Re: The Oasis
Kang was intent to sit cross-legged and listen to the others until he felt he felt the moment was right.
"We should use creature's weaknesses and our strengths against it. It lurks in water, unseen until it strikes. Its thicker hide is like armor on top and sides and so the belly is unprotected. Perhaps can have the people here join their fishing nets into bigger one, place it on shallow bank. Stake a kid or goat across net. When comes for bait, roll it within net and attack its soft belly. Maybe use burning oil as well. You have metal weapons. It can be killed. Do this when net is done."

Re: The Oasis
Akhilleus studies the crude drawing and tugs his black pointed beard like a savant would do. "Strange. Never heard of it."
He then listens attentively to Xenos' explanation and then hears the ideas thrown by him and Kang.
"Well. Let's try to lure it out of the water and do that.
A pity we don't have spears or even a lance. We're in the same situation as back in that strange labyrinth."

"I have half a dozen javelin's. We could share them out for an initial volley or try attaching them to poles for make-shift spears, but I don't think they'd last very long."

Mud Hole
The Oasis
5:05pm, Windy, Dusty, Dry
The musky brothers both turn to Tuurma, responding simultaneously, “yes”. Despite some really good suggestions from Kang, all they do is shrug their broad shoulders when asked about thick nets, ropes, or spears, having very little to offer as useful materials. They don’t even understand the concept of owning livestock, so they certainly can’t offer a goat as bait. Though, there are a few children scattered around, and you already know the beast has a taste for them.
Yuka ushers you back outside the shack to give you a quick tour of the nearby mud hole they call an oasis. Though it is clearly still used by the slaves to gather their drinking water and to collect a few scarce food sources, the murky water reeks horribly and is obviously contaminated.
They show you 2 spots where they have seen the monster outside the water where you discover wide slide marks in the mud and massive clawed, webbed footprints pressed deep into the wet muck.
Yuka points to the open muddy bank at the top of the slide marks. “Sun come, worm here.”
Actions?

"Crocs do like to warm themselves in the sun. The hide and other parts can be worth gold if in good condition, particularly if it's of a giant size. I suggest we prepare as best we can tonight and catch it in the sun tomorrow."

"Sounds good, I will take a couple of javelins if you don't mind."
I took kid to mean baby goat but I could be wrong. LOL

They have no nets, no livestock to use as bait. If we wait another day I can go into the city and buy a kid and nets from the docks.

"I'm not sure delaying is a good idea, but if we do then you also need to get us food and water. We have none and I don't want to take what little these people have, or drink the filthy water."

"I don't want to wait for another day either, but luring it away from the water does seem like a very good strategy. We'd be chanceless in the waters if anyone of us would be dragged down. Also, with an animal in its jaws, we might buy ourself precious time until it can bite us. Then again, I'm amost out of coin. Do you think iron rations will do? There's some jerky."

Valkrina
"One of us can be bait." she says then starts "Eeney Meeny Miney Mo" pointing at each in a circle.
"Or we could cut straws.", she takes a few from the floor, cutting ends and matching several with a short one hidden in her fingers.
we could have a d20 roll off with lowest being bait croc fodder.

Re: The Oasis
Akhilleus
"I was thinking about using someone as bait since the beginning. No food here and no time to go back for some." He doesn't say anything else and reaches for a straw, looking at the evening sky and whispering something in his native Hellenic.
Croc bait? [1d20]=6
He draws the shortest straw so far. His only reaction a stoic sigh.

The Oasis
5:15pm, Windy, Dusty, Dry
The dusky skinned brothers listen to the many suggestions in vain, shaking their square heads and shrugging broad shoulders often. They initially appear fascinated by Valkrina’s straw choosing game, growing somewhat confused by its abrupt and unproductive ending with no clear winner or loser.
As if they were anticipating one of you asking, they spread out with a good 20 feet distance in between them. They seem almost surprised, maybe even disappointed when none of you inquires about the actual size the beast.
Yutu says the word “head”, while Yuka exclaims “tail”.
The monster does not show itself as you look around it’s new lair, but you get a creepy sense that you are all being watched.
Actions?
At 5:15pm, you still have a couple of hours time to return to Xambaala to purchase supplies before darkness sets in, if you have enough coin.
