We can always chop off that mohawk-looking thing that Gnolls have. Make a blanket out of it, keep us warm.
Re: Spell & Tactical Planning Discussions
I think it best to kill them first, otherwise it will get really loud.

Re: Spell & Tactical Planning Discussions
That is something we could do. I wouldn't have thought Gnolls would cry out for others to come to save them.

Re: Spell & Tactical Planning Discussions
it would be funny as hell some woodsmen come upon the scene of a dwarf trying to shave the fur off some tied up gnolls in the forest using his hand axe.

Maybe the dwarf can weave the Gnoll fur into his beard as some grisly trophy?

Egon keeps his beard short, no weaving going on.

Yup, my thoughts exactly. Several has short beards in the movie. Actually for someone who is involved in melee combat it just makes sense.

That doesn't count. That's just a short human with dwarf armor on.GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 1:46 amRiverGreenForest wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 11:39 pm A Dwarf with a short beard? Now, this I have to see!

The first one is how I envision Egon, except with gray hair. Great picture!

I agree, both are good pictures! Sometimes I get tired of the typical Norse Dwarf and would like to see more variety.

Re: Spell & Tactical Planning Discussions
Norse? How about the typical Celtic dwarf?

Re: Spell & Tactical Planning Discussions
Most D&D Dwarves seem to be Norse based, at least in pictures. From a real world mythology stand point Dwarves were very different, more often being mischievous or down right evil. The Dwarves in Norse mythology were mostly black (even referred to as Black Elves) and traded their crafts for deeds, mostly dark or down right evil.

Re: Spell & Tactical Planning Discussions
That gets me a bit confused though because then why do a majority of dwarves and player's playing them have them talking with basically a Scottish or Irish accent? If not that then usually British sounding at times.

Re: Spell & Tactical Planning Discussions
I think Warhammer introduced that. Has nothing to do with mythology. Little people are common in Celtic mythology but none resemble the roleplaying game dwarves, which are much more based on Tolkiens dwarves, which he created by fusing his view of the ancient Hebrew and Old Norse peoples together. Their language is very similar to Hebrew and many of their customs he describes come from them as well, where their choice in weapons, names and warlike traits come from the Old Norse peoples, the only trait he took from mythology was their crafting skills. In fact he even said he renamed them from Dwarf's (correct English) to Dwarves (not a real word in English) to make it clear they were a creation and not based on mythology.
