With that, Tech Guy gets shot in the knee...His moving is suddenly much slower. It seems his premonition was accurate!
Tozjabr Freya muses aloud.

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Jakob moved forward, grabbed the detonator, and took control of the space around the warhead. He moved his fingers to the side of the trigger so that a flinch from a stray hit didn't ruin everyone's day.
"He's being brain fried; there's someone else here to worry about. ElectroTeks; trace any signals," Jakob sent over the command channel.
Jakob's action is to own the space around the warhead, using his body and armor to prevent accidental detonation, if necessary.
When he had a moment, Jakob sent the video of Miky to Frank and Liv; they can analyze and decide what to do about the dying statement and method of execution.

Round 1: First 3AP (only AHL Rules) Directed by Sam Peckinpah
Prerna fires at the Sec For officer. She hits him dead centre but he survives the wound. He turns to return a spray of autofire and Prerna feels a round bite into her left forearm as she supports her rifle. She carries on undaunted.

Jakob moves in and takes the detonator from Vladimir Mikhailov's ruined hand. It would appear that his thumb and several fingers have been dislocated.
It's at this point that Mikhailov grunts and just goes uncharacteristically quiet. As the Avastan Secretary drops to the ground Jakob's own left leg nearly give out beneath him while he also takes what feels like a punch to the gut. Dust kicks up off the tarmac around him and he hears the whine as a hard round ricochets off something metallic. A Note on AP
Those who took aimed fire Prerna, Erica, Freya have used their 6AP for this round.
I will allow other stationary actions and talk is, of course, cheap.
Edit: No clues but Freya could direct Freddie's (reserved) actions
However, only those who used snapshots (@ 3AP) or other actions have AP remaining (Kit and Jakob).
Both can therefore move and/or complete other tasks or snapshoot in the last half of the current round.
DMs To Hit will be:
for Kit (-2 Snapshot, -2 LWs) for Total -4
for Jakob (-2 Snapshot, -1 LW) for Total -3
both will gets +ve DMs as usual for autofire +2 with ACR, Dex +2 with ACR plus Rifle Skill
It might be a comfort that the opposition are at least as shot up as you!

Continues firing with the hopes of taking down his opponent, but does not quite get off as good a shot.
Rifle Shot [_2d6+3]=(1+4)=5+3=8 (Rifle-2, A DEX)
If I am reading this right this is a 5 + 2 (for skill) + 2 (for DEX) + 2 (for Autofire) - 2 (Snapshot) - 2 (LWs) = 7

Freya
That sec-for officer seems to be a pain - but there are too many bodies in the way and behind to shoot without the possibility of hitting our own.
Freddy - I think there is a Zhodani Tozjabr psi team here. That take down looked like their work. Any sign of anyone unexpected?
and working on the basis that they may be able to cloud peoples perceptions she isn't too sanguine of their spotting the obvious
Meanwhile she uses her drone optics to look into the dark of the hanger space - and back under her own ship just in case that is where they have brazenly slipped.
Recalling her Scout's Ops Training...
Whoever took that guy out isn't going to be good for much fancy stuff but that doesn't mean he hasn't got friends - so keep a good watch out.
And looking him over
Did someone wing you? I'll bet your pretty-boys will make a fuss over that!

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Jakob's mind caught up quickly; time was short and risk was high. His wounds would just keep getting worse. He wasn't sure what game was being played, but a major enemy piece needed to be take off the board. If there are psis around, the trigger didn't really matter, the warhead had to be totally inoperative.
"Henker, we're taking heavy fire from nearby; use my sensors, track them down, and fry them from a distance if you can," Jakob said over the command channel as he turned his back to the enemy and focused on the warhead. He grinned and took a breath; he's been shot before and he has the perfect naughty nurse to bring him back to health. Wounds don't matter, the mission does. He comm'd Liv directly. "Sweetheart, watch my input and help me out. The plan is simple; I still have two shaped charges that I never got to use, and someone may be able to set this off remotely. Even mechanically, and you know what that means. Officers here have psi shields, not everyone does. I have a few seconds to either remove a critical part of the ignition system and destroy it, or to use the shaped charge to destroy the thing in place."
Wounds don't matter. Jakob pushed his will to drown out his pain. Wounds don't matter.
I'm assuming Liv offers suggestions. If a piece can be removed then Jakob will do so. He will take the piece, attach the shaped charge, put it on the deck, put Miky on top of it, and then put himself on top of that before setting off the charge. Miky's armor, front and back, may give him a little extra protection. If the piece cannot be removed then Jakob will attached the shaped charge, set the timer, and push the grav plate the thing is on out of the ship and as far away as he can get before it goes off. Either way, he's really gonna need that naughty nurse shortly.
Not counting LW or Liv's help

