Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Worren intones the words aperio decipio. The two unopened chests once again gain faint red auras in the vision of the priestly magic user, but no other traps are revealed in the room.

Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Xale will look over the newly discovered passage as well; gazing at it with a Dwarf's eye for stonework traps or indications of it being a possible false door*....
* I.e. using the old Dwarf ability to find stone-work traps/false doors/etc.
* I.e. using the old Dwarf ability to find stone-work traps/false doors/etc.
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
From 7' below, the circular outline shows no signs of traps or falsehood. As far as Xale can tell from where he stands, it should be easy enough to open the door and go through it, if the party could find a way to get to it.

"As you say, there wasn't much of a clue in the tiles about this room it seems so far -- maybe we should stay and work our way through these chests for a possible lead?"

Halbrad, peasant hero
"Ha...in one penny in for one pound. What's the worse that could a-happen? I say we do sort the chests out."

Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Mason will inspect the wall below the door, looking to see if he can climb it. "I might be able to climb up there."
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
The wall looks climbable. Roll a climb walls skill if you want to try.

Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
"Fosco, my boy, can you run your nimble fingers over those chests and get them open safely?"
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Mason looks for some hand holds and tries to scale the wall.
[1d100] = 95 climb walls
thank goodness he's at 99%

Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Mason scales the wall until he reaches the secret door. The door swings open easily when pressed. It appears to be rigged like a spout—anyone coming from the other side of the door would find themselves dumped to the floor 10' below. But on this side, it's easy enough to enter by anyone who can get to it.
Meanwhile, Mailibran and Halbrad return to the topic of the chests. Halbrad suggests sorting the chests out. "In one penny in for one pound," he ventures. "What's the worse that could a-happen?" Malibran wonders if the thief could help. "Fosco, my boy," he asks, "can you run your nimble fingers over those chests and get them open safely?"

Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Mason, loath to tell anyone what to do, simply stands and watches the rogue work on the chests.
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Anyone want to do something before I make an "everyone stands around" post?

Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
OOC: It suddenly dawns on me that I don't think anyone has healed Fosco. I will cast a Cure Light Wounds spell on him if no one objects. Other than that; I was waiting for the Thief to decide and/or then employ his Find Traps skills on the chest(s)
Xale; suddenly aware of the Halfling's grievous injuries, goes over and asks; "You look like you could use some healing magic. I can provide some; if you wish?"
OOC: Assuming he agrees; here's my roll: [1d8] = 2
Sorry....that kinda sucked

Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
In the interest of speeding things up so they don't depend quite so much on a single player: as Bill mentioned when he was running the game, when find traps was active, the chests themselves seemed to be the traps. There's nothing for Fosco to try to disarm.
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
I should clarify.
Mason stands up in the hallway that leads to the door he opened. He is not on ground level while the chests are being investigated.

"Well, may the gods shine upon us, but I can try to pry this open w/ my staff... at least It'll keep a bit of distance between us... I'm nervous that we'd be passing up a clue even tho it be dangerous to pursure..."
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Thank you my friend, I'm feeling a bit better but I still an not of much use other than following slowly behind until I get some real rest.max_vale wrote:OOC: It suddenly dawns on me that I don't think anyone has healed Fosco. I think Fosco was down 20 something HP, I imagine the most he can do is drag his half dead body along
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
With the cure light wounds, Fosco is at 27/48 HP. Not at optimal, but not on life support in the ICU, either.
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Sorry i thought he was at -20hpZhym wrote:With the cure light wounds, Fosco is at 27/48 HP. Not at optimal, but not on life support in the ICU, either.
Re: Ch. 2: Into The Tomb of Horrors
He is at -21 relative to his max hp of 48, not absolute. Sorry about the confusion.
