Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Luverly! Nice shootin' girls. 'Specially you, Shug. Timin' an' shot placement, spot on. Thanks, Hun.
Jess, a grin fixed on her face, steadily accelerates, bringing the car alongside the pirate saloon and aiming to take position for an attack on the van. She is aware that the van is also likely a pirate vehicle, and is ready to react if it tries to block or side-swipe her.
Right, we're movin' past Billy no-more-mates 'ere, someone end 'is loneliness, eh? An' someone cover the back'v the van, it might open up on us. Driver's wearin' a Vacc suit, likely the back's full'v bad people wiv guns, an' they've seen wot we did, so they'll be ready. Tires first?
A small moment of celebration might be allowed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxUO-mRwR5M

Jakob
At the stairs' top Jakob sees a standard airlock hatch - to all purposes the twin of that on the McClellan trader (which he knows how to operate). The other pair "Victor 2" (Beau & George) declare their sweep complete and send "Light at the top of the ladder. We'll check it out as an entry point to Engineering".
Caxton acknowledges with "Copy that. Tango One's coming your way".
While Jakob covers the door Love sends "Boss wait". He hears a pair of zip ties fasten and after a few moments Love uncharitably adds "Pockets full of cash and condoms. Boss I have a pretty good idea what this little tramp pilots - and it ain't starships. I'm good to go". (Maybe her new handle is Tough Love?)

Frank
"Patch" replies to Frank "Colonel, we have been stationed here acting like the fools that the idiot Imperials believe us to be since before you and the rest of the strike package left Inchin! Only our hunger exceeds our boredom. Storming the starport? Colonel why else do you think the Kforuzeng would be here?" A massive cacophony of howls, barks and growls sounds in the background and Frank deduces he must be "on speaker" to the entire crew. By volume there seems to be a lot of them. Patch continues "So you offer us what is already ours to take? The Kforuzeng will storm and take the easternmost berm and then conclude our business here!" The crowd goes wild.
Meanwhile Charlie's message buffers on the tactical channel. Accepting it Frank hears "Guv'nor, single grav inbound!" On the tac channel Frank hears his junior leader getting set to take charge of his phase of the battle "Troop, stand to! AT target coming up the road. Open top grav. Mike standby on the SAW. Vehicle gunner then any fekker wot falls out - do 'em. 'Arry, Kingy lock out them LAWs and wait for my word - we all go at once. Standby and wait for the word..."
"...and Kingy stop ruddy scratchin'!"
"I fink it's off one of them "friendly girls" over the bridge, Corp".
"Shut it, Kingy!"

Frank
To Patch:
"Excellent, I should've expected nothing less from the Kforuzeng. We'll keep you up to date, and let you know when we plan to start the operation. Cross out."
Back on the road:
Frank uses the scope on his gauss rifle to get a closer look, particularly it's distance, speed, personnel and any obvious armaments.
Command comms "We have incoming open-topped grav, approx distance X, speed Y. Sargent Gaughan, sit-rep."
Original description of the g-carrier does not specify open-topped. How quickly is it going to be within range? It seems that the squad knows what it's doing

Jakob
"Check Studly there for keys, keycards, or whatever. He doesn't need them anymore, and we might," Jakob commed to Love. "I'm going to see if the hatch is open."
Switching to the team channel, Jakob replied to Beau. "Copy that Victor Two. I am doing the same here. Let's go in together if we can."
Jakob readied the anagun so that it would be right at chest height if someone opened the hatch. Then he carefully checked to see if he could open it himself.

The Roadkill Crew
Rearwards Prerna sees a black suburban grav car belting up the freeway to the rear. It has activated emergency response lights concealed within its front glacis plate. Traffic gets out of its way.
Kit sees the driver of the saloon swerve his heavier vehicle at the three striped interceptor. To everyone's surprise Able drives it not only like it's stolen but also like its in a holo game and (somehow) deftly avoids the lunge. He shouts "Cheeky sod! See that - the fekkin' sauce!" After dabbing the brakes he changes down to surge his protesting car back into a firing position.
Jess keeps her position - wary of the van ahead. Her caution is rewarded as the back doors are kicked open to reveal a group of armed pirates within. However, due to her prudent manoeuvres it appears they have had to spring their "surprise" early and therefore fire wildly at their pursuers. One fires an SMG from the hip and, although the burst seems accurate, wherever the small calibre rounds strike her ground car they appear to have no effect. His buddy levels a large bore pistol but a bump in the road sees the boosted round streak away over the big ground car's roof.
A second pair target Kit's smaller car. The first levels a shotgun but his aim is appalling and a cloud of buckshot whistles past Kit's open window. Meanwhile another levels a snub pistol at Kit's car. The boosted round streaks into the front quarter of the compact saloon and explodes. Able immediately responds to the now juddering steering column with an exclamation to Kit "Fekkit! Boss - this ain't good!"
The pirates' look of vengeful glee fades as, despite their fusilade, both pursuing vehicles appear to be still very much in the fight.
Please roll To Hit / state your Actions in response.

