Richard
Oh, very well then.
Yes, these are magic symbols.
They are telling me that anyone who enters will instantly go up in flames.
Happy now?
Then Richard enters without so much as a second look.

Korin merely shrugs not intending to go inside anyway.

Some of you are in the rhomboid room with strange symbols on the floor - some aren't.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
Korin grumbles and mumbles rolls his eyes and follows the others while still thinking when the bloody hell are we gonna actually leave like we keep saying we are.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
Thorelf takes some time to examine the walls and the floor of the room. There's nothing else here? No furniture or anything? Does the floor look well used or dusty?
"I cannot wrap my head around what this place is supposed to be. Obviously the slavers use it as a lair, and some cults or something used to be here before that, but what's with all these gigantic rooms and the harbour? It's almost like an underground city. This section seems deserted as well. I don't know what you think Korin, but I'm thinking we keep on moving until we find a way out. If there is one!"
For the first time you can notice a trace of worry in Thorelf's voice.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
Richard I just worry that we may not get out in time for afternoon tea and scones, Thorelf.
If there are no other doors leading from this room, Richard exists again to proceed with the search of getting out of this place altogether.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
The hall looks quite empty - no loose items or furnishings. The floor is a bit dusty but it's more like a very thin layer of cakey grunge, what with the humidity from the cavernous lake seeping in and binding the dust.
Thorelf
notices that others have moved through here - there are streaks or footmarks in the grime, leading either towards, or out from, the large 'southwestern' opening of this room.

Thorelf leads the party across the room to peer into the next opening.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
You peer into an octagonal hall with a vaulted ceiling. It looks to be about 50' in diameter, and the ceiling about 40' high.
Against the 'northwestern' wall, on a small platform, stands a statue of a humanoid shape, about 10' tall. Opposite it, on the 'southeastern' side, an ornate stone bridge with railings leads over a stream into a gateway or portal, also patterned. You hear water trickling here and there.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
(see attached pic) The statue that towers over Korin is that of a vampire. Parts of it are chipped and cracked. In its hand, a pitcher, from which a trickle of clear water gently pours down through bars set in the floor below. Some lettering adorns its base. Tiny finds that the (not very stable) rails on the bridge are of made up of lashed bones, with human skulls placed at intervals. The skulls are encrusted with old blobs of candle wax. The portal consists of two wide open gates made out of bones and skulls, and hanging threateningly loose off their hinges.