Hawkeye replies "Colonel, sir, we may have a more immediate strategic issue. I see a number of AFVs mustering on the north side of the port admin building [C6]. Getting a better count but so far three grav gun sleds with autocannon and missile racks and two tracked missile armed AFVs. There are some wheeled light AFVs in the mix. I count three platoon sized thirty man infantry manoeuvre elements with a lot of RPGs. It looks like the garrison's reserve company have got out of bed. They seem to be setting themselves to move south towards your positions. They're not the best organised troops I've seen but someone there seems to at least have a plan. I have a pair of helos coming up the valley from the east but we will neutralise that threat".shaidar wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 12:16 pm He then opens a channel to Hawkeye

Freya and All (via the Command Channel)
Able shouts "Contact! My half left. Small arms fire from the north shed bays. Ground floor".
Freya is ideally placed to see the target spotted by Able and now "marked" by Nuts' PGMP which fires from atop Hawkwind's upper hull together with the rest of Able's fireteam. She first checks back under the Deliverance and confirms that no one lurks there and then moves her drone towards the north shed bays.
On approach she can see two figures in ISS Sec For gear in company with two figures wearing Imperial pattern combat armour. One wears a long coat over his armour and appears to be armed with an energy weapon. All are in cover (including being behind logistic handling vehicles) and are engaging the SEMC team at the foot of Hawkwind's front ramp.

Freya
Taking a quick check on the line of retreat, and switching the armour to the colour of the ship's interior, she picks one of the combat armoured troops and shoots
Whether that's enough to get a hit is questionable given range and cover. n.b. Freya is lying down, using the bipod and sniper's sight although the full-auto mode kind of offsets that!
Did you bring a RAM grenade Freddie? I fear one may be needed!

I'll put a pin in this pending resolution of the end of Round One (Kit and Jakob).
You'll have the option to amend your action as per that result.
Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Frank also ensures a high-priority tactical update data-burst is sent to 4DC and the Vargr (I'm assuming the Aslan have access to our tactical feed, if not they get an update too)
Re: Avastan: Planetfall
All at the Hawkwind
Round 1: Last 3AP (Kit and Jakob actions only AHL Rules) Directed by Paul Verhoeven
Kit brings his ACR back to the aim and blazes at Solonik but his burst goes just wide.
).
Solonik returns fire at Kit but can raise his muzzle only high enough to tear up the runway at the merc officer's feet.
(OOC: To Hit: 2d6 − 2: (3 + 3) − 2 = 4 Miss (+ve Autofire +2 Skill +1 -ve Snapshot -2, Serious Wound -2, Light Wound -1).
Jakob hears Liv reply as the icon in his field of view states she's tapping into his visual feed "Angel's on your shoulder honey". He now sees a schematic of the warhead projected onto his face plate's HUD. "The Sword Worlders are very pragmatic and sensible people. Take that bit out and it won't work". With the aid of the schematic Jakob sees the task is now reduced to basic weapon mechanics. He checks the trigger attachment and architecture of the warhead for any "additions" or "adjustments" that might make his task more exciting than it needs to be and sees none. He sets to work noting that for the next time he does this it would be nice to have not been distractedly shot beforehand.
"Jakob!!!" Liv's cry interrupts him as he raises his eyes to see what she and his armour's tactical feed can see. The ISS Sec For officer turns back towards Jakob and trains his gauss rifle on him. Then the automatic glare filters in Jakob's faceplate prevent serious vision impairment as a miniature sun bursts from the officer's chest at the instant that the man's face plate fogs with pink steam and most of his vital organs incinerate. Heedless of both sets of ballistic plate the "through and through" streaks on past Jakob to burn a scar into the Hawkwind's lowered ramp. The officer's corpse drops to the floor as his webbing starts to burn.
(OOC: To Hit: 2d6 + 4: (6 + 5) + 4 = 15 Hit (+ve Skill +2 Dex +1 Aim +1)
Location: 1d8: 4 = 4 Chest AV 10 Ballistic Plate vs ? = +14 DM on Wound Table
Effect: KIA]).
Summary
No change (nearly) everybody missed
Solonik is still active but shot to pieces (being a marginally worse version of Kit and Jakob
)
The Sec For officer is KIA
Mikhailov is down
OK, everyone's now back in the same "time zone" and all on the Hawkwind ramp can act again.
NB Prerna can retcon her action.
No more from me tonight - I'm off to the pub!
Slacker GM!

