Erica moves to get a clear shot while the Tech Guy hastily crouches down as soon as he sees he's in her line of fire. Prerna and Solonik open fire. His wild burst misses Erica (and the hapless Tech Guy) while Prerna makes no such mistake and puts a burst of armour piercing sabots into his broad chest.

With a bellow of rage Solonik now turns on Kit and raises his AK again but the merc officer already has his ACR at the aim and puts a close range burst through Solonik's guts. It seems that this new trauma finally catches up with him and the white haired giant pitches forwards and onto his face emptying his AK into the tarmac as he falls. Additional bursts from Erica and Prerna put the chances of any further action from him as out of the question whilst confirming his status as "very dead".

Able directs the fire of his team from atop the Hawkwind on the tactical channel "Pour it on lads! Can't 'ave 'em shootin' the officers - it's... it's... unhygienic...".

Freddie, shooting from Deliverance's air lock, interjects with a sigh and "Now, you know it doesn't mean that".

Able retorts "Shut it! Ruddy 'ell someone's chuckin' instant sunshine abaht in there! It's not Beau's crew 'is lot 're in the uvver 'ole!"

Directed by their emerging junior leaders SEMC delivers an impressive volume of accurate automatic fire into the "northern sheds" via the open bay door including a rifle grenade from Freddie (aimed), Freya's accurate shot, rifle fire from Route One and Ink (prone in a low sangar??? halfway to the sheds) and Able's squad with Nuts' PGMP in support.

"Stop wrigglin' or I'll fekkin' cut you! Sorry - me cover's gettin' nervous. Route one sees..." Ink relays what must be tactical signals "One... 'ardshell - KIA, two... local punters... ah... ISS Sec For... KIA - both of 'em's... Wot like me??? Oh, both of 'em is smokin' ... ruddy front on 'im!"

Baker adds "I've got a bad angle from the top of the berm but I see two KIA as per Route One. I spotted energy weapon fire out towards the trader but just one round and then more, at least two weapons, laterally inside the sheds. I'm sure none of that was us".

Not sure what happened to her last shot in the hail of fire that hit the sheds area, she sends her drone to watch the rear exit - just in case someone makes a run for it. She starts looking, from her perch, at the surrounding berm-edge in case of any new profiles emerging as from up there it's like shooting fish in a barrel..

Prerna stops and looks at her arm. "The rest of you, go with the captain and secure that area. Be sure you don't engage any friendlies." She changes to the command channel. "Prerna is returning to the Hawkwind. Myself and at least two others are lightly wounded, so we need a medic here." She turns and trots back to the Hawkwind's open ramp. "Recon Teams, reposition to cover the north approaches to this berm. Expect a general response from regular Avastan military units. Observe and report for the moment."

"Hang back, guys; you're kinda scary. Don't want to intimidate new friends, do we?" Jakob said, ignoring various bits of people dripping from his armor. "Whomever it is made a standing kill shot from a decent distance and kept me from having to explain why I died to the Missus. I'm inclined to be polite."

The Aslan on the berm's crest lies still but the other two brandish their weapons at the IFV. Jess notes the female, distinctive from above in her flattened cone "battle bowler" helmet, as she gathers her gear and grav trolly from the stranded G Carrier. She stows her rifle and illuminates a (very modest) Trokh "Aid" rune hologram before making her way uphill towards the collapsed Aslan. On the way she pauses to despatch any still moving API casualties with her gauss pistol.

Heads up. API’s feelin’ brave again. There’s a counter attack forming up, and we’re the ones to break it up. I’m patching you in to the feed. Get into a berm, out of LOS, and be ready to pop up, shoot and scoot. Have a plan to relocate immediately in visual cover and repeat the manoeuvre.

Jess briefs the IFV commanders as to her plan and deployment of the IFVs in "Squadron" action. Even with the aid of the battle computer and advanced comms it takes a number of minutes - which fortunately the enemy provide.

The IFVs report they are briefed and hull down in the east side of Viper's Nest berm [D5] (Kit's ride) and the Deliverance berm [D4] (Prerna's ride) while Jess' IFV(PD) hovers protectively in front of Gaughan's G carrier.

Dialling up and focussing the rear view in a fraction of her IFV's command screen she determines that the Rangers appear anything but intimidated by the news of a potentially overwhelming counter attack. Indeed, they appear collectively "restive" if not ever so slightly... "garrity". She can see Gaughan standing right at the front of the crew compartment between the two (unauthorised) .50s. He's armed with a non issue LAG-10. He's a big lad - the rifle's almost "to scale".

OK - Put one over the North runway about in the middle - and one over the South over the 2 of 27. South one just under the clouds so you can duck if you have to. Keep the north one low and moving.

Florence - Any sign of increased electronics from anywhere else - if this counter-attack is one arm of a pincer, I'd like to know.

Colonel, in the mean time, we have electronic fixes on the vehicles. Lets drop some rounds on them while they are still loading up. Air-burst if you can.

Voss has ensured the coordination of other units with Gaughan's planned move (which included an exasperating comm call with the Aslan).

He offers an update "Sir, the Aslan state they are moving to enfilade the northern API positions on their berm. The presence of invaders on their land apparently irks them no end. 4DC are out of comm contact due to performing atmospheric re-entry. While not exactly predictable and though the drop may be subject to some "scatter" their arrival must be imminent".
