem is taking over the old slave quarters? They slept there themselves and it is more defensible.
Unless you want to open more doors or go below to defeat those clerics before they replenish their spells and launch a counter attack.
I mean, that would be a practical option if the freed slave looked after the unconscious (though that means we would have to post lots of actions so as updates don't stretch out and those with unconscious characters don't have to wait many real life days to join back in).

Re: OOC Chatter
This is how I see it.
6 total characters.
2 are out and we need to carry them with us or leave them for dead. Xenos and Snorri
2 are almost out. Drest is at 3 hp and Cyril is at 4 hp. Neither are fighters so they don't have good odds of hitting and don't do much damage and they both have poor AC. Cyril has 1 spell available and it isn't a healing spell (it is cause fear, which may help but can only buy us time).
1 is poisoned and -4 to hit and damage. Akhilleus, easily the best fighter standing but his penalties make him significantly weaker than normal. He still has a decent 19hp.
1 who is doing all right. Valkrina. But she is not a fighter and has a poor AC. I think she has FF left but not sure. She has decent hp at 16.
Going on the offensive seems insane to me. Half of the characters standing are 1 hit away from going down or even dying outright. Drest will not abandon Xenos as he has saved Drest's life before and so has no reason to abandon Snorri either.
The advantage of area 2 is that the doors are most likely barrable from the inside and anything that can make it through them would take us out if we are in #2 or the slave area if it/they are hostile. The pit is cleared as of right now (Drest cleared it already) so offers an obstacle to anyone coming that direction and we can at least use missile weapons (thrown stones in some of our cases) and once they are around it try to push them into it. In a dire emergency we could try hiding in it.
Drest doesn't see the slave area as being as defensible but if that is what the majority want he will agree to it as he sees either as highly risky. Making it through the night will mostly be up to luck from his stand point. He will not agree to going on the offensive even if it means he watches over Xenos and Snorri alone.
Maybe we will get lucky by the doors in area 10 and we can hide there.

Ghoul Mode activated!
OM, just a quick question: I didn't see Maxon's spell book listed in the papers we found with him. Cormag has no use for it, but it seems like the sort of thing a caster character would want to get their hands on, or something for later sale/barter.

Yes!
Except for his ripped up armor, everything on his sheet is still salvageable, including his spellbook.
It only contains 2 spells, but it is still valuable.
You folks might as well eat his rations too, while you're at it.

Re: OOC Chatter
Rex that might have been your longer post ever
For me it's area 2. We bar the door, in case of real trouble, that can only come from the other side, cwe unbar it and flee.
In area 5 the trouble can come from the corridor, from the kitchen and from the ceiling, which is where we came through.
Area 10: we don't know what's in those rooms are we're in very bad condition to go and see. We don't know if we have a way out.
For me it's room 2 all the way.

LOL, probably not but it is close. My HarnMaster game has some long posts in it but I am the DM. I hope it didn't come across the wrong way, I was just trying to get the points as I see it across.
Re: OOC Chatter
You weren't the only one.

Maxon's book contains:
Burning Hands
Sleep
Both of which are Magician spells.
Learning them can be attempted by any sorcerer, as long as it is a spell on their class list.
guess i'd missed it

Belloc will try and learn Burning hands, sleep is already in his spell book
is there a roll or just time?

Re: OOC Chatter
Sorry folks!
I have been slammed for time at work lately and currently in the middle of a 3 day blizzard I need to dig out of every few hours.
I will try to get some updates in here soon, but it might take me a day or two to play catch-up.

Re: OOC Chatter
Snorri is still doing exactly as his name suggests

Re: OOC Chatter
Drest is about to join him, and it might be a much deeper sleep.