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Jakob
Jakob waits until Love is ready and coordinates with Beau who climbs the ladder covered by George. He notes that Beau has removed his helmet to allow him to carry his drawn cutlass in his teeth.
He finds he can readily open the outer iris valve and finds himself faced with its twin about 2 metres away. This is no surprise at all as the Fat Trader design has an air lock here.

Frank
The G carrier moves into effective range. It doesn't seem to be mounting any weapons.
Charlie transmits "Sir, 'ere it comes. What's the word?"
(OOC: Frank is as sure as he can be that (especially with Gaughan's confirmation) the Carrier approaching his position is the one spotted in the city and then briefly lost to sensors on the way back).
If you want to let fly it's 2d6 To Hit, then 1d6, 1d6
You can fire up to five LAW (one from each member of the team at +0 plus Frank who gets +1 for high Dex - just declare how many are in the volley first!
)
Gaughan replies "Sir, we're behind the G Carrier we were trailing before - hanging back as instructed but we're nearing Startown. We'll need to close up to them to put our attack in but they're surely nervous of us so they are".shaidar wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 5:24 pm Frank uses the scope on his gauss rifle to get a closer look, particularly it's distance, speed, personnel and any obvious armaments.

Freya
Waits with Freddy in the tunnel through the berm's wall.
He motions for her to crouch and then kneels to put himself between her and any threat. He speaks softly "Waiting's the worst bit, Ma'am".

"I'm inside the airlock, moving forward. Victor Two, ease forward as long as you can; surprise is our friend," Jakob said on the team channel. Beau knew full well that going slow would give them the win, but reminding everyone, himself included, helped. Once Love was in place, Jakob carefully moved forward to the inner airlock door, tuned in his sensors to listen, and then tried to slowly open it.
Recon roll 6 + 3 (Recon 1, Int C)= 9

"Take the van," Prerna orders. She takes aim and fires a burst into the fleeing vehicle.
"We have law enforcement pursuing us," Prerna reports on the command channel. "Do not engage unless they fire on us."

Over the general comms "Looks like our ride has seen better days. We will need to find another way back."
"Able get us in the direction of the starport. When we have abandon ship, er the taxi we will see what our situation is. Take this side street so the law will have to choose."
I am assuming that I understood the car is dead at this point, if I mis-understood please let me know.

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
The car is certainly "wounded" but you'd not call it entirely "kaput" with the information you currently have at this moment. True enough it may get worse but the only thing you can say with any certainty is that its performance has been degraded. Putting it another way - if it was a plane you'd not bail out yet.
NB Given that the "unsurprise" pirate action pre-empts Kit's rifle shot please feel free to declare an alternate shooting target.

Given that I misunderstood - let me try again
"Able, keep us steady."
Given that there are two gun wielding persons hanging out the back of the van and they threw away the cover when they kicked them open. Kit will try to take a snapshot at each.
Rifle Shot [_2d6+3]=(4+2)=6+3=9 (Rifle-2, A DEX)
Rifle Shot [_2d6+3]=(3+4)=7+3=10 (Rifle-2, A DEX)

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Freya takes one of her bugs, clicks it to the fibre and (from inside the tunnel) throws it about 2m out from the berm entrance (i.e. the way she came in) before returning to Freddie. She plugs the other end of the cable into her suit. Nothing to see, nothing to see she murmurs.
When I was a Scout, I could spend days waiting.
So, what do you want to do when you get out of this life? Is there a special someone or are you still playing the field?

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Frank
Charlie opens with "Signal check. Troop sound off".
When all members have checked in he sends "All troop units. Fire, fire, fire".
The rocket launchers flash and four missiles streak through the night to strike the armoured sides of the G Carrier (a mid tech military model). The detonation of the LAW warheads drives four streams of superplastic molten metal into the G Carrier's armour. Frank and King's missiles penetrate the troop compartment killing six passengers instantly. The vehicle stops dead as its power plant is disabled. For a split second the Carrier hangs in the air before the detonation of Charlie and Harry's missiles rips it apart in a catastrophic explosion that utterly destroys the vehicle with no chance of any survivors.
An awestruck Pte. King transmits "Completely cattle trucked or what?!?"
Charlie adds "Sir, that's a K-Kill. We should scarper... er... exfiltrate, sir".
The gutted remains of the chassis drops onto the roadway and continues to burn.
Gaughan sends over the comm "Ifreann na Fola! Was that you sir? We'll try to push the last of it off the road as we come through. It might at least put the fire out".
(OOC:
To Hit: Four hits.
Pen: Four Major penetrations (Other Rounds - not HE or KEAP)
Result: Two of EPF3C each destroys an Electronic system, disables the power plant, destroys onboard fuel and makes three rolls on the wound table at 2d6+10 vs. the crew. Total six crew KIA.
Two are catastrophic hits destroying the vehicle and killing the crew. K-Kill).
