The G Carrier offers "I reckon she'll still fly but slowly and she needs a mechanic. I could make it over the berm lip, collect up the POWS and sit on them for you sir".

Able reports "We're good to go, sir, back in the fight".

Presuming Kit's agreement to herding the POWs into the care of the redundant Carrier pilot all of his squad are now re-assembled and ready to redeploy.

While Kit marshals his troops Erica East tears herself away from some personal time with Prerna to tend his wounds. Her ministrations are successful and with his wounds dressed and already healing he is in much less discomfort.

[NB Two LWs treated (two levels of success) so -2 DM removed. You still have the wounds another LW would put you back on full -ve DMs but you are "fixed" for now].

(OOC: Medic Roll 2d6 + 3: (4 + 3) + 3 = 10 Success! (Twice) :) )

OOC: The sudden outbreak of fire from their destination (the pens being the sheds / loading bays) interrupted the plan! He and Ink then used the POWs as "sandbags" for an improvised defence when they were stranded out on the tarmac.

So Route One was still on message - just suffered a delay in mission. ;)

Once the POWs are contained and he is able to gather Able, Whiskey, Dog, Nuts, Ink and Route One, he will let the command channel know "If you have a table for 7 we are ready to be seated again."

Those in the Deliverance Berm / HQ

The two remaining Aslan approach the northern API earthworks from the west circling clockwise around the berm. They both move at a steady walk. Reloading their weapons on the move with fresh magazines from the female Aslan's grav cart. The API trenches are already under mortar fire and also taking pinning fire from the SEMC positions above them. As soon as they see the Avastan infantry positions the Aslan break into a loping jog and open fire into the suppressed trenches. Nearest to the crest the Aslan with the 15mm “assault rifle” pours aimed automatic fire into the rear support trench as he advances. Within 100m from the westernmost frontline trench the other Aslan halts and braces his exoskeletal battle-suit into a firing position. To a distant observer it then seems that a two metre tongue of flame leaps forth from the rotary weapon together with the distinctive sound of arboreal husbandry. As the walls and floor of the whole trench erupt into powdered snow and pummelled dust it seems that every API soldier in the trench is hit at least once. Every vestige of military discipline ablates away in the face of this overwhelming volume of fire. The shrewd or merely fortunate scramble over the dead, dying and wounded to make it to the east end of the trench and try to escape. The Aslan roars and advances driving the survivors towards the second fire trench.

On the berm's rim the female Aslan runs along the patrol path at the top wearing her holographic first aid flag. Initially cursed by the Collace infantry that she hurdles on route she soon gets cheered for recklessly drawing fire. She benefits from an increasing volume of fire support from mercs outraged by API shooting at a “medic”. Reaching the trapdoor above the pillbox and she pulls a sandbag from the low wall protecting it and puts it near the hatch. Then, still operating with one arm, she drags a heavy “bag” from her grav trolley and, with a slice of a plasma cutter to open the hatch, primes and pushes the bag within. She manages to slam the hatch and get the sandbag partially over it before she goes still.

Something growls within the pillbox and this grows into a flaming roar as screaming burning figures run from the defences pursued by the questing tongues of fire which now leap from every doorway and embrasure in the two storey structure.

Below the burning pillbox the Aslan assaulting the support trench drops his rifle, draws his great axe and with one great leap hurls himself into the trench.

It is now apparent to anyone observing that the berm's northern trenches are now very much “contested” and any remaining API infantry within surely have their thoughts vividly and entirely focussed on personal survival and very little else.

HQ Appears to be a small group of infantry with MANPADS and/or LAW plus a missile launcher, comms guy and a few riflemen.
API self propelled artillery is the artillery symbol (white dot) These are large calibre mortars on unarmoured grav platforms.
API "armour" is lettered A-E (see below)
A Tank destroyers (3) ~120mm main armament with a roof mounted remote firing auto cannon.
B Six wheeled AFVs (3) with a turret mounted auto cannon

Frank (relayed via command channel)

Frank takes time to plot the various emergent threats comprising the API counter attack.

He notes a flight of two enclosed grav APCs exit the starport and move towards the berms. As the first breaks cover from the “building line” bordering the runway it is immolated by a strike from the Kforuzeng corsair's starboard triple laser turret. The burning bits of vehicle carcass cascade across the tarmac carried onwards by their remaining forward momentum. The other vehicle ducks back into cover. Someone on “Raersthog/Revenge” tags it as a threat and pings that warning to SEMC HQ via tight beam. (The Raersthog is on pad "A" but not marked on this map).