Round 1: Last 3AP (Kit and Jakob actions only AHL Rules) Directed by Paul Verhoeven
Kit brings his ACR back to the aim and blazes at Solonik but his burst goes just wide.
(OOC: Quite right - you needed an eight To Hit. A bit of "wear and tear" and snapshooting means even "gods of war" like the PCs can miss!

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Can we get an updated map of Hawkwind's ramp area? Prerna will shoot Solonik if she can do so without risk of hitting a friendly.

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Jakob ignored the rounds coming his way. He put the shaped charge with the removed bit on the deck, stacked Miky and ISSy on top, then himself, and blew the component.
"Fire in the hole!" Jakob yelled, while his mind muttered "Body blender, minus the container."

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Meanwhile, the wounded Aslan crawls up to the berm's crest and detaching his own sashimono extends its butt spike before smashing it into the summit. As the other two recover their longarms and trudge uphill a burst of HMG fire cuts down three API troopers fleeing the burning trench. The big Aslan near the pill box notices the hovering AFVs, bats his forearm and Jess receives a static laden translation "What?"
Jess replies in Trokh: We witness your victory, warrior of the Twilight. As her Bannerman I congratulate you on your success.
Secure this location while I locate your next prey.
"Henker, we're taking heavy fire from nearby; use my sensors, track them down, and fry them from a distance if you can," Jakob said over the command channel as he turned his back to the enemy and focused on the warhead.
Roger
Jess uses the onboard computer to access the relevant sensor feeds and get an overall view of the situation.
I have a pair of helos coming up the valley from the east but we will neutralise that threat".
Jess notices the new threat appear on the Battle Box:Frank
"Thanks for the heads-up, Hawkeye."
Frank ensures combat computer is updated and checks the location of the Sargent-Major and Gaughan.
Now, that’s more my speed.
Noting the locations of the other IFVs Jess opens a channel to them:
Heads up. API’s feelin’ brave again. There’s a counter attack forming up, and we’re the ones to break it up. I’m patching you in to the feed. Get into a berm, out of LOS, and be ready to pop up, shoot and scoot. Have a plan to relocate immediately in visual cover and repeat the manoeuvre.
Re: Avastan: Planetfall
OOC: I have stratagems from Frank and Jess and combat actions from Freya.
That being the case Prerna has a clear LOS to Solonik so I'll take that as her action.
Likewise Kit is in a continuing firefight with Solonik so he could take two more snapshots @ -2 or go for a "Wyatt Earp" aimed shot (no penalty) to end it. Or do something else!
Meanwhile Jakob is doing something seemingly rational that may later be classified as either a war crime, an SEMC "signature deterrent" or "Collace Folk Art" (for Narcos fans).
Just herding the cats here and trying to nail the blancmange more firmly to the wall...
No one's moved so all is as per https://www.unseenservant.us/forum/view ... 41#p609541.
