As already mentioned elsewhere, I will be leaving soon for our annual Fall vacation to the Caribbean.

I will try to keep up as best I can with this game, but I don't know how good our internet service will be at a few places, so if I am away from the game for a few days, you will know why.

That places a short bow at 30gp plus 2g 3s for each quiver of 12 arrows

Light crossbow at 22g 5s plus 2g 3s for each quarrel of 20 bolts.

Gives us a heads-up when working out what to buy. Let's make sure Dest isn't doing any bargaining or the price will go up

We're going to need at least half gallon of water each per day, at least, which is a waterskin. We can't assume we will find water, so need to take it with us. A waterskin is 1.5 gp.

Iron rations are 3gp a week per person.

A weeks rations each = 3 x 6 = 18gp.
4 water skins each = 4 x 6 x 1.5 = 36 gp

36 + 18 = 54gp

We might be able to negotiate the prices down due to the amount we are buying. That gives us a max of 2 days there and 2 back. Hopefully we can find out more about how far we need to travel.

That leaves us with 22 gp, 6 sp and 2 cp.

Not enough for a bow and arrows but enough for a spear.

Who can/wants to use a spear?

The warrior types better use their preferred weapons, so they can bring all their advantages to the combat.

Xenos is specialised in his scimitar. It would be nice if he could get a new shield, but it's not the most important thing.

Cyril does not need to pay for the powers of his patron in mere gold and silver. In other words, just rations and water for Cyril. The priest class is somewhat limited in all things martial. Still though, we should get other dungeoneering gear. Cyril only has 3 torches and a tinderbox. At the least it would be good to have rope, prybar, hammer, stakes, etc.

Do we really need a week of rations? Where are we going? Should one week's worth of rations is enough to feed the party for one day. So take two day's worth. We can hunt for the rest or come back to the city?

I don't mind tallying up a typical Expedition Pack shopping trip. We can split the weight between us: (marked up at +50% book price).

30 Tallow Candles ( 9sp)
1 Hooded Lantern (10gp, 5sp)
12 flasks of lantern oil (18sp)
1 10'ft pole (what expedition goes without one!) (5sp)
1 50'ft hemp rope, small hammer, piton spikes. (2gp, 4sp)
12 firebrand torches (7sp)
6 large leather sacks (double as sleeping mat, swag bag or body bag) (27sp)

Food extras (Biscuits, sugar, salt, eggs, cereals) (15sp).

Wooden flute and Celtic panpipes (1gp)

1 x Sling and pouch of bullet stones. (3gp)
1 x Short Spear. (6gp)

Total rounded up to 32gp (to include getting my hair done in town as well).

I can cover all of this myself as long as this kitty fund is returned to me. Each person can take a sack with the following goods:

Leather sack, 1 set of first aid bandages, 5 candles, two flasks of oil, two firebrand torches.

Someone can volunteer to take:

A) Trap finding 10'ft pole.
B) 50'ft hemp Rope with hammer and pitons
C) A sling and pouch of bullet stones.
D) A short throwing spear
E) A lantern.

I don't think we can rely on decent hunting in the desert, particularly without bows or other ranged weapons. I agree we can cut the rations to 4 days per person, 24 days, so we could say 3 weeks worth, so 9gp, saving 9gp, leaving 31gp in the kitty. We could get a crossbow, or rely on slings for a cheaper option.

It has been mentioned leaving immediately, but I think we should get a decent night's sleep (in a room), a decent breakfast, and us spellcasters need to recover our magic.

EDIT: I may have misread the whole leaving today thing, so ignore the last paragraph.

She will also share her stuff with whatever the group needs.

Drest has 2 waterskins, a weeks rations, and 6 torches on his sheet. He lost his bow, quiver, arrows, and rope on the last adventure.

That's a good point.

Are you happy we use those rations as a group? That would mean that we only need to spend 6gp on two weeks worth.

I'll also assume that everyone has one waterskin, unless I hear otherwise. That means we would only need (3 x 6) - 1 = 18 - 1 = 17 x 1.5 = 25.5gp

So that's only 31.5 gp on food and water. That leaves us 45gp, much more healthy.

I am fine sharing rations. Water is going to be the bigger issue I think.

Yeah, a gallon each a day is pushing it.

We could get a donkey or mule for 30gp, but they would need water too.

Maybe we can get hints as to where and how far from someone in the bazaar.