Meanwhile from the nose of the corsair twin autocannon turrets fire continuously due west while the starboard laser battery rakes the API defenders on the north of the berm.

He sees the Vargr crew are prosecuting their assault on their berm with some vigour and enthusiasm. They are backed up by fully armoured individual Vargr with high tech weapons and grav belts. He sees a number of curious and highly dangerous looking “Grav Platforms” take the air. One appears to have been “improved” by the addition of multiple multiple rocket launch pods from which it torrents unguided munitions into the API trenches. Following in its wake is another from which dangles a crew of Vargr “engineers” suspended on abseil ropes. All have buff vacc suits, wear bulky power packs and carry what looks like heavy duty industrial cutting gear. The platform drops down inside the berm.

From the drone feeds Frank sees that the advancing API infantry (ten man) squads have a RPG launcher each that might be a short range hazard to the SEMC IFVs. He notes that what might be the infantry battalion HQ as the small group of infantry with MANPADS and/or LAW plus a "proper" missile launcher, comms guy and a few riflemen set up on the roof of the admin block (HQ on map).

He sees that API has brought out the Regimental assets that support the sole infantry battalion.

Unit A consists of three tracked tank destroyers with an estimated 100 to 120mm main armament with autocannon mounted on the roof in a remote mount. Unit B is three wheeled AFVs with turreted auto cannon. Unit C (currently in reserve behind the admin block) is an odd mix of tracked vehicles: two tanks with ~120mm main armament, one armoured AA system with target acquisition radar and a pair of 20mm cannon, one armoured missile launcher system, one less identifiable APC variant. Unit D racing forward between the berms is a pair of mid tech open topped grav sleds which mount (what must be AT/direct support) missile racks and HMGs. Unit E seems to be a “scratch” unit of star port security and patrol vehicles: two ground cars each mounting a support weapon grenade launcher and HMG and two armoured cars each mounting a light cannon. API's Regimental self propelled artillery is large calibre mortars on unarmoured grav platforms that have rolled out of their ortillery proof "pens" to fire.

He muses that while there's a lot of kit there at least it's not as much as there would have been if Erica hadn't managed to draw an identical lump of infantry (1-3) off into the mountains!

(OOC: NB The positions marked on the map should be considered more as "where the enemy will be" rather than where they are now. All is, of course, a thing in motion.

Florence, Keep the top drone where it is over the runway. We can see units "C" and "Z" really well.

Mr Garrison, we have a good camera image of the APC of unit "Z". Pop a missile and drop it on that APC from over the building it thinks are giving it cover. The warhead should kill it and do nasty things to any nearby infantry.

Ms Vitt. We are hitting "Z"'s APC with an anti-ship missile. We will follow it up with barrel bombs and a VRF Gauss Gun. Would you be so kind as to pick up any pieces thereafter?

Freddy...Please be ready to drop barrel bombs after a fast move followed by supplying VRF fire from the door-gun. We will go on you confirming you are secured.

Freya please roll To Hit with your Missile

Pressure free here due to the superior guidance/targeting systems on your MCr missile (don't tell the unit accountant!) I'm not sure you can actually miss - save for the dreaded "snake eyes". Gunnery, Ship Tactics/Tactics as +ve DMs.

You have Initiative and (with 10 and 12) Two "points of advantage" to use or drop down to subordinate units. I'm trying this to mitigate the disconnect between imperfect / non real time mapping and not being able to see figures on a table top. Opportunities to use these rather ephemeral beasts should come to light within the narrative or they can be simply taken as "re-rolls" to reflect efficient planning, staff work and communication avoiding negative outcomes.

Nice! So not only success but the additional levels give Four points of advantage. See above for these but bid for their use. For example a high energy weapon is automatically spotted when firing (and, as a high threat, inevitably draws a torrent of return fire). One "advantage" could be spent to make this subject to normal spotting chances. The "reality" here could be finding a drain/gutter to shoot through. Granting an entire unit cover could be the result of clearing packed snow to reveal a sizeable "kerb" about the berm's top, etc.

Yes indeed! :)

So, success again and Three "advantages" for the sniper squad (e.g. cover (halves incoming hits), concealment (making you difficult to spot/acquire as targets) and a combat re-roll would be but one way these could be used).

NB Mitigating (re-rolling) KIA damage/wounds would be another option thereby using the "tactical advantage" as "life insurance".

Quite right Recon-0 lets you make the roll as if skilled but adds no advantage.
